I'm not even dreaming of Marseille winning it, hoping for somehow getting a CL place though. They signed Payet from Lille, a much needed addition. Also a promising left-back Benjamin Mendy from Le Havre. Also really close to signing Gilbert Imbula, a young midfielder who was the key player in Guingamp's return to Ligue 1. Arsenal was supposed to be interested in him as well. Newcastle is after Gignac and are willing to pay stupid ammount of money for him, by all means, take him. Plenty of better replacements on the market.

Lille has signed Simon Kjaer from Wolfsburg. Awesome move for them. They're probably gonna try to sign a few more players after the money from Digne transfer.

As for Lyon, I wouldn't surprise if they'd finish in mid-table. They'll still have a chance to repair the current situation but so far their transfer policiy seems awkward. Reveillere was let go on free and Lovern sold to Southampton. Both had an important role to play in their defence last year. Reveillere's spot will be filled by Miguel Lopes of Sporting Lisbon who'll join on a season long loan. Grenier, Gomis and Lisandro might be leaving aswell, Gomis' is almost certain to do so. Grenier extended his contract to 2016, mostly because the most he'll last at Lyon until january or summer, without the extention he would've been gone for peanuts.

Don't think you can compete with ****s who'll just buy the title but I'm pretty excited about Marseille and Lille. The battle for european spots will be mad.

BTW, can anyone remove the "2012/2013" from the thread title, so we could continue with the new season here?

First match of the season just ended. Montpellier 1 - 1 PSG. PSG were the better side but they coulnd't even clinch it after playing the last 20 minutes with one man up.

Tomorrow Monaco will start their season away at Bordeaux.

Four teams with 6 points: Lyon, Monaco, Marseille, ASSE. PSG on 12th spot after two draws against teams they should've beat. Then again, last season they started with 3 draws.

Payet, the top assist maker last season, joined Marseille from Lille. Has scored 3 goals in two games. Been a good link-up between him, Valbuena and Gignac.

Also, one of the best young prospects for France, Emmanuel Riviere has been great. Already 4 goals scored in two matches.

For Lyon, it seems Gourcuff has been standing out - two goals and two assists already. I'd also like to think that this seasons "aubameyang" will be Lyon's Lacazette. Three goals in two matches (that's how much he scored in total last season). Already nearing 100 apps for Lyon but he's just 22.

Can't really bring anyone out for ASSE. Two 1-0 wins, against Ajaccio and Guingamp, the very minimum that was expected by them.

So yeah, four teams leading the way after two rounds. PSG being dissapointing. Still I expect Marseille and Saint Ettienne to start losing points soon and dropping positions. Lyon fighting the longest, while in the second half of the season it will be all about PSG trying to get closer to Monaco.

How do you rate Grenier? From what I've seen so far he seems to be a star in the making.
Had a nice start to the season, including 2 assists in this last game.

He has great passing accuracy and vision, also a sweet long distance strike.

I've started following him after watching this amazing piece of skill:

Yeah, as I said few pages ago, I was a bit surprised Grenier wasn't chosen the "young player of the season". I don't think he'll leave until the next summer though. Lyon will want to reach a european place by any means and they've already done some stupide decisions in the market. Arsenal would want him. Amazing technique, good at set-pieces, can play anywhere in attack and most importantly - french! What is said to be the reason why he missed out the "young player of the season" title to Thauvin, was that he was a bit inconsistent in the start of the season last year, seeing him benched for few matches. Seems like the start for this season is a lot better, lol.

Oh and tits.
Arsenal did want Grenier. He probably wanted to come but then Wenger made a ridiculous bid of some 6/8 million. He signed a new contract at Lyon after that.

I really like Lacazate, btw. He is awkwardly underrated. His game is David Villa like.

They had to play behind closed stands. They originally had to pay some fines and start the season with -3 points, but after an appeal the FFF changed the punishment. Even without that, they have one of the lowest attendance numbers in Ligue 1 and 2.

Well, the few fans they have are the ones who caused them their troubles. Pitch invasion and beating the ref while doing it, lol. Some of their fans are against the new owners too and boycott the games.
