Lets starts simple. I read all over the place how PES fans say that FIFA is scripted. I dont know if you guys are technologicaly declined or what because.........All video games are scripted. It is called the program. Just like a movie, without the script there is no movie. A game on the other hand, without the programming there is no game. If a game was not scripted then you would be able to do anything. There would be no rules, no boundries, if there was no script, then you could take a player on the field and run right out and into the stands. Every time I read that respose I want to roll on the floor and laugh. There is no such thing as "true" A.I. They are given variables and the A.I.(program) at random chooses which variable or string to run in a situation.

Next complaint I read more than often is how sluggish FIFA is. I guess you even forgot one of your own arguments. You say FIFA is made for the beginner, so would you not think the default settings are for the easier play. This reminds me of what someone said on another forum once. "I like the GFX and gameplay in ESPN College Hoops 2K5 but I play March Madness instead becaue the camera angle sucks in ESPN." My response to dumb comments like that and to the one of FIFA being sluggish. Pause the game you friggin retards and change the camera angle or up the speed to fast in FIFA. They set the defaults to easy. All EA games are set for the beginner. It may not be on the easiest setting but it is on one that will let any person pick up and play. Once FIFA is turned on fast the game is much more realistic and responsive like in PES.

PES fans also talk about the realism and all that. The players do not even run anywhere close to a real person. KONAMI could never make good running animations and it shows big time in PES. No human anywhere on earth can stop on a dime and run the way they do. In PES I can hold sprint and turn a 180 on a dime with the ball. Why, because the ball has no forward movement unless you make it. In FIFA they have to react to the ball. The ball is still moving forward while they are stopping, so in return they have to control the ball and make the 180 turn while moving one direction at full speed and trying to go another, which is not as simple in real life as PES makes it. Lets take another KONAMI game for instance. Have you ever looked at the way Snake runs in all the Metal Gear Solid games. He runs like an idot and it does not look real. Sam from Splinter Cell on the other hand looks as if he is really running. Don't get me wrong because the MGS series is the king of stealth games but Konami can not even make the animation for running in their extreme high budget game look good, let alone their soccer game.

Another issue is the fact of the ball reaction from anything. Watch your replays closer. The ball does not even touch their foot when they shoot from a lob. I dont know how that looks realistic to all of you.

I have also heard complaints of the ball not going where you want it to go in FIFA. This is because unlike PES where every pass is damn near perfect no matter if you aim or not, in FIFA you have to press the direction of where you want it to go exactly. I am sorry if this is to hard for you to figure out but when I make a pass in real life i have to aim it.

Another is of the fact that your CPU controlled players in FIFA dont find good open spots. Yes they do by the way, but I thought that we played games because we are in control. I would rather have a button to send a player on a run than just expect the A.I. to do it for me. I am playing a video game instead of just watching a game so I can be in control. The problem is that you just dont understand how to use the send a player on a run command.

I hear the term marketing gimmick about the "first touch control". If it was a marketing gimmick then there would be no real use for it. I find plenty of use for it. The main problem PES fans might have with it, is the fact that you cant use it all the time. Does constantly hitting the stiff arm button in an American Football game always work........no.

The worst part of all the debates is the fact that PES fans are playing the PC version of FIFA and comparing it to PES. Yes the PC version of FIFA 05 does suck. The XBOX version looks great. The PS2 version is not far behind at all for the outdated hardware. The gamecube version falls far down. Then the PC looks as if it fell out of the nest in a 100 ft. tree when it was born.

Let me end this by saying that I play both PES and FIFA. No it is not as if I didnt give PES a try. I have FIFA 05 on the PS2. When my girlfriend is using the TV and I want to play a game of soccer I play PES4(with the wolf's patch) on my PC. PES gets a fair amount of play from me. I am not saying that it is a bad game because it is far from a bad game. PES is a great game of footy. FIFA is better though. I will not deny that I couldnt care less for FIFA from 2001 to 2004. There were no changes. The game was the same year after year. All 2004 had over the other 3 was off the ball control, that wasnt enough to get me to buy the game instead of just keeping 2002.

