Game stops for 15 seconds

So that is my problem, the game works well enough for me but very often stops to take a 10 to 15 second pause where nothing happens and then starts running again. I haven't managed to find any help on this.

It happens a few times during a game and very often in the menus. Otherwise it's still good enough for me to play, though not perfect. If it was a graphics card problem it would run slow all the time, or not?? I'm using some cheap GeForce 4 card.

For me it stops before the kick-off
The presentation is finished, and after they show the refferee, I have a blank screen for 10 secs, then I "wake" up at the kick-off
