I have read the whole article, and i must say i m sorry my government is so strict with its kurdish minority policies. but you have to try to understand, most of the kurds in the east welcomes and provokes kurdish bandits, terrorists who kills man, women , children, we send them teachers, doctors etc from the big cities, but they get killed by kurdish terrorists. this has been going on for more than i can remember, and trust me you dont want to know how many innocent doctors, teachers or any other random civilians have died so far..
We need to be more open-minded about this whole kurdish deal, i totally agree with that, but its going to take more time than people think. we have just suffered so much from these bloody killers(ofcourse not saying all kurds are killers) we basicallly need time, we will sooner or later get more lenient and open-minded when deal with the kurdish case, but you have to understand our government is simply scared, there is a civil war in iraq for example and if that country get divided, the kurds in the northern iraq will declare that its a kurdish state, if that happens we believe the kurds in turkey will also revolt. if that happens, things will get so much worse because the turkish army(8th strongest in the world) will intervene into eastern part of turkey & northern iraq.
I have told you all this so you can understand how we feel when we deal with kurds, ofcourse it gives us no right at all to limit some of their rights , and i hope that changes soon, but i hope you can also understand we have suffered a lot from these people..
You should also know we do allow kurdish singers to sing in their own language and this is a total lie. to give you a name, Ibrahim Tatlises, a famous kurdish singer and he is one of the top singers in Turkey, millions of people listen to him, Turkish, Kurdish , everybody. and he or other singers are not in prison at all. There is not a policy like that in our country.
Lastly, our country is about 10-15 times or maybe more bigger than yours. And our population is maybe even more than that. Even istanbul is more than 10 times more crowded than your whole country. So dont think that you are soo great and you have no problems, your country is no better than Turkey trust me, you just dont see it. You are a small country with smaller problems. Look at our neighbours and tell me how many problems we could possibly face.

So why not leave them alone and let them have their Kurdish state?

yeah that makes sense. so why not England leave IRA alone and let them have their state, or why not Spain leave ETA alone and let them have their Basqonian state?

Those situations are completly different than Turkey and the Kurds...Northern Ireland is more about nationalists versus unionists. Are there Kurds who vocally want to be part of Turkey?

The Basque region does have it's own state, not completely independent, but they have a certain degree of autonomy and historic rights to their homeland. Besides, both the Basque region and N. Ireland are politically involved in their respective regions, do Kurds have representatives in the Turkish parliament?

Probably not a good idea for you to use ETA and the IRA (who only have a political wing anymore) as a comparison to Kurds in general, because that implies that those terrorist groups represent all the people in those regions. That's like saying, why not leave al qaeda alone and leave the middle east..

..

Yes. around 5-10%. Not as a party organization though because of the 10% limit -so called-. (which means a political party should collect %10 of all votes to get their candidates into the assembly. That excludes unattached candidates -they`re going for this way-)

besides, the political party representing kurds is having around %7 of the votes in elections. Kurdish population in Turkey is far more greater than that value.

It sounded that way but it isnt. I mean, can you imagine a country letting someone take some of their soil, to create a new country. Would England do that? Would Spain?

I worked for a huge multi national private health company in England for 10 years (BUPA), and they have a disciplinary procedure in place for employees who talk in their own language to each other. This is banned at all times even in break times.

This is a company that employs and relies on a workforce from racially diverse backgrounds, but they must all speak English at all times. This policy has, according to BUPA, the backing of the Government in England.

Just an example that intolerance towards minorities is in place everywhere.