I am sure the main problem is everyones disgust for EA anymore. I will admit that EA has failed to impress me with about everything but FIFA. The Madden series is the biggest POS on earth. I am sure we are all pissed about the EA and NFL contract even if you dont like American football for the same reason most people have something against M$. People hate monopolies. Take for example this. I am aware that the xbox looks better than the PS2 and is far more powerful, then again I am a PS2 fan for the simple fact that I will not give any of my hard earned money to M$.

Well there you have it. Every PES fan says that for there to be a real argument that someone needs to give better details on why FIFA is better. I just gave very in depth details. Let me give the pros and cons of both games since I am a veteran player of both series.

PES4

Pros.

Sharp field GFX
Great corner system
Very good ref system
Stadium variety that is visual

Cons.

Player movement is unrealistic (this sums it all up)
Ball has ALMOST no physics during dribbling (very disapointing for a game that is all about the ball)
commentary is bad...no let me say "my god turn it off"

FIFA 2005

Pros.

Realistic player movement
The ball has plenty of physics
real First touch control
multiple ways to take someone down. (last time I went to a game there was plenty of pull downs and elbows to the face like in FIFA)
good play by play
players will slide to intercept a pass, they dont just watch it go by
great attempts to keep the ball in play

Cons.
Corner system sucks
all stadiums look the same during play
ref calls way to many offsides

I don't want to agrue with you on the gameplay etc. because it is too obvous that you get it wrong 'imo'. From reading your PES pov, it sound that you don't actualy observe the game fully. The sad thing is:

maybe because most people say this exact sentance, "i downloaded the FIFA 05 demo"

it is also a good thing that you didnt argue because even your 3 lines didnt make sense and oh no im on the FIFA side  did you read the whole post, i play both games all the time but i like FIFA better, i love most PES arguments, they never make sense, they just spout stuff out and never give it clear thought, i am just waiting for the name calling and such because i like FIFA better, maturity levels never seem to amaze me

Well said. Now the PES fans have to come with arguments, which they hardly have. They always tell you which things suck in FIFA but they never say what's so good about PES.

hope i didnt offend you abot it not making sense, i didnt know ;)

no no no no, i have played PES4 on the PS2 also, the PC version of PES4 is almost identical to the ps2 version, as where the computer version of FIFA was just a very crappy port. see what im saying, konami did a good job of keeping the game the same on the PC, heck i cant even set the controls on my ps2 gamepad for the pc version of fifa, on PES4 i have it just like the ps2 version since i have a ps2 to usb adapter

From your Pros list of PES.. i think you should play it more often..play it with your soul ...hehe..

First of all do you play the game in 60hz?

When playing PES4 do you actualy use the super cancel(+ first touch control) or the 'move back from the ball'(R2+directonal away from ball) or defending using R2 + d-pad to watch the play dribble and tackle them at the right time or the dribbleing system? i would put them in Pros. If you would not why?

You said that it got great corner system but why not freekick which is the best ever(you can put it exectly where you want if know how to use it and it feel...well like taking a free you need to remember how hard to kick it etc. (i can score it every time if i use Beckham for short range and some long range(two so far with him around 35m)).

You said the player movement unrealistic, it only lack the sense of momentum of the player imo other than that superb to me (well thats your opinion).

Ball has almost no physics...are you serious?(its the most realistic so far to me the bounce etc. is perfect) you said you own the game...look again..carefuly

On the ref, I actualy don't like the ref..they should make him play advantage more often.

Sorry about the messy post.

Sorry about the messy post.

