Gravis Gamepad Pro vs Logitech Dual Action

I've got FIFA 2004 a few days ago and what a huge dissapointment with gamepad controls. I've had a Gravis Gamepad Pro for a few years and was planning of using it with FIFA 2004, as well. However, in the middle of the game, I am returned to the main menu and my controller just disappears from the controller selection screen.

Since this was so frustrating (practically can not finish a single game), I've decided to buy a Logitech Dual Action (which seems to be EA Sports favorite). More problems now, different though. First, you can't use the D-pad, which I'm used to, and secondly the left stick, which I'm forced to use, started behaving weird after only a day of usage.. It just doesn't stay centered, so I'm having huge problems controling the players (they are moving without me moving the stick, making it very hard to control the movement). Also all the moves are much slower than with the Gravis gamepad.

I am planning to return the Logitech gamepad, but with the Gravis controls dissapearing issue, I can't really play at all. Does anybody at EA Sports care at all? (I've seen other messages from people having similar controller problems)

Guys, any ideas about any possible fixes (either activating D-pad on Logitech Dual Action, or patching the problem with Gravis controller)?

Any help is much appreciated. Cheers

I have both these pads with none of the problems like the one you mentioned.
Have you tried updateing your drivers for the gravis?
And did you install the software (following the instructions for a full install) with the logitech? Or did you just connect it straight out of the box?
Beyond that I can't really help.
The gravis pad is great for fifa, if only it had a right analog stick it would be kicking ass.
The logitech dual action is probobly the worst pad i've ever used but maybe that will change if I can get to use the d-pad. Anyhow good luck.

I was a Gravis Gamepad Pro devotee until I bought the Logitech Dual Action a few weeks ago. Make sure you install the software before you plug the Logitech into a USB slot.

One hiccup I noticed is that I had to plug my Dual Action into a "virgin" port on my USB hub - for some reason the controller would misbehave when I plugged it into any of the first 3 ports on my 7 port hub.

I have Gravis Gamepad Pro's, Gravis Eliminator's, and a Gravis Eliminator Aftershock but the Logitech Dual Action is definitely the best controller I own.

As for Gravis GamePad Pro, I have updated my driver and I'm still having these frustrating problems, of my controller just disappearing in the middle of the game.

For Logitech Dual Action, I have followed the instructions of installing the software first and then plugging in the controller. It's really behaving strange. For example, when I am to select the type of corner kick, it would scroll up or down through the menu by itself, until I move it around a few times, to try to stabilize it. It does similar things on the Windows calibration screen, I move it to the right and let go, it does not come back to the center, but instead is offset sometimes by even half a centimetre. I wonder if the analogue stick is bad itself and am thinking of returning it.

Thanks for your inputs, guys.

My Logitech Dual Action pad does exactly the same things as you've described. Sometimes I can't move my 'wall' to the right, when defending a freekick. A lot of the time the 'pad won't respond when I try to select 'away' online (the 'pad icons).
So it's not just your left analogue stick that's defective. I've read about similar problems with the left analogue stick on other forums/messageboards. Maybe it's a fault that only manifests itself on Windows XP systems- perhaps the default driver is bug-ridden.
God knows... :/

Luckily I've also got a Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual 3 pad!

Gravis rules....

I had the Gravis gamepad pro througout Fifa 02-03 but now is has gone to the gaming fields in heaven :(

And to pour salt in the wound Gravis dos not sell their products in Europe any more :( :(

And the sales person in my local hardware drug supplier siad the Logitech Dual action was rocking untill i learned that i only could use the stick but have by time gotten used to it so imust say its ok but if gravis again want to sell their gold products....bye bye Logitech.

But as a litlle note u can in PES 3 control the player with the D-Pad so i think i will play some that for now!!!!

I also discovered the hard way last year that there is no more Gravis in Sweden.

I was fortunate enough to find one on ebay though .:rockman:
