no Ali Sami Yen wasn't demolished because our new stadium will be in another place in Istanbul and it will finish in 2 or 3 years..It means we will play in Ali Sami Yen for 2 more years:rockman:

why are they moving in the first place? that stadium has so much history, it just won't be the same when galatasaray moves out to their new home stadium. :(

but we must move because Ali Sami Yen is too old stadium and if it is rebuild in that place the capacity will not increase too much..but our new place and new stadium is very close to the Ali Sami Yen and new stadiums capacity will be 45.000 or 50.000 and it's style will be like English stadiums...:p

While Besiktas hogged the Wednesday transfer headlines, Thursday's belonged to Galatasaray.

Chairman Ozhan Canaydin and soccer branch director Ergun Gursoy have been stumping Europe talking to players, agents and clubs and, barring last minute hitches, they have picked up two Brazilians.

Real Madrid midfielder Flavio Conceicao, who is on holiday in Brazil at the moment, is reported to have been faxed a three-year contract and to have signed and returned it after agreement was reached with his agents and the Spanish club.

We do not yet have details of what is being paid but it is possible that Galatasaray has let itself in for a whopping bill. It originally wanted to take Flavio Conceicao on loan but Real held out for an outright sale and was believed to be asking 8 million euros.

Also the Brazilian played on loan to Borussia Dortmund last season for which he was paid a hefty 4 million euros, half by Borussia, half by Real. He has just turned 30 and although he was a member of Brazil's 1996 Olympic team, his international career has not prospered in recent years.

This being the case, a three-year contract seems a little on the long side but Galatasaray coach Gheorghe Hagi has been insistent that he wants Flavio Conceicao.

Roque Junior
The second Brazilian acquisition, defender Roque Junior, is no stranger to Turkish fans. He played on the Brazil team which beat Turkey twice at the finals before going on to beat Germany in the 2002 World Cup finals.

He is on the books of AC Milan but has played little for the Italian giant recently having had spells out on loan to Leeds United and Siena. Now 28, he is a stylish, elegant defender and a man who likes to go forward and link with the attack.

His weakness is that he is alarmingly prone to error at times but like Flavio Conceicao he has been on Hagi's wanted list since the transfer season began. Galatasaray has agreed a one-year loan deal with AC and it should have been signed and sealed by the time you read this.

Saidou on hold
All this may be bad news for Istanbulspor's Cameroon international midfield man Alioum Saidou. He has signed a pre-contract agreement with Galatasaray but the club has been dragging its feet on signing the actual contract.

The arrival of Flavio Conceicao has increased speculation that it will back out of the Saidou deal if Canaydin and Gursoy get the third man they are targeting, Argentine Marcello Gallardo, another midfield player.
