Katrina's Wrath

I didn't notice a thread, so i just wanted to put this up so people who weren't aware could hear about the horrible tragedy that has struck the city of New Orleans and its surrounding communities. Hurricane Katrina has absolutely demolished the city, and things have gotten so bad that the governor has ordered the evacuation of the entire city. Death count is feared to be in the thousands. To top it all off, a bunch of idiots decided it would be funny to loot, so now the city is underwater and being robbed. The survivors are being hailed to the Superdome, the arena where the Saints play, but things have gotten so out of control that trash fires have broken out, and at one point, a police helicopter has been shot at. The national guard has been called in, and the city is in utter chaos.

To further the damage, all oil production along the Gulf has been shut down. Thanks to that, gas prices have skyrocketed more then $.55 on average, and i believe that in Louissiana prices have jumped over $6 a gallon  That is unprecidented in the U.S. The scary thing is, things are going to get worse before they can get better. The city of N.O. is uninhabitable, and it would take officials close to a year before they could clean up the city of all the debris. Many are saying that this is one of, if not the worst natural disasters to hit the United States. Countless families have lost their lives, and some have been split up. New survivors have no food or water because of the situation in the Superdome, and there are so many it is hard to distribute them to surrounding communities. It is an extremely unfortunate situation.

Yea, $4 in some places here (Charlotte, NC). We usually have cheaper gas the the rest of the country by like 10 cents/gallon too.

Screwed up tho, and people are setting up fake donation websites to steal people credit card/bank account info. Bastards.

F*cking horrible. :nape:

Most of the times, when a hurricane hits, it's not on television 24/7 but Katrina did. All the local news stations have been broadcasting the wrath of Katrina.

plus they don't have power to pump out the water, the bridges that were connecting the city are messed up, the only way they can reach is by choppers, they dont have any food, and the water in some parts are over 20ft. :kader:

No thread about something happen in America is complete with some America-bashing.

All this happens and you think the worst thing that happens is a woman making a dumb comment? You must be a sad little man.

I'm really sad about all that happened... New Orleans is below sea level, so flood problems are going to be tough to handle... Looting and shooting only make it worse, though I understand the frustration I can't see what lead people to shoot a helicopter that is helping...

My best wishes are with the affected people

What! People tried to shoot down a helicopter?***ERS!!!!!Some people just wait fo rthese kind of things to happen just to take advantage of the people who are tryig to help. :kader: :kader: :kader:

gas has gone up about $.40 so far, so its like $3, but it should rise more. I heard that they are lowering feul standards so it costs less.

who actually pays the most for gas in the world?

TROD.
I think every country pays the same for oil, the prize rightnow is about $65.00 per barrel(except OPEC). The prize in NY is about $3.00 a gallon but the prize in European Countries is more than that of US.
