Help - option file/para_we8.bin

9-Ball

Folks,

I have WE8 with Wolf's fine Evolution patch and Gold option file installed. I have since gone through and made a bunch of roster edits etc, mainly re-adding some of the retired 'great players' and adjusted a few stats here and there, using EditPES4OptionFile tool v 1.1. I haven't created any players, just edited a few.

The issue I have now is that I am unable to get my rosters/option file to register within the Master League. All players show as they should, with the clubs they're with, or as free agents, but their stats are scrambled and randomized from what I've set in the Option file via the Editor.

I've read in various readme.txt files with Wolf's patches and similar that I need to generate the para_we8.bin file via the EditPES4 utility then import that file into the O_text.afs file in the DAT directory of WE8's install. I've tried to do this, and encountered various problems. I found here also via a search that sometimes it's necessary to resize the .afs file to enable the import of the para_we8.bin file. I've tried to do this but not sure if I'm doing it correctly. It's resulted in the game crashing on start-up or simply no changes. I've also read that the para file needs to be inside the dat/patch1_10 directory, which I have done.

So, I'd hugely appreciate it if someone can clarify the following question: IS it possible to have the custom/edited rosters work within the Master League? IF so, how do I get to that point from having the finalized KONAMI-WIN32WE8UOPT option file? Would greately appreciate clear and step-by-step instructions, especially on that resizing of the .afs file, if that is infact needed.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this.

yeah u can do this, i had the same problem but a day of study allow me to do it;) , u have to put the para.bin in the file 0_data.afs in the data folder using afs explorer by editing the dimension of the old para that's already in the 0_data.afs and replacing it with ur para.bin created with the pes4edit

r4g3,

not sure I understand your reply. By 0_data.afs do you mean 0_text.afs? (i.e. where the para_we8.bin file is) If not, then I'm lost as there is NO 0_data.afs. ???

If so, then I understand this and have tried it but with no sucess. I'm not too clear on the 'resizing' process, as you call it.

Anyone else able to clarify that process for me or give other info?

highlight the parabin file in afsexplorer
then increase its size(see numbers in top right of screen).
then save it ,
now open the saved file and import your modded parabin file , save again then copy/paste into game.
P.S. theres a more detailed guide in wolfs 2005patch thread

Brian,

thanks for that. Problem is, I've done exactly as you describe and it causes the game to crash on running it. Results in my having to paste the backed-up afs file back into the dat folder to fix it and leaves me back at step one. Any idea why this happens?

redman,

now trying to install it with DKZ studio instead of afs explorer, as I read somewhere it sometimes works that way. Will let you know if it works, though I'm not too hopeful.

Jeez, only made it worse, somehow. Inserted the para file into the afs after resizing etc, then ran the game and it causes it to crash. Restored the afs AND option file from backups and now it crashes the game on trying to start a ML but works ok for an exhibition match. Seems like I might have to reinstall the lot AND maybe lose my edited option file which was a week's worth of work. Ready to throw my hands in the air. Anyone able to help here?

Well.. here what you should do..

1. Generate ur new para_xxx.bin file.
2. Open AFSExplorer (DOWNLOAD the latest version.. Make sure you DOWNLOAD a new copy even if it was the save version).. Or if you have WOLF's copy.. Try to DELETE ALL the foders/files expect for AFSExplorer.exe of course.
3. File---> Import AFS file----> choose ur 0_text.afs.
4. Right click para_xxx.bin in the file list tree, and click Import file.
5. Browse for your new para_xxx.bin and click "Open" button.
6. If ur new file was bigger then the Max. Size! AFSExplorer will popup a windows (There's no room for this file!...blah blah blah..).. Click yes... and jump to step 8

7. If ur new file was save or smaller then the Max. Size. Exit ASFExplorer and try the game.

8. From the menu bar click Advaned-----> Modify reversed space.. ASFExplorer will start initilizing the file tree.
9. Click "Regenerate AFS!" button on the upper left corner.
10. Save your new AFS file with more space for your new para_xxx.bin, as "LargerAFS.AFS" or whatever you name.
11. Building operation will start, after AFS created.. CLOSE AFSExplorer.
12. Rename "LargerAFS.AFS" to "0_text.afs" and remove ur old o_text.afs to somewhere else of course.
13. Do STEPS 3-7 again.. and Enjoy..

