Help - option file/para_we8.bin

And let me clarify something. Where I have to resize the .afs file to allow importing of the para file, SHOULD I use the + and - buttons on the top left to adjust the size of allocation so it's large enough to accept my para file? Or, just click YES when it asks if I want to reserve the space, then run the Modify Reserved Space tool and simply regenerate the afs from there?

I wonder, there. I've tried both ways, however.

Yea do the end bit, the afs already fixes the space it needs when you try and import the file. So just rebuild the afs.

I honestly dont know the problem, usualy when you import the para file wrong it just has unregistered players in every team.

The problem you have is during the rebuild process, did you do what I said and dont delete the 0_text from the data folder?..

I did do what you said re: not deleting the 0_text.afs file, just coping/pasting in the new one. No change as yet. I'm back to re-uninstalling and trying again. Frustrating process. I had a hugely edited option file/rosters for pes3 and all was easy to install etc, but this is making me half-nuts. Thanks hugely for the time you've spent offering help here, even if nothing is working yet. Will keep at it and post up and developments.

PES3?..is this what your creating the para file using, a PES3 option file?..

If so, try and do it with a PES4 option file, if not then I am seriously stuck as to why it doesnt work for you.

Like I said, it usualy crashes before the logos come on which means it cant find the afs, but I am stumped.

Have you tried remaking the afs without importing the file?..just to make sure it aint the rebuilding of the afs which is causing the crash.

Perhaps it could be the new EditPES4 version?..I aint tried 1.1 yet but I will do tommorow just to see if this is the problem.

Untill then, get sleep :p

Misleading, I meant only that I edited PES3 rosters extensively and had no problem with them. No mix-up here in using pes3 files for this. I took Wolf's version x option file and edited to my own liking (adding in a bunch of retired 'classic' players he'd removed, over b-team current players, etc, and editing the master league start squad so it's a little bit better than the default (I'm not much good at the game)) then tried to make the para and import it. Not quite dumb enough to try to use pes3 files ;)

Could be the new EditPES4 option file editor I guess. Had considered that briefly. Hard to know, of course. Anyway, I'm off to bed and will try again tomorrow.

1. Generate ur new para_xxx.bin file.
2. Open AFSExplorer (DOWNLOAD the latest version.. Make sure you DOWNLOAD a new copy even if it was the save version).. Or if you have WOLF's copy.. Try to DELETE ALL the foders/files expect for AFSExplorer.exe of course.
3. File---> Import AFS file----> choose ur 0_text.afs.
4. Right click para_xxx.bin in the file list tree, and click Import file.
5. Browse for your new para_xxx.bin and click "Open" button.
6. If ur new file was bigger then the Max. Size! AFSExplorer will popup a windows (There's no room for this file!...blah blah blah..).. Click yes... and jump to step 8

7. If ur new file was save or smaller then the Max. Size. Exit ASFExplorer and try the game.

8. From the menu bar click Advaned-----> Modify reversed space.. ASFExplorer will start initilizing the file tree.
9. Click "Regenerate AFS!" button on the upper left corner.
10. Save your new AFS file with more space for your new para_xxx.bin, as "LargerAFS.AFS" or whatever you name.
11. Building operation will start, after AFS created.. CLOSE AFSExplorer.
12. Rename "LargerAFS.AFS" to "0_text.afs" and remove ur old o_text.afs to somewhere else of course.
13. Do STEPS 3-7 again.. and Enjoy..

Can a process similar to this be used to get Wolf's FM2005 stats to work on WE8:I XBOX in Master League mode?

I am not really sure if this AFS process will work for consoles?

The new version allowes Xbox files so yea, try it.

If you know a way to import the Xbox option file to your pc, load up the WE8I PC option file and save it to the Xbox one?..

AInt sure as I never changed any consoles :(

So, after more hours work, here's where I got to. Installed WE8 anew, plus the Wolf 2005 FM patch, the update1 patch and his latest version X option file.

I took THAT new option file into EDITPES4OPT tool and edited one player in the master league start squads and Henry's att. attribute to 99.

I saved it and made a new para file from it.

In AFS, I imported the new para file where it did NOT require resizing (for some odd reason, always had before). Seemed to import ok, so I closed and ran the game.

