Na, I think the hipsters were the ones raving about it. He isn't a mainstream hero like Superman, Batman or Wolverine - so that adds to the hipster appeal. As does the fact it's done slightly satirical of other superhero movies. It all points towards hipster to me.

Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the most anticipated and successful films in the last few years and the comic probably had less of a following than Deadpool. Sure, LESS mainstream than an Ariana Grande song but certainly not alternative.

Absolutely no one said that, I have no idea what you're even replying to. Not as mainstream still denotes a degree of mainstreamism.

I'm replying to you saying "Nah" to my post suggesting that it attracted hipsters because it's not as mainstream as Batman, Superman et al.

I understand I wrote "isn't a mainstream" rather than "isn't as mainstream" - however as I said "like Batman, Superman", my statement is still correct. He isn't mainstream like those guys. He may be mainstream to a degree, but nowhere near those guys, and so not mainstream like those guys.

I'd also suggest that there is always a degree of mainstreamism. The least mainstream Marvel character is likely still more mainstream than some indie character in local newspaper in the Lake District.

Point is Deadpool isn't mainstream like the guys I mentioned. Whether he is mainstream or not depends on where you draw the imaginary line on the mainstream scale, and that's irrelevant.
