Gros,

Are you the person that writes the English Zone? If so, I was wondering if I could get your comments/suggestions on my newpaper? I am new to this, so the writing doesn't come naturally. The ony restrictions I have are size (needs to stay within 355 pixel width so it fits in WFO) and scope (I need to keep it down to just my division). Any suggestions or tips you could provide to help my efforts would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,

Okay so is this a little 'news' thing for your WFO? It'd be great if you could give me a little more info on what it is your planning on doing? Then I could help you further...contact me in my gb even, I'll be happy to help.

Okay well the width thing...are you going to be doing it in paint or something like that? If so, I'm maybe not the person to advise you on this. As for the writing:

  • Write in third person - If you really want it to come over as authentic, then you have to write as you are an outsider to the situation. If you right in the first person you may come over as being too parochial so avoid words such as 'I', 'me' and 'you'.
  • Repitition - Sometimes used to add an effect but make sure you don't repeat words often, so try and expand your vocabulary.
  • Equality - Keep everything equal, don't give too much coverage to one team and not enough for the others. The Zone has been guilty of doing this, though can I actually help it if I have to write FC Mount down as the weekly chumps? :p
  • Keep Records - Try and store everything you have written so you can refer back and use your previous words to make up quotes or just to use it to do a season round-up.

I hope this makes sense to you and helps you! :)
