The referee mistakenly booked Mascherano after a foul by Alonso. Mascherano will miss the next Champions League game(which will be a Quarter Final!). The ref will try and claim it was for kicking the ball away as Mascherano cleared following the tackle.

I hope we appeal. Masch is ABSOLUTELY VITAL. This yellow card MUST be rescinded.

ye, that's the big contentious officiating problem ... forget the rubbish penalty decision, and the tug on Pepe's shoulder by Torres leading to the first goal ...

This wont be an open game by any means. Expect us to have the ball alot and pass it among the midfied, back to defenders, waiting for gaps, while Liverpool set camp behind the ball.

But honestly, I couldnt blame you for playing like that. Advancing is all that will matter.

LOL! I know. I bet pool supporters were also surprised by the attack minded tactics Benitez pulled. Great move by Benitez. If pool let him go they're crazy.

Not to take away from Liverpool since they were brilliant but the first 2 goals shouldn't have been. Those goals totally beat us mentally. But that's football. Still, I think Liverpool were gonna advance. Congrats again.

Regardless Liverpool completely dominated and deserved to win and frankly should've scored more goals anyway. Real Madrid were just completely poor.

it wasn't a penalty in the 2nd goal, but I do think it was the correct decision for the first one. I don't think enough pressure was applied to make Pepe stumble. I'd understand it if the ref called a foul for that, though. The thing is, if it was at the attacking box, it wouldn't be a penalty.