Since I play PES4 on my PC I play @ 85Hz, I do not have the problem you are thinking of with the ps2 and changing it to 60Hz, my TV supports both 50Hz and 60Hz. The dribbling system is far from realistic in PES4, this is also where I am talking about the ball having no physics, yes the ball has great bounce physics but I am more concerned about how the ball reacts to the way the player moves. The superfast 180's and such. About the freekick system. When far away both FIFA and PES4 have the exact same freekick system. Close to goal is a different story. That is why I did not list that. The player movement is unrealistic. I literally am talking about the running animation. It looks no different no matter what you are doing. They always look like idiots like as if they didnt use motion capturing for the animation. People do not run they way they do in PES. People do not swing their arms back and forth in perfect sync 20 times per second.

To me the physics on the dribbling system is perfect. The superfast 180's turn is exectly as in realife. The running is 'fine' to me but it would be alot better if they they can include head low and faster body movement animation. Maybe you are an over prefectionist... :p

Oh yeah...

Man I love this type of discussions.

But here is what I think FIFA needs (and why I am not buying it again):
1) Creation Zone (like in FIFA 2002)/ TEAM and Player Editor (what we have this year is pitiful)
2) More S. American Countries/ international teams:
-Ecuador (they were in the last World Cup yet EA took them out).
-Chile (country with a lot of World Cup experience)
-Peru (has important players in Spain, England, Germany: Rebosio, Pizarro, Solano etc.)
-Colombia (because it is not smart to make Colombians angry… just kidding some of my friends are from there)
Oh yeah, and where the hell is Holland (yes I know it is in Europe). Include Holland for 2006!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Include Japan and Korea too (just two of the hosts of WC 2002)!
3) Argentinean League
4) International Tournament (A real one this time, no time to take 15 minutes setting one up every time…ridiculous!!!!!!!!)
5) Rewards:
-Classic teams (Brazil’s 1962 team with Pele, Maradona with Napoli, etc)
-Unlock new moves (to be used during gameplay)
-Unlock Video Footage (best goals in a World Cup etc)
6) More passionate celebrations after scoring and after winning tournament
7) Give us the ability to tackle (foul) the keeper; it is our right OK!!!!!!!!
9) Keep menus simple like in FIFA 2002, 2003 etc.
8) Show animation for substitutions (like in FIFA 2002)
9) UEFA and ECC championships available
10) Put your face in the game option (like in the hockey games). Well, if it can be done.
11) COPA LIBERTADORES (Club Championship is just silly. The Libertadores is the biggest tournament in the Americas)
12) South American chants!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Darn, I am sick of how European EA makes this game. Hello, there are also soccer fans outside of Europe. Besides, don’t Europeans already get their own version of FIFA?
13) Don’t be afraid to freaking include more S. American clubs (besides Brazilian I mean... and no, we are not satisfied with you adding just two Argentinean team).
14) LET ME SEE SOME PASION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Show the crowd going nuts, the players acting bunkers after a goal.
15) BE CREATIVE (I know, I know, it is cold and stuff up there but still come on!!!!!!!!!). NEED HELP being creative? Play ESPN Football and learn about creativity, and giving buyers what they want...

As for W11, I will buy it for the first time soon enough and I will see for myself what you guys are arguing about.

Keep it going thou it is healthy to argue.

