How much will Chelsea spend in the next transfer window?

If they keep buying players like Kalou and Mikel (or even Sheva), they can spend as much money as they want.

To be fair, Mikel's actually been a relatively good buy.
Not denying that, but he looks like a complete waste of space on the pitch. It just seems like Chelsea fought to get him to spite Man United more than anything else. Clearly a decent enough player, but out of his depth.

You reckon? He did look a little lost at the start of the season but towards the tail end, I think he's improved a lot and has been playing quite well as the defensive midfielder. I don't know if you saw it but he had an immense game along with Essien against Valencia over in Spain.

Didn't see that game, but I guess he was due a good one ;)

Of late I've seen both Liverpool games, the Bolton one and the Newcastle game... and he was being carried by players around him, by Essien especially.

True but in those games, pretty much the whole team didn't perform to their ability. Also, not trying to make excuses for some of his poor performances but it is his first season in the Premiership, playing at a completely different level than he was used to in Norway and he has only just turned 20. I wasn't keen on the transfer at first but what I think has changed my mind is the improvement in his attitude from the start of the season where he appeared lazy on the pitch and turned up to training late a number of time.

Anyway, I don't think I'll change your mind any time soon but hopefully by the end of next season, you'll be saying he's worth a place in any team in the league, much like Essien after a relatively average first season.

I think Chelsea and Liverpool will have the biggest amount of money in their transfer kitties this summer, with Abramovich probably resorting to sack Mourinho for his failed season and with someone like Jurgen Klinsmann or Guus Hiddink taking over his job then I'm sure whoever gets the job will want to buy a few more players and Liverpool with Gillet and Hicks, it's been reported that Liverpool will have about 100 million to spend.
But I'm sure the attraction of playing for the Premiership champions and playing infront of a 76,000 crowd every week would attract any player to move to Old Trafford, I really hope we get Owen Hargreaves and Gareth Bale, but who knows?

I dont think Kalou's been that bad a buy. He needs to work on his finishing but he's been pretty dangerous in the last few months.

Lemme guess, Utd. supporter?

I think this year's transfers, although maybe not as great as last year's, were very good. Ballack is blending well, Kalou's been very dangerous, and Mikel is constantly improving. Hilario, btw, has also proven himself good enough. Sheva has also been helpful, despite what people think. And I think that next year will see him contributing much more.

What do you care how much they spend? If ou'd said, who will they spend their money on, then that might be an interesting discussion, but how much is simply a crude way of making a joke about Chelsea's funds, and I think that has been discussed for, what, 4 years now?

I think they'll definitely buy a defender, possibly a right-back although I don't think we really need one, and perhaps a striker. I'm hoping Mou will give more time to Sahar like he did with Diarra, instead, and I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for Ben-Haim to come, now with Allerdyce gone, maybe Bolton will accept our offer. Really, other than a central defender, we don't really need anyone else, but this all depends on whether some players will leave.

What we need are more attacking minded and tough kind of players, I think we definitely need a new striker, I can see Louis Saha leaving the club in the short term and the midfield needs bolstering with Hargreaves being a fantastic addition (if we get him) and I would like to see either Defoe, Torres or Dimitar Berbatov join us in the summer.

Did anyone ask about ManU? Must have missed the interest in this thread.

Oops, sorry, my bad, got carried away in the spur of the moment. My Manchester United adrenaline was going 100 mph, lol.

remember how young Mikel and Kalou are , they are gonna cause some problems next term.

I doubt we'll spend that much, we gettin Alex from PSV from our loan deal, also glen johnson from portsmouth

future Chelsea : Alex (PSV-Chelsea loan deal), Glen Johnson (Portsmouth, CHelsea loan) Sidwell (Free Agent) , Pepe (FC Porto i believe), Crespo (back from loan as well) , Brazilian striker fomr HErenveen,

Remember next season the African Cup begins so that means - No Essien, No Mikel, No Kalou, No Drogba

Why do Chelsea keep spending un necessary money on new players, they have enough top quality players? And enough players to cover each position three times over.
