Improved Pitch/Turf and Goal Nets

Taking inspiration from Federico's turf mod, I decided to give it a shot and try to make my own modifications for my liking, since Federico's mod doesn't include Small Horizontal mow pattern.

Download Links V2.0:

*fbmod (frosty manager) and DDS files included*
*Increased textures resolutions up to 8x*

Improved Turfs 2.0 UHQ

MediaFire

Improved Turfs 2.0 UHQ-Clean

Entries location to install with CGFE:

Default

Modded V2 UHQ (Increased Color Brightness and added noise and wear effects)

Modded V2 UHQ - Clean (This is an alternative version, in case you face any lighting glitches and wanna try something else: (no change in colors, thus less wear effects)

Goalnets:

I made a video showing the difference between 3 goalnets. My favourite one, is the second one. It looks like the default one, but the animations lasts longer, and it bounces off the ball in a more realistic way. Watch carefully.

DEFAULT
SOCCERNET_BOX_DEEP_LOOSE_4_SUPPORTS=1
SOCCERNET_BOX_NORMAL_TENSE_4_SUPPORTS=1

GoalNet depth was set to 170

Youtube video:

To change the goalnet style, just put one of the codes above, into locale.ini.
This file is located at:
"C: \Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\FIFA 18\Data\"

So, if you have chosen the third code, the beginning of the file should look something like that:

Code:
SOCCERNET_BOX_NORMAL_TENSE_4_SUPPORTS=1
[LOCALE]
SKU=WW
USE_LANGUAGE_SELECT = 0
PUBLISHING_REGION = WW
DEFAULT_LANGUAGE = eng,us
AVAILABLE_LANG_1 = eng,us
AVAILABLE_LANG_2 = fre,fr
AVAILABLE_LANG_3 = ger,de
AVAILABLE_LANG_4 = ita,it
AVAILABLE_LANG_5 = spa,es
............

Wow wee, those default vs modded pics really show the difference, great job. Very interested in downloading if the files can be added via CGFE, I don't use Frosty. Thanks.

Very nice turfs, I would love to have them.
You used photoshop? And how did you achieved that luminosity?
I tryed via photoshop but I don't quite like the result.

Yeah, I have used PS. Well, I haven't tried other approaches yet, but the only thing that seems to work, is to decrease or increase brightness. The color detection is quite tricky, so I won't even try to change it. The game reads just some levels of a specific color as you might have noticed.

I'm new at modding FIFA, in fact, I just started to try out some stuff in this FIFA 18, so I'm not sure I'm using the best methods out there.

Anyway, to save the file, I have used Normal Map and BC5 8bpp Compression. Mip Map Auto Generated.

As I have said above, I'm new at modding FIFA, so I haven't even tried CGFE yet, but I'll try my best. Cheers.

Using only Frosty Editor.
Oh ok. So do you edit the files and then import them into Frosty? If so, then those files can probably be easily imported into CGFE. Maybe all you have to do is upload the edited files, and then people can import them into CGFE themselves...? I don't know how Frosty works so I'm not exactly sure what we're talking about here.

Yeah, that's exactly what I do. The only difference, is that after I'm done importing the files, I can export all the modifications to a "mod file" that can easily be installed with Frosty Mod Manager, just by double clicking on it. No needing to import file by file, like the way you mentioned with CGFE. It sounds way easier for someone else to install, and I think this way, modders can avoid someone else from taking their files - stealing - and sharing as their own, but I'm not sure tho. I don't know if an exported Frostyfile file is somehow extractable.

If you're worried about people stealing your files, you should stick with Frosty. With CGFE, people can access your mod and export edited files. I was suggesting uploading the files because you said you're a beginner and don't know how to use CGFE. But it's your call. I personally don't understand why people care about others stealing files. If you make your files available online, people are going to use and abuse them, that's the way the internet works. The only safe option is to not upload anything.

Something else: There's no such thing as stealing files because the files all belong to EA. And even files created from scratch (kit files etc) are based on EA's original files, and would be useless without EA's game. If I borrow a car from the Honda dealership lot and paint it to look like the Batmobile, it might be cool to look at, but the car still belongs to Honda. It's not my car mod, it's just a car I stole and painted. ;)

You could upload the modified files as png. only so that we all could enjoy this good pitch with cfge explorer.
If you'll make a frosty mod then it will be available only to a few and given that mods can not be edited it will be hard to use.
Just saying, your work and is for you to decide what you;ll do with it, but isn't that the purpose of modding itself, sharing and perfecting?
As for stealing....to do what? A patch with your files inside and not give credit? This will mean that the thief apreciated your work.
Anyway, I like those colours on the grass, hope you'll change your mind especially because I know how hard is to achuieve this in fifa 18, having lost hours myself.

They do look good, HUGE improvement. Maybe they even improve the ugly hazy yellow stadiums with the barf yellow turfs.
Yeah, this year the pitch itself is very sensible to colour change and the luminosity of the grass can be tunned only by working with colours.
A few month ago I tried to edit the pitch in photoshop but it just got very bright and not pleasant for the eye. Maybe it was due to the fact that frosty editor could load defferent the files, I don't know, but I'll give it another try with cfge and see what comes out of it. If it's ok i'll share.

I agree with you and I'm definitely going to share it. I'm not worried about stealing, I was just saying it might be the reason some modders use it in some cases, but me personally, I think it's just easier to install.

I just have to finish editing some other patterns and I'll try to upload the files as soon as I get it done.

What stadiums are you talking about, so I can try to make specific improvements?

As qasar has pointed out, the pitch is very sensible to color changes, so it's really hard to find some good settings. I was trying to understand how exactly the game reads the colors, but I gave up. I tried other things then.

That would be cool. There are quite a few, day time lighting. Azteca is one, look at that. EA went nuts with the yellow RGB on the "hot country" stadiums, obviously to emulate scorching weather or some damn thing. Except the colour they ended up with was baby diaper excrement.

I see, haha. Well, I noticed that EA's latest update seems to have changed it, but here are some screens to show the difference with both versions:

Default EA before last patch (I don't know what's the game version, I forgot to check):

Default with EA latest WC update:

And just to clarify, It's really hard to change the colors, because it relies on the Stadium Lighting effects and I have no idea how to change it. I'm only being able to make a more clear texture and applying some effects on turf patterns. The final result is what matters, and I'm really enjoying it so far. I hope you guys do as well.

Last one I mean.

The colors are only editable by changing the stadium ligthing effects, and as far as I know, it's not possible to do it with the tools we have at our disposal. But...we can still edit the textures itself, and for me, it's enough. :D

Download links on main post. I hope you guys enjoy it.

Many thanks. The CGFE files are in DDS format, and so your PNG files won't import. I suppose I have to download a DDS extension for my Photoshop program in order to convert.

Install: bundles/content/worlds/pitch.
