Juventus turn down Chelsea offer for Davids

Italian champions Juventus said Thursday they had turned down a bid from English Premiership club Chelsea for Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids. "It's true we have received an offer from Chelsea but we refused it," Juventus' general director Luciano Moggi said.
"Davids is staying because he is important for the club's future."

According to media reports Chelsea are believed to have offered 11 million euros (US$12.46 million) for the 30-year-old Dutch international who will be out of contract next summer.

Chelsea's new owner, Russian oil tycoon Roman Abramovich, has promised to strengthen the squad with central midfield his main priority.

He took control of the London club last week after agreeing to buy out Chelsea for 86 million euros (US$97.5 million) and cover debts estimated at around 115 million euros (US$130 million).

Ambramovich has said he wants to build a Chelsea team that is capable of winning the Champions League in the next three years.

Yeah he's getting old but still he's energetic and very fast.And surely a great player at that position.

davids isnt dropping, he's probably playing some of the best football of his career at the moment. (not literally, the season's over ;) )

He is still in his peak years and was fantatsic last season. I tip him to move to either Man City or Chelsea when his contract finishes at Juve.


I'm suprised he never moved to Arsenal some years ago though because i read something about his move to the Gunners that was put off a few years ago, maybe it was because they wanted Vieira more. Oh well i look forward to seeing him here in England.

how about that guy , umm i think he plays for Madrid.....Zidane ??....Juve isnt desparate but they usually like to sell when they are able to get a good amount of money for the player....id actually say thats one of thier strengths...but what does a Roma fan know about Juve

Zidane wanted to leave Italy. He liked playing for Juve but his wife got sick of Italy.

And sure, if Chelsea offer some massive amount for Davids, maybe they will sell him. Im just saying getting money to pay debts is not a concern at the moment at Juventus. Juventus' aim is the CL this year, and Davids is worth keeping around for that. If he leaves for free, its not like Juventus will become a poor club all of the sudden. No offense but imagine if Totti left Roma on a free transfer. That would be a disaster for Roma.
