And the reason PES4 fans get upset is because to compare it to Fifa is actually a little insulting...a complete disregard for that un-explainable magical experience that I mentioned.

If you're passing is going astray, then you're not playing it right.
If you feel it lacks freedom then you are not playing it right.

Fleeting from one game to the other won't help you appreciate the subtleties either...

I have seen the light! My friends and I have been playing FIFA games since the very first one was introduced for the N64 (97 think) Most of us have even really heard of WE before and those who have played it for 2 mins and dismissed it because of the lack of official teams. I have looked at game reviews and noticed that WE has been said to be better than FIFA. I have been getting highly irritated with FIFA over recent years so I decided to buy WE last week and I have not been dissapointed. The gameplay is awesome. It's mostly the little things that make WE so good. Like the fact that players have a preferred foot to shoot and pass with. Shots that are taken off balance don't end up on target 95% of the time as they do in FIFA. While playing you can actually recognize players without peeking at their name bars. Home advantage is something I have always been looking for in sports games especially soccer. FIFA just seems so scripted, WE is not. Now I just have to convince all my friends to convert to WE like I did.

But that's exactly it. FIFA lacks something PES has got. It is beyond a 'feature' or an 'animation' it's just .... something. The "X" factor.

I recently stayed in Exeter for a couple of months and the person I stayed with only had Fifa2005. I played it all the time and actually really really liked it. It is a brilliant football game. I even considered converting to it myself. Then when I resturned home I played a game of PES4 again, and within one game I remembered just why this was the best game on the planet. It's just the feeling, the flow, the excitment... something else that Fifa lacks. You either 'get it' or you don't.

Most people convert from Fifa to PES, not the otherway round. That alone tells you something.

I am not a PES fan-boy, I just want to play the best football game that I can get. PES is that game. If Fifa was better I'd play that. it is just strange that you can't see this. Especially if you have played them both to a high level like you said you have.

The original Star-wars films were better than the new ones. The MAJORITY of people realise that. They had a certain magic that the new ones lack - yet on special effects, budget, action etc the new ones SHOULD be better, but they just lack...soul. (I know some people will not agree)

Can I just say that I guess you didnt play FIFA 05 did you? They do use their prefered foot. Pay attention. If you shoot or pass on the opposite foot it is not accurate either. Play the game before you make remarks like that one.

I think that just about every Pesfan used to be a Fifafan and so was I. Fifa has let me down with fifa2004 and probably a lot of other people too. Thats why we're such fanatics and we won't go back to fifa.

It's like some woman cheated on us. So what we're doing is we're bashing our ex and we moved along with the next best thing

Yet 99% of people who play both end up realising/admitting that PES4 is better. People convert from Fifa to PES not the other way around.

Your opinion counts for nothing itself, but the opinion of the masses make it obvious which is the better game. It is not by chance that PES4 out scores Fifa in the majority of magazine reviews either.

How hard is it: PES4 is the best football game at the moment. End of Story. Maybe next year things will be different... but till then.... deal with it.

Well according to this then FIFA is the better game hands down. FIFA more than outsells PES/WE every year. So to what you said, the masses show, FIFA is the better game. Watch what you say before posting. Im not tying to be an a$$ or anything but you set yourself up for that response.
Read most PES/WE reviews also. They have biased written all over them. They are all done by long time PES/WE fans. Don't believe me? Go check the newest review over @ IGN.com on WE8. If you have a brain then you will be able to tell it is biased within the second paragraph. I play both but that review was a crock of SH*T. Not once did they mention the insane amount of graphical tearing that goes on in the PS2 version. No, all they did was talk about how great the graphics were. As being a person into graphical beauty..........tearing is a graphical problem. Explain how a game that tears all over the place has a better graphics rating than the one that doesnt. Its hard to even play with all the tearing going on. I feel that I wasted my money just to have the NTSC version of the game for PS2. I should have just said forget it and kept on playing my PC version of PES4, where I can force v-sync to stop tearing and run the game @ 85Hz for smoother gameplay. What did Konami think, if they turned off v-sync on the PS2 version it would make it run faster. It didnt need to be faster. PES4 PAL ran just friggin fine and we get the crap conversion that tears. I already had a problem with most player animations and now this is the tip of the iceberg. I like PES4 and I do find FIFA and it almost equal in gameplay. Like most PES fans say, which is true, you have to play the game more to learn and do all the moves and have creativity. Well FIFA 05 is the same way.

