As I was playing this match I knew I would post about it. For the first time in the game I had managed to get a good run of unbeaten (not conceding) games, finally getting the Parked the Tank achievement (none conceded in 10) and was now entering the 14th match against ManU. For the first time in a while a team was actually carving a lot of chances against me, and I was worried that my streak would be through. Then ManU got a penalty and I was facing not only losing my unconceded streak, but my unbeaten (no losses) streak as well. But best keeper in the universe Thibaut Courtois saves it and we get a 2-0 lead, punishing ManU for not converting their chances.
Then we concede another penalty. This time I'm sure my streak is over as Nani steps up this time. But Courtois saves that one too! I'm ecstatic and we score again to make it 3-0.
But then I wasn't going to post anything because Welbeck got a lucky goal in, so while Courtois' performance was fantastic, it had no great significance for me outside of giving us a win over a Top 6 side in the Prem. But then the match ends and I want to congratulate Courtois and what do I see...:
9 shots on target saved, 7 clear cut chances, 2 penalty saves and his final match rating is... 6.9! 6.9, which the game considers to be inadequate (international reports say 6.9 performances are a disappointment and you can chastise your players for a 6.9 rating when giving your talks). WTF? I always see the opponent's keepers getting good ratings for keeping me down to just 4 goals, and even my keepers have gotten 8.0s and stuff for saving a few shots, so how the **** does Courtois get a 6.9?
EDIT: Haha! In the Post-Match press conference Mick McCarthy complained about his team not getting a penalty call. Seriously? You want to miss that too?