KOC2000,

thanks for the clear and concise instructions. However, upon trying this it causes the game to crash on startup, also. I thought perhaps I'd somehow had a corrupt or problematic afs file, or para file, or option file. So, I uninstalled the game completely. Reinstalled clean. Installed Wolf's 2005 WE8 patch and the latest version X option file of his. Then went and edited the option file, boosting Henry's stats to 99 on all fields, just as a test, and generated the new para_we8.bin. I then inserted THAT new para file into the afs file, carefully following your instructions. On trying to run the game it causes a crash to desktop within 2 seconds or so AFTER loading the option file. Any ideas?

How do you do it?

Do you rebuild the AFS and save it on your desktop and then copy over?..or do you delete the old afs and paste in the new one?..

Thats 1 way the game crashes for me, another is corrupt files in it, but I have never once had a problem while inserting the para file, never.

Crashing after loading the option file is what I had, it usualy means the afs is corrupt and it cannot load it.

Do you rebuild the modified afs or have you tried it with the default?.

Also, have you modified any of Wolfs patch before you try and rebuild the afs?

I rebuild the AFS onto my desktop with a name such as 00_text.afs. Then close ASF Explorer. I then reopen it, open my new 00_text.afs and import the para file, seemingly without error. I then delete the dat directory's default 0_text.afs and replace/rename mine in there. Run the game. It crashes.

It seems whenever AFS Explorer regenerates the 0_text.afs file it corrupts it somehow? Either that or my para file is corrupt? I generate the para file via EDITPES4OPTIONfile tool, v. 1.1. Is this right?

I just copy the default, (Wolf Patch version) 0_text.afs file back into the dat directory and it works fine, albeit with his player/stats edits showing only in Edit mode, NOT in the ML.

I'm lost and frustrated. I can play fine with Wolf's patch/edits in exhibition matches or cup/leagues, etc, but I really want to be able to make my own edits and import them to the ML so I can see the changes there and play.

ps. On importing the para into my new 00_text.afs I just close AFS Explorer, I don't click update on it. At least usually, I've tried that too.

Second, I've only edited Wolf's patch to the extent that I boosted T. Henry's stats to 99 just as a tester to see the difference between the Edit mode figures and ML, to see if they switch to prove the para file went in ok. No other changes.

There is your solution, DO NOT delete the afs in the dat folder, just simply paste over it, because when you delete it, the game thinks its still deleted even though you put the new one in.

Trust me I did the same, overwriting the old one fixes it.

Just import the file and rebuild the afs, save to desktop and load the new afs up, import the file and then copy that OVER the old one, donot delete the old one first.

Also puting the param_we8.bin in the patch folder also works btw.

Also when making the new afs just call it directly the same as default and copy over.

Ok, didn't work, so fearing some file issue and wanting to be sure, I removed WE8 again and reinstalled clean. I'm about to install the Wolf 2005 FM patch, then his patch1 then the version X option file so I'm up to date before trying exactly what you describe above. However, I thought I'd just load the 0_text.afs into AFS Explorer at its default stage and here's what it reports:

Coherence error: Overlapped file(s) found in descriptors!
AFS file is corrupted!
Do you want to load it anyway?

[YES] [NO]

Now, it says the above, and it still opens showing all the relevant files. The game also runs perfectly in this default/clean install state.

I also noted that on installing Wolf's 2005 FM patch last time, when I tried to open the 0_text.afs file (his) it reported the same. I clicked YES and continued with the process. I have gone and re-downloaded his entire 2005 patch incase it was a corrupt download, but it reports the same. It only does it once, then I click YES and it lists the files. Any thoughts?

Never had that error, only other suggestion I got is are you importing it over the correct file? Or did you make the para_we8.bin correctly?

9-Ball

Importing the para file that comes with Wolf's latest version X option file for WE8. If I can make it work, then ideally my own Option file's para_we8.bin generated by EDITPES4OPTIONFILE tool, version 1.1. Isn't that the right way to make the para file?
