Thread for discussing Euro 2012 betting.

Given my recent success, I have put aside a war chest of 200 euros (possibly 250) for making bets on this years tournament.

I have decided the bet on France to win the tournament as I think it represents the best value of odds vs likelihood. So far the best odds I can find are 12-1, should I take the bet at these odds or hold out for better?

I am also going to bet 10 euros on each of England's group matches on Andy Carroll first scorer. Odds against france are 9.5-1.

Considering a flutter on Italy to beat Spain at 5.4-1 but to be honest I'd hoped those odds would be better.

So, anyone else planning on making some bets? Anyone got some tips for me?

In the first round of matches, where do you see the most likely potential upset?

Sweden vs Ukraine at 2/1 and better is sick value imo. To make it better, there's some stomach flu going on in the Ukraine squad.

I like Llorente as top scorer, I guess. Something around 15/1. Villa won it in 2008 and tied in 2010.

best value of odds? dafuq?! with Chelsea, you bet with your heart, not with your mind, and you won; that's what made it epic ... why subject your beloved England to any other treatment?

Probably because it's England... :)

Any USA resident can recommend a good betting website for us, Americans? I'm sick of the top branch websites like Bwin not accepting the registration for the USA residents.

I sure hope Ukraine will not waste my money down the drain this year (like Dynamo Kyiv did 3 years ago).

Yeah but that was a one off moment of glory.... now I really want to make up for a potentially disappointing England campaign and keep the tournament interesting by seeing how much I can make (or lose) with purely smart betting.

What do you guys think of a Russia-Greece forecast in group A at 7.5-1?

Yeah the American online gaming laws really suck. I dont know how you get round it, people must.

Dont bet on Ukraine though, odds are artificially low because of people sympathy betting on them as a home nation and they just had a major bout of food poisoning!

And UKR also lost their two major goalkeepers through head injuries before the tournament.

you can also use Arnau's betting tactic: bet on every opponent your team (i.e. England) faces; that way, you're either too happy with the win to care about the monetary loss, or you'll have cash to properly drown your misery ...

Ukraine actually lost not 2, but 3 (all) the goalkeepers that were planned to make a 23-men squad. Must be the only nation in history to be so unlucky with a keeper position, which beforehand was considered to be the only stable position of the team! There is a joke going on that the new "#1" Andriy Pyatov got the dark side involved and paid some individuals good money to cast a bad spell on our keepers, since it is so unbelievable that not only Pyatov regained his starting position in Shakhtar Donetsk but also moved up from being a #4 (out of squad at all) to #1 in a mere 6 months.

Back on topic: I bet mainly just to enjoy the thrill of the game more, that way I can support an indifferent team that bet'd on and not just be a passive watcher.

Good luck to Poland tomorrow, Robbie!

I put money for Russia win against Czech. If it goes, I'll get x1.8.

Well, access to bwin.com (which I used to judge odds) is now prohibited in our country by police agency because it's been considered as containing an illegal/harmful content or it's not a service run by our government.

There really isn't anything, UIGEA put paid to that.

ESPN has their Streak for the Cash but that isn't as good.

Benzema 11/1 for top scorer might be worth a punt at williamhill.com
I thought about that one, especially cos Germany might rotate their strikers. I actually saw Benzema at 13-1 a couple of days ago.

Anyway I put 20 on Russia to win Group A and Greece to come second at 7.5-1, so a good performance from Greece today helps me out.

I'm surprised the Dutch are at decent odds to win against Denmark, definitely taking it.

£5 on Russia to win at 12/1
£5 on Benzema to finish top goalscorer at 9/1

I bet on Russia after the 3-1 because I couldn't get to a bookies in time.
