 Well i dont think Betis is an easy side. In fact i think they have similar level than Liverpool. Though Betis lacks of international experience.

Unfortunatly it seems that Cisse's time is up at Anfield. After seeing Pongolle chosen infront of Cisse on Sunday, I don't hes got much more chance unfortunatly.

I don't think that's true. After seeing how well Pongolle played against Betis, it would have been foolish to leave him on the bench for another important game. However, as he failed to impress against Manchester, I would expect to see Cisse in again for the next game.

Just give Cisse a run of 10 games or so, and lets see how many he scores. And play 2 forwards for f*ck sake. We managed one goal against Sunderland in 4 games, and we are the European Champions. Surely we can do better than that, but if the team cant score, and you're only playing one forward, i mean, what the hell? Play one more, that's common sense...

And i still think we need that player, the so called number one in the midfield, that one AMC, an Aimar-esque type of guy, to create our chances. That responsability is on Gerrard's shoulders, but he has to defend and do all the playmaking by himself, and that's too much for him. He needs help. Garcia could be that type of player, but he's losing it somewhere. The amount of balls he lost and passes he missed against Man Utd was irritating. He's a starter for sure but not at that specific role. Maybe on the left, like he used to play at Barça, and he managed to score a good amount there.

isn't this why xabi alonso is on the team?

what i thinki is we dont really need new strikers. WE need our strikers to take more chances. I dislike seeing he likes of morientes try and play it safe and takes only 2-3 shots a game. A strikers speciality is striking!Finishing! yyou guys know. Anyway our defence looks rock solid, hope the two CB can last all season until we get a reinforcement, midfield.......so so... and yes our strikers :nape:
owell hopefully we shall thrash biringham on saturday.
theyve lost all their home games lol so my prediction is 3-1 to us, gerard, cisse, crouch and good ol heskey will score for city

Alsono's presence in the team should be the key to freeing up Gerrard to play as an attacking midfielder exclusively. If you already have Sissoko established in the holding role, then Alsono can lend him a hand, serve as chief distributor of the ball, and be the "engine" in the midfield. That would leave a guy such as Gerrard to get forward and not have to worry about running the midfield as its already well covered enough between those two. I guess that leaves the two wing spots to be filled by whoever that can bring a purely attacking game, but for that role someone like Aimar, as was mentioned, who can be an offensive lynchpin on their own would be an awesome compliment to Garcia on the other side. Of course, thats all contingent on the 4-5-1 being the favored system

However, I personally think Riise is good enough, even to move Luis Garcia to his less favored side.

i dunno what happened our strikers just can't score any goals in the EPL.... maybe they should really work on their finishing... some of cisse's misses was just so so...sooo..... schoolboy type of misses.... :nape: he has everything the pace just the finishing that let everyone down....

i reckon we should play djibril right mid for a few games, he was shít hot there before he got injured remember. with garcia inbehind crouch or moro. the domestic performances are very worrying!!

I mean a REAL attacking midfielder. Gerrard is a defensive midfielder with creativity, a great passer, but he's not a guy that will open up spaces everywhere using his skills and then deliver that great last pass to put someone on the clear. Neither is Alonso.

I would love to see a skilled player, with good dribbling, and a nice pass (some speed would help). Unfortunately that kind of player is lacking at the market at a reasonable price but well, there are alternatives. Like Malbranque, for example. Looks like a decent option in my opinion.

actually sorry to disagree but i think gerrard is one of the perfect substitutes. Have you relised most our penalties won this and last season are because of his burst of pace (wich isnt dat great ahaha) in the penalty area. but a player like malbranqe is very agreeable.
Although there is a player i had in mind that shouldnt cost that much because hes disappeared in the interest of others. I would prefer Simao but remember Maniche, how good would it be to get him...

Before he went to Russia, I was hoping Jose would lodge a quick bid to get Maniche. He wouldnt cost a ton, and he is just a quality all around player. Give it till the summer though, he might be sick of moscow by then....

god damn.. our strikers stinks like hell... we could have won today match with so many late chances... both crouch, cisse all missed clear cut chances... :nape: and birmingham's second goal...reina... :nape: warnock.... :boohoo:

well... today other results has really turn a bad weekend to a good one... with everton losing to wigan(hahahahaha....) and blackburn beating man u... (yipppeee) turn a smile to my face.... :jap:

Im not happy at all concending 2 goals to Birmingham city :nape: on a brighter note Man united lost and Everton lost (6) it was pleasing to see Cisse get on the scoresheet hopefully he will play 4-4-2 for our next Premiership game.
