Group D: Sweden vs. Spain [R]

Sevillista

Starting XI
Didn't see a thread for this yet....

1-1 HT.
Goals by Torres and Ibrahimovic

Spain dominated the first twenty minutes or so of the match until Puyol left injured. Now we've lost posession of the ball and seem to be resorting to long balls.

For the second match in a row, Sergio Ramos has been the worst for Spain. On the goal, Ramos got lazy and let Zlatan right by him, then sat on his ass. Usually it's a forward that makes a defender look foolish. This time Ramos made Ibrahimovic look spectacular.

One last note: CLEAR penalty in the last moments of the half that the ref was too chickensh*t to call. Silva (I believe) was going for a header in the box when a Swedish defender barged in without seeing the ball and toppled him.

clear penalty on silva.

withous puyol the defense is a disaster, spain have to touch the ball back. and casillas can do anything more in the goal... this is best gk of the world? ....

Good match so far, very even, with both teams having enough chances to be in front, but the draw is fair so fair.

And yeah, clear penalty is the last minute of 1st half, and what the **** was the ref thinking when he sent everyone to HT? The ball was upfront, and it could have been a chance.

good post sevillista..

The second half starts and I see Ibra has been subbed off??? Was he injured or something? I do find that move odd

Also, nice to see torres score. Some much has been said about him and Aragones after his subbed from the first game

Sweden lost their edge when Ibrahimovic was subbed off. They were non-existant in attack in the second half. Deserved result for Spain though, they controlled the match.

oh goodness we got lucky to snatch the win!!! but MAN WE WON!!! you get the chances and He took it well!.....lackluster Spain, but hey these are the sort of games Spain couldnt win in the past, maybe its a good omen....Freaking Ramos has had the worst two matches i have seen him play in a long time....and

Casillas is the best in the world how dare you say that he doesnt even come close to Buffon...I've seen Buffon make some pretty stupid mistakes as well, the operative word here is that they are human....I guess you are all hyped up because he stopped that shot yesterday...anyway....good result for Spain!!

Help?

Spain's attack was so uncreative today. They are truly a counter-attack team, put them against an organized defense and they struggle.

And what's the hype about Ramos? He must have given away the ball more times in last 2 games than Wes Brown did in the whole season. Very unimpressed by him so far.

Anyway, i'm glad Spain won, got me 5 bucks and a chance for Russia to finish 2nd. IF, big IF they manage to beat Greece and Sweden, which is might prove to be an uphill task in itself.

well think about this Help...this is the worst I have ever seen him play, so if this is the worst the best is yet to come...at least I hope

I thought Sweden's defending was fantastic at times except for Villa's goal just now. Even when faced with a one-on-one situation with a Spanish player, they nicked the ball away most of the time.

I though Spain were poor in the first half by their standards. They controlled the match in the second half but didn't really trouble Sweden too much until that goal. Sweden really have to improve if they are going to beat Russia because they were a different team without Ibrahimovic. Why that lad Kallstrom isn't getting a look in is puzzling. He has had a good season with Lyon. They need creativity from somewhere and I think he would provide them with it.

the plus side is that he can rest next weeks game, or play only half a game. So he can be fresh against Italy or Romania. Either of which will be Spains biggest game