So let me get this straight. You are asking for things from FIFA that the PES series does not even come close to having. Dude FIFA has enough teams. This is where their major fault is. The more teams and authenticy you create, the less time you have to spend on gameplay. I feel in my own opinion, which everyone is inclined to, even PES fans, that FIFA has better gameplay anyways. Could I just reflect how much FIFA could be if they didnt spend all the time making teams, players, kits, balls, shoes, stadiums. FIFA would rock anything any company made. Yes I agree that they should bring back the creation zone, then again I have profound knowledge of the PS2, so in return I know how to edit the stats of the players and put them on different teams, add a team if I want to, then again the feature should be in the game for those who dont know how to do this. Editing a PS2 game requires knowing how to first extract every file from the game. Then figuring out how to access PS2 file formats, luckily this years FIFA had the exact same file of FIFA.db as the pc version so I could just put that file in my PC versions folder and open up creation center 2005 and edit my heart out. Once all editing is done then the image rebuilding comes into play. Not everyone has a modchip or way to play backups which henders this even more. Anyhoo, I only do this for the fun of it. I would rather play with the players normal stats than beefing them up. There is something gratifying about taking my team Germany (80 att, 85 mid, 85 def) and beating Brazil (92 att, 88 mid, 87 def) 3-1 on World Class difficulty. I use my created teams as my do fun tricks in practice mode team. Players with all 99 stats can do some pretty cool stuff. I do agree that if they are going to inclued some low level teams that they should all be there. We could always go back to when there was nothing but international teams. If you want to play UEFA then buy the UEFA game. Just for the record PES4 will not let you tackle the keeper either. I hope you have fun with PES4 once you get it. Even though I think FIFA is better, which I recommend owning FIFA 05 also, there is no denying that Konami has made PES4 one hell of a soccer game. See this is what I do not understand about most people here. Someone always wasnts to say that one is good and one is crap. Call me crazy but I do not see it this way. They are both great games, I just feel one has a small advantage over the other. It is like how ESPN to me was the better American football game, but madden was not crap, it just wasnt as good.

oh my got what the hell are u talking about man:kader:
i got both games in my xbox and buying fifa 2005 it was the biggest mistake i ever did, i just played it only for 1 week, after that is boring, the first touch its fun to play at the biganning but after few games its repetitive and the rest is ****.
buying pes4 its worth the money, its far better then fifa2005, this game is great, the gameplay is deep, more u play more u like the game, and i will be playing the game untill pes5 coems out

Those are your opinions and I respect them. PES4 is a good game. I do play it. It is my PC footy game and FIFA is my console footy game. I started this thread for people to state the pros and cons of both and state which they like better. I please ask anyone who wants to post, to not flame others or the game they do not like. So far this has been peaceful, which I appreciate very much. Remember we are all brothers and sisters here for one simple reason, we love this great sport  Football.

I have been playing the PES for over a year. You are right I did have to play it for myself to see how FIFA was better. Then again PES is a noble attempt.

Again you PES guys are talking about how deep the gameplay is compared to FIFA, but your explanation why it is so deep isn't deep at all.

The reason for this is because of one argument they bring forward. Your A.I. teammates do more on their own. Unlike FIFA where you control how plays are set up instead of just going with what your A.I. teammates give you. They fail to fully understand how to control your players off the ball with the different button combinations. I am not just talking about using the right analog stick on a PS2 or Xbox after you press the off-the-ball button. I understand how to control players so well in FIFA, that people b#tch at me for messing with them when playing me and I have the ball. PES fans, you have to give FIFA more of a try. I have given PES a whole year of a test, starting with PES3 and going to 4 late in 2004. It takes more than a month of playing to be able to even halfway fully exploit the player movements, on and off the ball. :mrpimp: I am still finding new moves and shot setups everytime I play. Yes, if all you do is play FIFA 05 and treat it like 02 or 03 then it will seem boring and repetitive.

Ok i have played both fifa 2005 and pes 4 on both platforms and i have to say i like pes 4 better, just my opinion. Anyway my one big grudge against fifa 2005 is the poor static ai. When playing multiplayer of fifa 2005 (played around 40-50 games), which you may not of played it gets repeditive, through balls, crosses which end up being netted the same way every game, i have tried new things with fifa such as chip runs, special moves, shooting from outside 18 yard box but by far its easier just to slot the ball through the defense and it works 50% of the time if you run your player, also because players stay in static positions its hard to open up defenses like you can in real life.

With pes i think the dpad controls is what is lacking but i would play pes over fifa and thats just my opinion, but in the end its all soccer so if you havent played fifa or pes i would try both and then you can pick from there.

Btw i tried different things in fifa to try to and make it play better but the ai just doesnt allow for it, and in the end gets frustrating.
