  • Manager on the Touchline
Get closer to the action than ever before with your own customisable character to bark out instructions and join the celebrations from the touchline.

  • New Game Mode – Fantasy Draft
Create your dream team and take on your mates in ‘Fantasy Draft’ mode. Starting with a fixed budget, each manager builds a squad from scratch, competing with other managers to sign the best talent before going head-to-head against one another in a mini-league.

  • New Game Mode - Create-A-Club
For the first time, Football Manager 2016 allows fans to add their own custom-built club to any league they choose, through the single player ‘Create-a-club’ mode. Create-A-Club allows you to name the club, add yourself and friends to the line-up, edit the squad to your heart’s content and even choose the colours.

  • Multi Match Highlights
A highlights package available to easily view other fixtures in your own competition (or others) to keep you up-to-date with everything that’s going on in the world around you.

  • Prozone Match Analysis
Sports Interactive’s partnership with the leading sports statistics provider, Prozone, has seen a wide reaching revamp of the in-game match analysis tool, adding lots of useful functionality whilst also making it a lot more prominent and easier to use

  • Set-Piece Creator
Football Manager 2016’s powerful, yet easy-to-use set piece creator allows managers to set up multiple set piece routines to be used across multiple tactics; with different set pieces for each set piece taker, new zonal marking options and much, much more.

  • Expanded Press Interaction
Press conferences are more varied than ever before, with many new conversations to be had with the press, especially more contextual questions & responses. In addition, unemployed managers can now use media interviews to help get them back into the game.

  • Football Manager Touch - Cross-Save
All versions of Football Manager Touch 2016 are 'cross-save compatible' with one another, so a career started on a tablet can be saved to the cloud and continued on computer (and vice versa).

  • More Realistic Injuries
Sports Interactive has worked alongside a number of physiotherapists, doctors and related organisations to ensure that the depiction and treatment of injuries in Football Manager 2016 is more realistic than ever before. This doesn’t mean that fewer injuries will be sustained, but that those which do occur will be treated and develop more realistically. Injuries will now be determined during matches, while new injury types have been added and there is now a tangible distinction between player condition and match sharpness.

  • Further additions and updates include staff shortlisting, improved manager and staff movement, revised board requests, a revamp of board confidence, more contextual team talks, fully updated competition rules & squad information, an improved financial module, improved AI transfers and team selection, new social media features and many more – all of which combine to make Football Manager 2016 the most complete and immersive simulation of football management ever.

The fantasy draft seems like a great idea. In the past I've put in the effort to transfer players manually with the editor in order to set up an interesting team (usually based upon a new tactic I'm trying out). It looks like this feature will help put that together much faster.

Pretty much every single one of those updates sounds like crap.

Who the fuck wants 'create a club'? The game comes with a fucking EDITOR! It's one of the only games out there where people habitually use an in-the-box editor.

Draft might be nice for a one-off, but ultimately this is a pretty crap list of additions.

Every year I await one of the new features to be doing something new and interesting with tactics but none came in a long time.

I want tweaks to scouting, better options for training and transfers and more tactical flexibility. Nit expecting any of those any time soon. Had more but can't remember.

Injuries are/were dogshit, I'm welcoming that being fixed more than anything

Yeah, the injury thing is ridiculous. "You look like you're doing well, it'd be a shame if someth..." *all three strikers injured*.

I don't think I've ever seen a player in real life miss a few weeks for damaging a pec lifting weights either

Don't forget about breaking a wrist and not being able to run as fast when they get back.
My thoughts summed up in these posts.

The create a club thing is ridiculous. Who doesn't do that already if they want to? I guess it makes it easier for the layman, but I also bet they'll make it more restrictive than creating a club would be in the editor. I particularly find it funny how they say "and even choose the colours". Wow! Really!? The colours!!

The injuries needed an overhaul big time. Every injury effected players in the same way, regardless of what they were, and they were so random. This is the best of the listed updates I think.

Some of the "further additions" at the bottom are more exciting than most of the ones on the main list.

Mus - it's lists like this that make me wonder why they can't just give us a roster/start date update one year (sell it as a full update), and get on track for September releases going forward. That said, some of this may be good going forward. Things like the Prozone Match Analysis could end up being a good thing after it's settled into the game a few additions in. Same with the Set Piece creator.

Interesting it took them a full calender year to make these updates, they probably could have pushed it further

Maybe that's the way to go about it, make it come out 3-4 weeks earlier each year till it's in line
