Portsmouth dismiss manager Perrin

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/4455700.stm

Chairman Milan Mandaric said: "This has not been an easy decision. Alain is a talented coach and a good man who has worked extremely hard since arriving."

"However, the view taken is that recent performances and the general morale amongst the squad needed improvement. We are all extremely grateful to him."

Its not really a surprise, look at the players he brought in, I'd never heard of most of them. Westerveld was a crap buy and Dario Silva has hardly made an impact. It'll be interesting who is brought in as a replacement though... George Burley anyone? (6)

If I remember rightly he did a good job with Pompy when he took over temporarily after Redknapp

You can't blame Perrin for taking a gamble on Dario Silva. The guy has a pretty decent track record for both club and country.

I didn't mean it as in, Dario is crap. I meant I thought he would of done better, although he has only played a few games.

Who the hell was this guy anyway?

Perrin? I think he was a defender during a playing career, I think he was a French International and played for Marseille. Not sure though

this actually took a long time coming - it was obvious from the beginning he wasn't up to it. I hear Keane's name being mentioned - but if he complained about facilities at the World Cup 2002 why would he go to Portsmouth?

And he scored about 2 goals per game for my Sevilla team in FM. :rockman:

Is it me or does the clubs in the south coast have clueless chairmen? Southampton sacked Sturrock after just 5 months and Portsmouth did the same to Perrin. They should have chosen their managers more wisely beforehand.

Perrin deserved his sacking because he only won about 5 games since taking over.

Heh, the odds say Harry Redknapp is the 4th most likely to get the hotseat next (H)

And apparrently Robson actually WANTS this job. I have no idea why. Pompey look destined to be relegated and Mandaric is a man who seems to give no quarter

i'd say it will have to be a lower league manager, the latest rumblings are Neil Warnock.

I don't know why anyone would want to manage Portsmouth

I'd never heard of Perrin before the season started, and even then I was very sketchy as to who he was. But from what has been quoted since Harry Redknapp, it seems that Milan Mandaric has a very heavy influence on the team, if not too much. Very unhealthy situation, where the chairman is interfering with the manager's job. I definitely wouldn't want to manage Portsmouth.

I predict Bruce gets sacked if B-Ham loses on saturday, he wil be the next to go

I hear Pompey wanted Iain Dowie from Palace to replace Perrin, but Palace rejected Pompey's advances
