Ok, I'm sure many notice a slight stutter in the game, even with a powerful computer (as if its not running smooth). Well, that can be fixed and I have done so (I hope it works for you also, it should as I tested it with a couple different computers).

All edits have been done in the "cfg_pc_h.ini", "cgf_pc_m.ini", and "cgf_pc_l.ini" files found in
"C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA 07\data\cmn" or wherever you installed FIFA 07 to.

Here are the changes.

Changed RENDER_RATE_MODE from 7 to 2 (this makes the game run smoother when you make long passes or any time the camera moves to follow the ball, you'll love how much smoother it is).

EDIT: If anyone wants to understand why this is 2 instead of 7, I will explain this now. While using FRAPS, I noticed when "RENDER_RATE_MODE = 2", its as if it forced FIFA 07 to try and stay at a steady 60fps (very little change, 55-60fps). When "RENDER_RATE_MODE = 7", I noticed it bounce around all over the place, it wasnt doing a good job of keeping a steady framerate (anywhere from 45-85fps), hence why it seems jerky. Remember I am talking about gameplay and not the cutscenes (they seem to run lower not matter what setting).


High Spec PC version only.
Changed the entire LOD section of the file. Think of this like Juces' LODMixer for PES, only its been done for FIFA 07. The changes I made here will keep the players looking the same far away as they do close up. No more disappearing long hair, kit logos and numbers, fingers, etc.

Well, here is the files, have fun :) (Remember to make a backup of your original file before using mine incase the file doesnt work well for you).


EDIT: No longer just for High Spec PC's.
EDIT 2: Tried to fix penalty shootout crash problem by altering some of the LOD values (this is only for the one with edited LOD). Let me know if this version works better than the last and doesnt crash.
EDIT 3: Added high detail files with Full-Scene effects disabled to help cure the cutscene slowdown when using high deatil.

Great, but does it have a negative impact on the game in another area? Why wouldn't it be set to 2 originally?

No, unless it running smoother and responding quicker is negative in your opinion. Second question, because EA are fecking morons and don't know how to set the options for the PC version. Every year something has to be changed. Like how a couople years ago it was the "RENDER_AI_EVERY_FRAME = 1" and last year you had to make a file called "situation.ini" in the root folder and add the line "RENDER_RATE_MODE = 2".

Well thank you for this tweak. Yet, it is not working fine with my poor ATi 9600 --> it is getting even more stuttering with the new file, strange ...

But it doesn't matter because I can't notice much difference between Medium and High except blur effects.
By the way, how to change climatic conditions ? In kick off mode the only choice is sunny day or night ... Any idea ?

No, its only for HIGH graphical settings. This is why I said you might need a powerful PC. If I have time later today I will underclock my CPU and throw in a low spec GPU and see if I can give people who play in LOW or MED a similar file, but I doubt it would work in the same manner as I have set the LOD for people who have GPU's that can handle it.

For now, you could always just open the LOW or MED config files and change the "RENDER_RATE_MODE = x"(where x is the number) line from whatever low and MED are (I think they are set at 3 and 5) to 2 so it would read "RENDER_RATE_MODE = 2" without the quotes.

Try going back to your original file (remember this can be done in all three setting files, LOW, MED, or HIGH) and open it in notepad and only change the RENDER_RATE_MODE like I said above. I bet the LOD settings are what is slowing down your 9600.
I have not looked into the climate conditions............so I don't really have an answer to that. :)

yeah i too get cutscene problems any idea on a fix that works for everyone, as a few people suggested aa off, but mine already is off and that doesn't help.

any ideas?

im not sure if it is the games apalling graphics but i have 2 x 7900 gt sli graphics cards banging away very easily but game still looks awful? is there any way u can change the rate even lower to run at optimum?? , many thx.........i think the game looks bad no matter what cards tho, so probably just the game...