FIFA 2005 sucks because it has 450mph shots on goal. as soon as u tap the shoot button the ball is already in the net. to score goals all you need to do is this.....lets say youre attacking -------> that way. hold the analog stick --------> and keep pressing X, then as you get near the goal press triangle and then tap O. and there u have it. reapeat for more goals. you can even go thru a whole career scoring the same goals. oh and i cant forget about the nice passes, you can be facing the opposite direction and somehow the pass reaches your player like you were squared up perfectly. it is pretty fun if you have online and want to talk **** on the mic and when you want to kill time waiting for WE. thats about it.

WE 8 is good because. shots are realistic. if your not in a good position and if your body isnt in a shooting position, the shots will go off just like they would in real life. passing is difficult, you cant just hold the direction in which youre attacking and keep pressing X. moves are better. you can edit everything you want to. better atmosphere. not all the games feel the same. even when you get very good at a certain difficulty, you can still lose games. its unpredictable in other words. theres much more but i gotta go play WE 8 now. no time to write more.

that's what i think about both games and other people have different views and that's fine too. wat i wrote is my opinion and everyone is entitled to one so please save yourself time and writing and dont go arguing with wat i said.

I,m not going to argue Bayern ...
But i will suggest that, the next time you play Fifa, you play the game on Semi Pro , Pro or WC and not Amateur ...

Also, the power of your shots depend on how long you hold the shooting button for.
The longer you hold it down, the more power in the shot.
To get shots at the speed that you say, you would need the power meter in the Red. which would make the shot off target.

I usually score just as many Low placed driven goals, as i do Top corner screamers. As well as the odd header and tap in ...

It,s not a bad game really ... When you learn how to play it properly...

Again, typical PES/WE fans arguments. These things are mentioned by every PES/WE fan because they think it sums up why the FIFA gameplay is so bad according to them.
I agree about the shooting speed. When you press the shooting button longer the shots will travel a bit to fast.
About the passing, well, I can´t agree about that, only when playing on amateur, and I think that´s what you have done. No surprise you scored the same goals over and over again.
Shooting in WE8 isn´t much more realistic looking as it is in FIFA. In FIFA the player hits the ball when he shoots 99% of the time. In WE8/PES4 the player doesn´t even hit the ball when shooting in at least 7% of the shots, especially volleys. Shots don´t always get on target in FIFA when you aren´t facing the goal. Again, maybe on amateur.

Stop playing the game on amateur!!!!!!! This is the normal response from a PES/WE fan that only played on amateur or maybe semi-pro. Sure when you play at those levels you can just blindly press pass and then shoot when close enough. I have never just had the ball go in the net the second I tap the shoot button. On Professional or World Class have fun with that. The goalie is no longer an idiot to that stuff, if you can even get that close on PRO or WC. Normal shots are not 450mph. When you hold the shoot button that long you are 90% of the time going to be off target. Can I get a goalkick?

This one is just where I got a good hard laugh. Once again stop playing on amateur I couldn't tell you how many times a pass is intercepted when on Professional or World Class. Might I also add how almost every player in PES/WE can do a heel pass, as where in FIFA they require a VERY HIGH skill rating to pull it off. So since almost every player in PES/WE can do a heel pass wouldn't what you said "you can be facing the opposite direction and somehow the pass reaches your player", make PES/WE the game for you to complain about passing.

Hmmm.....I think we still have a case of AMATEUR! I have plenty of off headers. Sometimes my players miss a cross or it bounces off their body into the defenders reach and there goes the clearence. Also watch the goals on the link at the bottom of this page. The first one explains how you are wrong. The first goal on that link is a person that was holding sprint and running along with the goal from a pretty good distance and it was not off at all.

Um......the atmosphere is much better in FIFA. I have both games and in Dolby Sourround II on the PS2 WE8I sounds like a MLS game in comparison. Here is more info for ya. I was playing my career last night. I had the setting on Professional. Went up against a 1.5 star team with my 3.5 star team. This game I won 5-0. Next game was against a 3 star team and oh boy was that a fun game. Their Team 0-1 at halftime, 1-1 at end, and since I was in the knockout rounds we went to overtime only for me to get a fluke goal 30 secs before the end of the first overtime. After which I continued to hold off their attack for the remainder of the game to come out alive @ 2-1. I have lost before. What am I talking about I lost the game before those two. Try turning the difficulty up next time there buddy.


Let me also make a fool out of any PES fan that wants to make one of three arguments.
1. "Shots all look different in PES." This is bullcrap. Go ahead and keep saying it. I have proof that they all look alike just as in FIFA. The same shooting animation over and over. I think I saw maybe 3 different ones.
2. "In FIFA you can shoot and score from far outside the box, in PES this doesnt happen." 90% of what you will see on the link below are outside the box, not to mention the ones that are FAR.
3. "The keeper is smarter in PES." HAHAHAHA the keeper just watches the ball go by in a lot of the shots in the linked thread. Hmmm he reminds me of superman sometimes also.
