Team Captain
LONG POST AHEAD, PLEASE READ IT ALL IF YOU WANT TO DIRECTLY COMMENT ON IT AND MY VIEWS, it is written pretty weird but I put it in order of my thoughts.
I do not want this to be an insult thread of different countries!
State your opinion in a mature fashion and don't insult other football nations.
I realized Spain plays like almost all the teams I see play now a days. Including nations and clubs. They played according to the Spanish league, where you must avoid heavy contact because the ref always calls a fault when there is barely any contract and player falls down. In the English league it isn't really like this, the players are allowed to use their bodies to fight for the ball and in my eyes this should be allowed. In a strong tackle if the player touches the ball its allowed.
I know I would rather see contact football, where players go in for challanges, and if they get the ball they win it, a fault isn't called. Just more physical play, I love whatching matches where this is allowed, the players get into the game more and aren't scared of the ref's whistle. They get comfortable with the pace of the game. Just because certain "great" teames don't play right dosen't mean you have to punish the ones that do. Yellow cards are still deservant when somthing is done on purpose to harm the other player or doing something wrong according to the rules.
While looking through the replays thread I came across this link, an Enland vs Spain game, where most English players play in the Premiership and where most of the Spanish players play in La Liga.
I am not English nor has the Premiership been my favorite league, Seria A has and Inter Milan as my favorite team. I am not going to be biased at all, I will honestly point our both the spanish team's and the english team's errors.
the video is 3:44 seconds long (haha I know the video is REALLY dramatic. "A NIGHT OF SHAME" lol), you can find it HERE. I want to run you through the plays in the video to show examples rather then explain.
Now in the explenations when I say dive, I mean dive, no ifs or buts, the player obviously over exagerates the incident. If you have ever seen or played real football you will know you don't fling your legs in a dramatic fashion when somebody makes contact with you.
(rough time: ) - (explanation)
00:03 - You can start to hear monkey taunts to Ashley Cole, this is disguisting to hear them so clear and loud from such a noisy stadium. Imagine how the english black players' confidence is doing.
00:16 - Wright Phillips gets the same racist abuse.
00:32 - The English player falls, for what reason I don't know, the Spanish player pushes him down, when he loses his ballance.
00:38 - John Terry (England) does the same thing to the Spanish player but in an uglier fashion, over dramatizing what happened to Cole.
00:42 - Spanish player overexagherates when the English player makes contact with his leg. As you can clearly see the English player was stretched out with his legs so he couldn't even get much force in making contact with the Spanish player.
00:45 - Both teams show examples of (I think a clear yellow card should be given) shirt pulling.
00:50 - English players show athleticism over the Spanish player. This leads me to think that if you are a footballer you should be in shape and strength and use that, I don't want to see a whimsy player diving, when I watch sports I want to see the player going in hard to keep the ball.
00:57 - Torres dives. From the angle of which the English defender hit Torres he shouldn't have gone down in the fashion that he did. A big .
01:05 - A good corner execution, the Spanish players were more focused.
01:28 - NOT A PENALTY, if the referee or linesman saw the incident they should have their license suspended. This is clear in football, if the goalie gets a touch on the ball with his hand and that results in the player falling down it is not a penalty. In the first replay you can clearly see Robinson just hitting the ball and making it go in the other direction, Raul over exagerates his fall (but who is suprised anymore).
01:33 - Robinson says somthing along the lines of "Thats f***ed." Himself as a goalie knows the rules, and you can see it in his expression that he wasn't dissapointed in himself for giving the penalty but dissapointed in the referee for giving it.
01:35 - Good Karma pays off and Robinson is determined to fix what wrong happened so he saves it. For a split second after he saves it you can see Robinson pointing his finger (I think at a spanish player) saying, "See that's what you get for cheating". This is now where the game takes a turn for the worse.
01:45 - Rooney clearly pushes Cassillas, deserved yellow.
01:55 - See, this is what diving has become, unless you don't know the physics of a human's body then you should accept such things, Roonay made contact with the player, altough the Spanish player's body positioning clearly had more balance then Rooney as soon as the leg touches him, he pulls his thigh backwards and falls. If two athletes make contact like that you should clearly be able to stand.
02:05 - The Spanish player jumps with his ass in Rooney's face, Rooney correctly dosen't take that sh!t so he blocks it with his arm. "What a bad guy Rooney is" When the Spaniard falls he grabs his ankle altough that has nothing to do with the challange. Rooney says "f**k off", and gives his arm band away to leave the field.
02: 20 - I cannot see clearly what Torres did but Ashley over exagharated, he should have kept it cool but there is no doubt in my mind Torres did something intentionally to piss Ashley off.
02:25 - Then there are a series of good tackles, the Spanish forwards are not guarding the ball correctly (because they are not used to English play) so the English defenders own their asses and correctly tackle them, going in for the ball. Ashley Cole is fed up with their diving bull sh!t.
02-35 - Smith not being certain of the English inside of him dives to cope with the Spaniards.
02:50 - Then there are scenes of English players trying to kill the Spanish, lol just joking, but those challanges from the English are too aggressive and I hope atleast some of the Spanish players were trying to play fair but at the same time I saw alot of dives. No offence but if your legs are that f**ked up that you can't have them take any contact from cerain angles then stop playing football, I don't want to see that sh!t. Sure you have played for great clubs and the national team but get off the f**king field you selfish prick.
That might have not been the best video to support the thread but overal IF I HAD TO CHOOSE, I liked England's attitude more then Spain's. England where waaay more emotional and violent but the Spanish played more ugly, I don't want to see that diving crap.
In conclusion I think such a game happened because of a clash of two different types of footballing play and culture.
The video's comments and these of the thread are obviously mine, I won't change them and I'm not forcing you to change your opinion. The video is evidence of my claims, I interpretated it like I wanted to.
