IGN USA give an even poorer review of FIFA07!

I'll warn you in advance before you read it: THE REVIEWER DOES CLEARLY NOT KNOW HOW TO PLAY THE GAME! All of the faults pointed out in that review are 100% down to user error!

For example, here are a few snippets I will point out;

too often players will take shots from inside the six-yard box and not even get the ball on goal. Some of these guys couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat.

Are they trying to score with defenders? Seriously I have never missed a point blank shot on target from inside the penalty area, headers ... yes ... but tap-ins from the 6 yard box? Get the **** outta here!

The passes are accurate enough, but the players receiving the pass are stuck on a rail. It's something every kid learns in under-10 youth soccer -- don't wait for the ball. Even after you've auto-switched to the player receiving the pass, you can't move him toward the ball. He's stuck. On through-ball passes, the receiver is stuck on a rail and can't break off early to cut off the pass. He's stuck.

Tried using the cancel button? PES has it ... so does FIFA now.(It's the LB button for those wondering.)

As for the aerial through-pass, it is pretty much broken. On the Xbox, you can drop the ball into the corners and let your forwards run into open space to get it. You could tap the Y button to hit a nearby player; you could hold it down for a long pass. Not so on 360. You can only send the ball to the player closest to you. This is problematic on defense, when you want to send the ball deep for a long counter-attack.

Thre is a little bit of truth to this, the through ball does only only go to the player nearest you ... however if you target a man further up the field who is in space, it will go through to him ... again, another user error.

What's worse, the right stick is basically useless as your player is stuck on a rail and forced to run wherever you flick the ball. It would have been much more effective to flick the ball into open space and be able to run to it; to be able to flick the ball past a defender on the right, run around to the left and meet the ball on the other side.

You can do that.

The commentary is some of the worst I've heard in years -- Andy Gray and Martin Tyler do a fine job for Sky Sports in Europe, but in FIFA 07 they are dull and lifeless, often falling behind the action.

Just what we always wanted! Still no mention of the Create mode and challenge mode, either.

Make of it what you will ... but I highly disagree with the ridiculous score it got.

All that review says to me is 'I'm a dumb sh!t who thought this game would be easy and since I haven't mastered nor bothered to learn the controls after 2 games of play, I am going to give it a poor score'.

Dumb f*cker. That is a disgrace to football game reviews. And yet PES will prob get a higher score and by god that is crap.

Also, the commentary is EXCELLENT! like really f*cking excellent!!!!!! this guy needs to shut the hell up cause if he thinks this is poor commentary, he should really listen to current-gen or other footy games in which it is by far worse than FIFA 07 360. F*ck sake this guy is a tool.

Well to be honest, I only read Eurogamer's review when it comes to football and I must say, I was very enthused by their review of this game.

EUROGAMER's review's closing comments:

"FIFA 07's technological superiority will definitely go a long way to providing the wow factor that's needed to tempt the next gen punters, and its initial fast, exciting accessibility both off and online is something many of us have been crying out for. But as much as we wanted to hail EA's proactive progressive approach to FIFA as the great slayer of Konami's complacency, the fact remains that PES6 is marginally the better game in ways that matter.

Next year might be a different story. Watch your back, Konami."

May not be the best game but it sure as hell sounds like a great game to me not to mention an excellent start in the nex gen era. I will be getting it today right here in A-T-L Georgia.

This has to be the most controversial game ever as far as ratings go. For every 10 people giving it superb reviews, there are 10 people giving it really bad reviews. I mean, how does this happen? Football is pretty straightforward to understand. Then again God knows who's reviewing. Could be a 16 year old with his first real experience playing a football game that cannot get the hang of it, doesn't have the patience to learn, etc. or some guy who just got into football who is biased or God knows!!!

The reviews I'd be interested in reading are ones from people who have been playing all types of football games for at leat 5 years. These reviews are getting annoying. I shall go get my copy already

This is not true! what game have they been playing?, I can pass to anyone on the field or into open space, didn't they see "passing-assistance" meter, makes me wonder if they really dug into the game.

Fifa 07 on 360 is awful, there is no doubt about that, the grpahics of the players look nothing like them at all, except Ronaldinho

the gameplay is very poor, doesn't feel like your playing a proper game of football. The ball hitting the net is so plain and doesn't have much of a bounceyness

Nah it aint the worst its actually very good and I think at times very realistic. Your right about the graphics and player likenesses but PES on 360 doesnt look half as good as it should do! Konami didnt pull their finger out and work hard enough on the Next Gen version.. this is what they have to show for a year and a halfs work on a 360 Dev Unit? Gameplay isnt poor I actually find it realistic and the CPU doesnt talk rubbish like it does on PES. FIFA 07 feels more free than PES6 in total agreement with you about the ball hitting the net that looks awful too no real sense of power!

Nope it's not there yet, there still feels like some restrictions and it is not as wide open as Pro Evo but the gameplay is very realistic to me, it looks like a real game whereas Pro Evo feels like a real game.

