Is Matchday Commentary Supposed To Appear In Career Mode?

In other words, say you play Man Utd vs Man City in an ordinary Kickoff match, with Matchday on, it'll talk about Van Persie and how he's in form etc.

Thing is, it doesn't happen in CM - is it supposed to? RvP's photo appears, with how many goals he's scored, but the commentators don't mention a thing. Rooney was also going through a long goal drought - the CM 'news popups' mentioned it but once again, in game - not a whisper.

Is that how it's supposed to be? If so, what a missed opportunity, EA - it really negates the 'Matchday' feature for me if it doesn't work during Career Mode.

I dont think so, Match Day seems to work only in the 'Match Day' section of the game. I think it's pretty logic, considering 'real-life' form and events don't reflect your Career form and events

The commentators talk about your players/club form and recent events that happen in your Career though, I believe it's better this way.

i agree, it wouldnt make sense to hear about rooneys xx goal in real life when in the career he only has 12 for example.

That's just my point. The player's photo comes up on the match formation screen just before kickoff, but the commentators don't say a thing. I'm not hearing 'X' is an in form striker at the moment, he's the main threat etc. Yesterday, I got a popup about Rooney having a goal drought - in Matchday when that happened, they mention it. In CM, not a whisper. Is there something I have to set up?

When I said 'matchday' commentary, I obviously didn't mean what was going on in real life - I meant a Matchday style commentary that plays during CM. I'm not seeing it.

Nope, sorry to say bud

Match Day commentary only works in the match day mode;

It won't work in Career Mode, because your career mode doesn't keep updating. If your doing a Live Season, then the commentators will keep you up to date with everything.

How do you mean the CM doesn't update? Things change: strikers get more goals, or they go on goal droughts - players get unhappy, new players join - I don't understand how EA can't make the game comment on these things during CM. They don't even say anything when a player gets his first goal for the club - for me, this is a huge missed opportunity. Surely something like this is tailor made for a mode like Career Mode?

Oh well - should be used to EA coming up with great features and then not implementing them to their full potential - like the Custom chants. It could be so good, but right now it is a heavily flawed system and they have done nothing to it apparently.

Shame, the game's still great but a CM commentary that dynamically responds to what's going on in your own CM would've been a great touch.

By the way, I just played against Chelsea at the Emirates. The crowd was booing Ashley Cole every time he was touching the ball and the commentator said "You would expect them to boo him with all the history". I just loved that, I only hope they boo Van Pursie too

He finally scored after sixteen games - again, not a whisper from the commentators. EA, you have done this the wrong way round - you've given the dynamic commentary to the wrong modes - CM was born for this sort of stuff!

Yeah, the booing is a good touch although it would be better if they didn't carry it on for the whole match - that rarely happens. It's still very disappointing that the CM commentary isn't as 'in depth' as the Matchday commentary. Oh well, ce la vie. It's still a great game.

OK, now Rooney went on another goal drought, and this time the commentators picked up on it when he finally scored. Seems to be entirely random if it works or not for me. Shame, it could've been such a great feature - but like the custom chants, it needs a lot of work.

It's interesting what different people like and want. In FIFA 12, I've changed many players' IDs so there's no commentary or commentary remarks for them whatsoever. One thing I can't stand is hearing the exact same commentary remarks and asides about the same players, match after match. I prefer hearing nothing at all, not even their names, if those are my only two audio options.
