Maybe EA shouldn't spent money on advertising or marketing, perhaps it's better spent that money on a testing team to finish those bugs, and on a team work that really understand gameplay.
They've done a great job with NBA Live 04, why can't do the same on football???

hey pillow....ure right---and wrong...zlakta is right..u take it to seriously....but then.....comng to pillows points....a players over skill number improves wen the player improves more than litle...wen he really improves..not if his pace goes from 80 to 81....y dhus his over all skill improve with just an increase of 1 in pace....or do u want the overall skill in decimals for e.g 80.25???? another thing...u dont slect ure team according to condition...select it according to fatigue......cuz if ure player has fatigue 79 and even if his condition is 60......in the next game...he goonna get tired soon ...the dribbling (if ure talking abt freesstyle moves) is not THAAT baad....yes....u cant get past ure oppnent with a stepover every time....and u might feel more omfortable just passing the ball arnd and creating room...THATS WAT IS REALISTIC DUDE...u dont see edgar daavids taking the ball and runing at players all the time...u dont see figo runing at players all the time....yes..u do see cristiano ronaldo running on players al the time :P..but he's a show boat....i thing the dribbling shud have been made bt 10% easier and it wud be a gr8 game..and unlock that bulll**** thingy.....YOU dont like it....but many ppl think that it ccreatesa hallenge in the game..ud be bored with the game sooner if there were no challenges....and u CANT POSSIBLY make oliviera better than nedved...cuz a person doesnt improve THAT MUCH...and if u dint notice...players with ratings below 80 are the chaeapest to improve...wen a player gets to 80....u have to give 1000 and 1200 for 1st and second slot of indiv. training respectively.....ya...ther rest of the things u mentioned are actually..err...how do u like to say it "ABSURD"......

One problem... EA doesn't care...
Most of us in these forums are hardcore gamers/losers. We aren't the target market for this game. EA is a very large company beacuse they know how to SELL their product to everybody. So most of their effort is put into "window dressing", making the game look attractive at first glance.
So even if everbody in here protested I doubt it would have any effect.
And BTW, no offense Pillow, but isn't it a wee bit sad to be boycotting a video game??

why are u mourning so much? U know that u are goinig to buy FIFA games even if they get worse. It's in your blood. I mean "the football". Every time u buy it, complain of it, and hope it will get better next year.

yeah they will care when PES3 comes out for PC and 90% of PC football addicts change to PES3 instead of fifa, and u know it will happen cuz PES3 will over run fifa and its going to be easy as taking candy from a baby

I remember months ago before this game was released, I said that FIFA 2004 will be a letdown big-time. Many of the people complaining these days are the same people who flamed me all over for my sceptism. Now, look what I`ve told you all before, how can a company that focused on teeth improvement will be able to make a good footy simulation ? How can a company that makes players like Recoba, Vieri, Davids as right footers in-game ( for three freakin` years in a row ) knows anything about football ? Even in if they claim that this is an arcade version of football, it still sucks. Anyway, hopefully after years being fooled and ripped off, some of you guys learn that all EA cares is your money to make more improvement for their other EA Sports title. Football has always been their second priority.

C'mon, guys, I think Pillow was merely voicing/ranting what most of us were thinking or feeling inside....we know deep down he speaks the truth but we dont want to admit it....
everyone has a 'last straw' and I think this may be it...it only took 9 years of FIFA buying to reach that straw....I really did used to believe in FIFA but the amount of bugs and sloppiness - the sheer lack of effort and care (WTF is with them porting the game direct from console!!!???) put into 2004 is an absolute disgrace. Look through the ini files and you'll see that 99% of the code is ripped from 2003....only they made the AI even worse in this version...
I truly believe they tested the game for about a week before release and the people who tested it knew nothing about football. The Career mode is a farce - i play it and enjoy some aspects - even scored some great memorable goals - but it's a farce - i admit it. League standings/results are unrealistic - menu interface disgraceful - stats superfluous - lack of top scorers glaring - prestige points who give a flying? Different stats are unnoticable anyway so why bother trying to increase them? Many many more bugs, glitches and unfixable problems.
If PES had licensing - or if people can patch it to death to get kits and rosters then it will win every year. EA needs to wake up because yes they will lose a lot of money over this. Just how much did they spend on marketing?
BTW, did anyone else feel like they had been totally duped by those marketing/sales videos by EA with Danny and co. crapping on about all the "new features" and "revolutionary gameplay" etc et al.??????????
I could go on and on and on but really what's the point? The only way we'll make a difference is come Christmas 2005 putting our money where our mouth is. I think it's time for a change....

I agree fifa 2004 its a great product but also it missed several aspects that are EA first stones , if you check the EACANADA site you will know what i am talking about.
They are actually professionals, they supposed to be the best around ( ofcourse they wont hire X under rated programer ) plus they have AMAZING equipment and installations to develop games....... So what you can expect? a product without the "bugs" Pillowbiter talking about.
Also when you hire personal, you MUST know if they are PERFECTIONISTS or not , it doesnt matters if the guy comes from the best university, if he is a half made worker then your products will result half made.
This happens when "papers" make people "elite" when actually the paper really doesnt means crap!
So who you think EA will hire? :
A : A guy comming from a high class college that had excelent notes, honors and ****.
B : A guy that with luck graduated and his notes appear to be pathetic, but actually he LOVES quality and LOVES computer games, so he tries perfection.
If it were my choice, answer is : B

I have told A dudes : "Hey, why you dont try to add code so when the user try X movement the AI can react properly"
the A dude answer : "Nah, its not necessary because it probably it will never happen"
the B dude answer : "Yes, already did but removed the code because i wasnt happy with it, starting from scratch"

Hey everyone..!!This is my first time here been reading all this stuff for weeks now, and come to the conclusion , that we humans are never happy. These are only games, just think yourself lucky that EA or Konomi bother ever releasing anything with so many negative comments. I have both fifia 2004 & pes3 for both formats pc and ps2 , and can say that both have as many faults as each other, whats the point of getting angry about it ? just try and live with them , both are fun at the end of the day, just dont take it to serious. If you guys want realism, go join a local soccer team in your area. And before you start bagging me (like whatta bout money we pay) buy it through stores were you have a 7 day return policie, and if you dont like it take the thing back.
You right, and we accept EA work because you can remember the times of the Atari and intelevision , then compare them to actual games and its really amazing all the progress.
Even that its just funny how a supposed EXCELENT development group like EA Canada can miss some things that are escencials.
So talking about business, as legend_master said, its all about $$$$$$ and its sad , because there are words that come to my mind like PRIDE and SUCCESS , what is really success for EA? improve their marvelous building?
For me will be more like creating a game that i can really be proud of, some day will be nice to say to your kids " I got some money but I also created a game that even today cant be beaten"
But seems we are in the "Superficial Era" where everything looks good outside but inside its empty.