It loaded without any issue, no crashing. I went to edit more and sure enough, Henry has his 99 att. rating. I then went to ML mode expecting to see his default rating but no! Lo and behold, the 99 att. rating was correctly imported. On checking the default ML squad, I find that the one player I edited there was also imported correctly! Hallelujah ... except ... and this is the frustrating bit to me since I deal with web design and programming, I don't know WHY or HOW. I did the same thing I've done a few times that always failed. So, it causes the following issues:

1. I'd hoped to use my extensively edited opt. file to create a the para file and import, so I'd have all my edits in the ML, etc. It seems that won't work as any attempt with it causes the crashing. So, I'm back to starting all over again to re-doing the edits, which includes the creation of 175 or so players!! Took me three-four days to get it done. A pain. I'm backing the files up with each successful step.

2. I wonder if, now, is it possible to do too many edits to the OPT file and therefore the para file either corrupts or comes out too big? Is there a limit? Since, when I first started editing and had done a couple of players I did the import process for the first time, last week, and it worked. That's about the same stage I'm at now, and I'm worried that the more editing I do, the more likely I am to end up with the same problem. Can you go too far?

3. Of those 175 players, I didn't 'create' any, I just edited existing players such as unknown youth players or otherwise very poor players that I wouldn't miss from the game. While most were on squads, it's possible I could have edited some free agents. Could this cause a problem?

4. With my long list of desired edits now, is there a better (i.e. safer?) way of making edits than the EDITPES4OPTIONFILE tool? I have version 1.1 of that. What are the alternatives?

5. I guess, finally, anyone have any other thoughts or ideas as to why this messes up like this?

I have succesfully converted PC version option files to my XBOX before. However, I think the problem with not being able to use those edited stats in my ML comes from the fact that if you are only using option files from console versions of the game, there is no para file or an AFS file that is part of that process.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Is the new text.afs file one that gets compacted into an option file in the PC version of the game or is it a stand alone file?

There's no need to blame EditPES4OptionFile for your problems. Based on your latest post, I can safely assume that what is going wrong for you is the resizing of the AFS.

In your latest attempt, you modified the stats little enough for the new para_we8.bin so that it still fits in the original slot, and then it worked. Many people had problems with the resizing part. I am lucky I didn't, and I'm afraid it's impossible to help people on an issue you never encountered.

The para_we8.bin file is compressed, that's the reason why as you keep editing the option file, the resulting para_we8.bin file usually gets bigger.

kschoice,

thanks for that info - it's pretty much the temp. conclusion I came to. I guess then that my current approach of making a few edits, then backing up the last working copy files and importing to test is the way to go. Eventually I'll meet the same problem again, I guess, but should have a file set to revert to with as much of the editing done as I can get away with. Fingers crossed.

To people with the CRASH problem after loading the option file after insert para_we8.bin in 0_text.afs:

1. Run AFS Explorer 3.4, go to File>Configuration and under "AFS loading options", ACTIVATE "Ignore descriptor's length" option. Press OK.

2. Open the 0_text.afs file you want to edit.

3. Go to File and UPDATE the afs file. You can overwrite the file. If you get an error saying that it can't update because the file is being used or is write-protected, move the file to another directory (the root of your drive works [C:/]) and try again.

4. Go to File>Configuration and under "AFS loading options", DEACTIVATE "Ignore descriptor's length" option. Press OK.

5. Open the regenerated file regenerated in point 3.

6. Modify the reserved space for para_we8.bin file and REGENERATE the afs.

7. Open the regenerated afs file and import the new para_we8.bin.

8. Update the file and rename it to 0_text.afs if you have a different name and copy or move it to your DAT folder of WE8.

Sport,

thanks for the suggestion. Will try it when I get to the point of my para being too big to import straight to the afs file and let you know if it works out.

This worked for me very well! I know this is a 7 years old thread, but, I still play it since 2004 :innocent_smile_1: I never get bored.

I did these same steps for inserting new faces (.bin) in which the size were bigger than the maximum space, so I just followed these feliycora steps and voilá!!! no CRASHES at all!!! Perfectly fine! MASTER LEAGUE here I COME AGAIN!!! :mike: Cheers fellass!! I'm glad to give life again to this thread 7 years ago!!
