The screen isn't that much better than the S2 to be honest. Yeah it's HD, but it's Super Amoled, not Super Amoled Plus. Meaning pentile matrix, meaning less sub pixels (and not as good colours as the plus on the SGS2). Also as the screen is so huge, the pixels per inch aren't that high either.

These are the real specs of the SGSIII:

Shame that it still looks like its made from cheap plastic. That's the only thing I hate with Samsung phones.

Looks like the same drawbacks from SGSII; crap battery, only one gig RAM and a slightly better camera. Although that looks like that's the international version, which isn't like mine.

US versions will be different anyway.

I like plastic, so much lighter, and metal chips and dents just as easily.

No Super Amoled Plus, and only 1GB RAM is disappointing. Quad core, and 12mp is exciting.

I don't believe those specs are official. I've read loads they says Samsung won't go to pentile display on a flag ship handset.

The plastic doesn't change the price of the handset much...aluminium or plastic are going to be a couple of dollars different. Plastic is used by Samsung for weight, and I think weight is a huge consideration for something you're carrying in your pocket most of the day.

Na, Samsung have officially announced that it'll be..err..announced on May 3rd.

I'm expecting it to be slightly underwhelming to be honest. An awesome handset, but we're that ready for it, it can only under deliver on some of the rumours.

I think we'll see 4.6 (I hope no bigger than 4.7 at absolute max!!), 576 X 1024 Super Amoled Plus screen. I think it'll only have 1GB of RAM (which I think is disappointing, as it's what the SGS2 has), I think it'll be Quad Core at around 1.5GHz and will probably be available in a 16GB and 32GB version. I wouldn't even be surprised if they kept the camera at 8mp.

Nothing there that will make me upgrade really. Means I can skip a generation and go the SGS4 :D

Unless they really release something special!!

Though rumours are of waterproofing, wireless charging, and these sorts of advancements are nice, I'm not sure any of it really appeals to me THAT much. NFC is probably in that category too.

Yeah disappointing that the announcement was just to tell that it will be revealed on the 3rd. Most people knew about that already.

I love the part where they showed the flock of sleeps. Likely a dig at iPhone fans :D

I hated it at first but it's so sleek and light that I've grown to prefer it.

Samsung had done great lately. I got me the Nexus i9250 and works like a charm. The screen is ace, 1.2 gig processor and it helps that it is the official Google phone, as i get first bites on updated.

As far as this tablet business goes, i'd much rather get an asus transformer prime for less than $300 nowdays than the overrated and over-hyped iPad. Just my 2 cents.

Btw the new HTC One X also looks gangzta, and with a quad core processor it is a beast. To bad the T-Mobile version (named HTC One S) is going to be only dual core. Onother reason i did not wait and opted for the Nexus instead.

I'm not a huge fan of the Galaxy Nexus to be honest. I like it, but I'd prefer the Galaxy S2.

I like the SD Card slot AND on board memory, and I like the Super AMOLED Plus Screen (RGB instead of RGBG) and I like the superior graphics chip.

They're both good phones, I just think the SGS2 is a better phone. I thought the same about the Nexus S compared to the original Galaxy S.

Generally Samsung add a couple of features to Google's Nexus series, but also take away a couple, so that it isn't clearly superior to their own flag ship.

Really keen to see the specs of the SGS3 when it's announced. I think it'll be an anti-climax (whilst still probably being on par on slightly better than the One X), but I really hope they'll surprise us, and blow us out of the water. I'd love to see something phenomenal.

The nexus's UI is way better than Samsung's Touchwiz. I hate the Samsung UI. The Nexus's design is much better as well. Otherwise the Samsung galaxy S2 is still the best. I would be tempted to try the Googne nexus simply because I hate the samsung KIES and user interface on the Samsung Galaxy S that I have. I'm waiting for the S3 to come out to decide on that.

Touchwiz is ******* terrible. That's my only gripe about Samsung. Thankfully there are countless launchers that can be installed whether rooted or not.

Yeah, easy to get rid of touch wiz. And outside the US easy to install a ROM without it.

To be honest some touch wiz functions aren't that bad, the main thing that annoys me is the launcher, and the main annoying things in that are lack of customisations and the app drawer not sorting by name automatically

I use basically stock ICS on my SGS2. Software is easily fixed, you can't fix hardware shortcomings.

Even just using Launcher Pro or ADW gives a close to Gingerbread stock experience.

The Kies stuff is the same story again, get a decent ROM, and it doesn't use Kies.

As for the design, I disagree, I like the lighter weight, and thinner Samsung branded phones over their google cousins. People always talk about the plastic like it's a bad thing, but metal does little but add weight to the phone, and makes people feel like they have something better in their hands.

I meant the shape of the phone actually. The Nexus's shape makes the phone look sexier.

Btw I had a look at the One X today. It looks awesome. Beautiful screen, great processor, Beats audio etc. I think it is the best phone at the moment. Too bad the Canadian versions are all dual core :nape:

Not a One "X" if it's dual core??

They probably are the best current phone, but beats audio is overrated, and not a selling point IMO.

Phone shape to me isn't really relevant unless it looks REALLY bad, or interferes with function. I LOVE the thinness of my SGS2

Oh sorry, on further research there is a dual core One X.

I thought it was only the One V and One S that were Dual Core.

I hate when phone companies do that. It's not the same handset, why do it?

Samsung call them all Galaxy S 2, but atleast give them different 'model numbers' (i9100 etc).