I have been playing FIFA since Fifa World Cup on the 3DO and I remember the days around 2001 when I read about a game in Europe called Winning Eleven for the PS2 yet to be released in the U.S. went out and imported this game for $100.00, hands down the best sports gaming experience I ever had. Those were good days

If I had to rate FIFA, I would give it an 8.2 out of 10

Gameplay, 8 out of 10
Graphics, 6 out of 10,
(lighting needs to be better not to mention the faces, too cartoony IMO)
Audio, 8 out of 10,
(I am not really big on audio)

one point is that I'm pretty sure if more leagues and some tournaments were there- all those scores would be much higher.
I've only played the demo and think its great...when people say that they like the current generation better- they are probably looking for more of an arcade game.
I will comment more later after I buy the full game...

Dont worry about IGN, they a are so bad players as reviewers, for font to say PESfans. I dont know what the hell is doing this guy reviewing.

Anyway, there´s a lot of great gamesites (i dont count IGN sure, indeed i didnt read the review) that sometimes do a mistakes that you can believe. Gamespot is a really great game site, but after of so long years, is normal to make mistakes, like the score for Dark Messiah that dids controversial within the fans, that score this game much, much, much higher.

So, if you are not sure, test the demo (game is much better, more smooth, no slowdowns in replays or cut-scenes, etc) if you are not convinced, then rent it and play it a few days (dont play it for 20 minutes like the IGN friend...pffff). If you are not convinced, your option.....uffff....it hurts.....your option is PES6.

Yes, players has not resemblance, overall Rooney, Juninho, Gio, Raúl, Ronaldo, Kahn, Becks, Sergio Ramos, Torres, Villa, Drogba, Robben, Casillas, Dida.......i pass to count the 1000 faces. But im agree, Ronaldinho is the worst face that i had seen ever, overall with that sweat, his cinematic movements, how he shoots the kicks, etc.....is horrible.....ahem.

Yeah, gameplay is poor, i didnt feel like in a football game, my cousin neither, when he was wacthing how i play during 2 macthes only for the pleasure of to see a real TV macth, orgasm when i pased him my gamepad. And sure, after score a goal in a Barça-Madrid, the first thing that it comes to my mind is how the ball is hitting the net or how it bounces when passes the goal line.....pfffff (thing that is not real, ball bounces perfectly)

Agree, fifa is worst played in 360, i think that i will put my 360 on the thrash, and i buy the ps2 or pc version....no....better the pc version with this great last pacth that all people is talking about how good the game is now.

Well folks. I started playing FIFA 07 demo few days ago and got my real copy on Wednesday. I don't know what to say. Being a PES/WE fan for many years this would be the first FIFA game I played in many years so ofcourse its hard to get used to it.

As much as I like FIFA 07 there are some things that simply ruin the game completely. At first glance everything seems fine, perfect but as you dig in deeper and deeper you discover these pathetic errors that EA never seemed to fix. I don't know if they are watching a real football but WHY IN THE NAME OF GOD do they have those BRICKWALL nets ?? I don't understand. How hard is to make good net animations ?? When you score a goal if its a powerful shot the net will move a bit but it will make that METALIC sound like the net was made out of chain or something. And if you score a close goal the net won't even move...AT ALL.. :boohoo:

I don't know what to think of this game anymore.. it feels UNBALANCED, period.

LMAO, that guy who did the review has a strange sense of things, i dont think he is all there, honestly, prolly outa some workshop for a day, anyway..................i have been playing the retail version for a couple of weeks now and i disagree with everything that nut said.

Thru balls work great, when i read about the thru ball issue b4 i purchased my copy i was worried, thru balls are damn important, so when i did get the game my fears were disolved, thru balls work just fine, better than fine for me infact, anyone having problems with thru balls, trust me its YOU!............besides there is a very simple alternative, put pass assist to "ZERO" slider all the way left, now you can put the ball where you like, just use the lob, with practice you can put the ball anywhere, i do it and am loving it, you can also use the pass button to put balls ahead of your player, behind them if you like, no excuse with this game, its all user ability and the more you play the more you can do, pure and bloody simple mate.

Players not moving toward pass, WRONG, they do, take control of them straight after the pass and run them onto ball, a 5 year old can do it, if you cant then shame on you!

Commentating?? this has to be the stupidest comment on FIFA07 commentry, if you mean to tell me that there is another football game with better commentry than this, and if you think its PES, go jump off a bridge, for a start PES leads the way in how to NOT do commentry, FIFA07 commentry is the best yet period, its not perfect, Martin gets some calls wrong, Andy talking about shot power versus accuracy after every miss gets tiring, BUT as far as enthusiasm, and creating an atmosphere, and also talking like commentaters do, then this is the best yet EASILY, if you think otherwise, find that bridge!

Net Physics are not the best, they could have done a better job on them, the sound of ball on uprights and crossbar are good, at 1st i didnt hear them, i think putting SFX sound setting right up full, all the way to the right brings up the volume of all that plus the refs whistle, i think, dont flame me if im wrong, but i think i am right, ball hitting the net does not sound metallic, it doesnt sound "netty" either, but im sure i have heard that sound in real games, it doesnt sound unfamiliar to me, honest.

To everyone playing this game, dudes and chicks, enjoy it, take your time with it it is a good game, as far as football goes this is the best package for the 360 and there is some depth to it thanx to player attributes which i am loving, taking a lowly team like WATFORD and building it is very rewarding for me, and to actually see the difference in the players when you improve them game after game is GREAT.............all in all i have to say that coming from PES back to FIFA is a trip, but who cares who makes the best football game, aslong as there is 1 to chose, ill play it, and right now its FIFA07 360, damn straight.
