I thought Houllier's reign had incredible moments for Liverpool fans(especially for those who weren't able to witness their prior dominance in the Old First Division.)

For example, the treble winning season was a noteworthy achievement.

Yes, a cup treble back in 2000, but after that we saw the successions of mistakes and the amount of deadwood he left.

I'll be 'really happy' if he stayed at Anfield.

I don't see why we need to panic because of a bad season. We've had bad seasons for the past 2 decades. Our top priority is 4th place.....it's been that way for the past 5 odd seasons. Nothing's changed...yet the media keeps making a big deal out of it....I don't get it. They're trying to sell instability......and it's unnecessary.

Not having a go at yer, but Chelsea's better than average squad beat Liverpool to the 4th Champions League spot before Roman took over.

I think you meant to say "edged"........it came down to the last game of the season. The gap between the 2 clubs wasn't large. You lucked your way to titles......sorry but if West Ham had finished 4th that season, THEY would have hit the Carlos*pot. Without Roman your top flight title drought wouldn't have ended and your squad(depth) wouldn't be as good as it is right now.

Out of the UCL, FA Cup and League cup prematurely and struggling to reach the top 4. Must be your worst season since the last 10 years.

Taking the summer exits into account the priority, coming into the season, was the team's performance in the EPL. The last time I checked we're competing for a top 4 finish.

The major outs were Alonso and Arbeloa and both got replaced by expensive signings in Johnson and Aquilani. That's not really an excuse. United and Arsenal have a better case for their outs being more important.

There is some truth in that. However both Johnson and Aquilani have missed numerous games through injury and in Aquilani's case a refusal from Rafa to play him, leaving players like Lucas (average) and Degen (absolute sh*t) having to play. It really exposes our lack of squad depth. Also i think Alonso was more important to Liverpool then most people realised at the time. I personally believe that he was more important to Liverpool's structure then Ronaldo was to Man U. Ronaldo was a goal scorer - and United another very talented one in Rooney. Plus they have players like Berbatov, Giggs, Owen, Valencia etc who can all chip in. Alonso has not been replaced adequately. He pulled the strings from midfield, dictated play, and was able to play a killer pass. Probably the best passer in the league last year. Without him Liverpool have suffered especially as Lucas has nowhere near his talent. Rafa's worst decision during his time was Alonso's sale.

Rafa has denied signing a contract with Juventus.

If Rafa leaves, we should target Martin O'Neill. Guus Hiddink should only be an option if he is willing to join full time. I'll tell you one guy who's pulling for Hiddink---->Ryan Babel.

You're a climbing a table like a turtle.

I still think if Rafa does well in euro league and secure that 4th place, he can be at anfield for another year.

The best guy for the job would actually be David Moyes. He's done the best job with the least amount of money available.

I don't see why O'Neill would leave a club he's worked so much at to assemble a squad even better than Pool's, with a better owner and supposedly more money available, to go a club that clearly has problems at all levels.

I would prefer that Rafa stay....he's living off of 2005 and 2006 and I've got no problem with him continuing on for the remainder of his contract. The moment he leaves is when Torres starts crying like a baby and puts in a transfer request.

Now, David Moyes???? He wouldn't do that.

If we miss out on 4th place, I'm hoping that Spurs or City are the team to secure that spot.....that might give more impetus to Martin O'Neill to move on.

As far as the problems on all levels, well last year, George Gillett agreed to sell his 80% stake in the his NHL ice hockey club - the Montreal Canadiens, to help ease some of that financial pressure on Liverpool. On Jan 24, 2010, Tom Hicks agreed to sell controlling interest in his baseball club - the Texas Rangers....presumably he had the same motives for this course of action.

And the reason that Tom Hicks Jr resigned as a director of the club was NOT financial - it was due to a row with a supporter claiming he received abusive emails from the American.

The debt you say. Well, a lot of major organizations have debt. You just have to manage it. That's what we've been doing......it will reduce with time....it can't and won't happen overnight. And it's really the supporters' groups and media who make a big deal out of nothing.

...The club's managing director, Christian Purslow, has revealed there are a number of interested parties keen on investing in Liverpool and that the club need a cash injection or they will be forced to remain at Anfield.

"When I arrived we agreed with the owners that we had to look for new investors," Purslow told Spanish newspaper AS.

"There are interested parties and I would like to get it sorted out before the end of this season. Without investment there won't be a new stadium."

But if they do not find new investment Liverpool will look to try to compete with their rivals by remaining at Anfield.

He added: "That's plan B: run the club in the most responsible way possible.

"We are generating a healthy profit and meeting our obligations, while remaining competitive in the transfer market and with the wages we are paying."

Always good to hear.

What about the positive buys you say. I give you Dirk Kuyt. He has adapted to the physical style of the Premier League and is a vital part of Rafa's plans.

He scored the only goal against Manager of the Month(January) David Moyes' Everton.

Lvierpool 1-0 Everton

I would like to echo Rafa's message(to the team):

We can fight until end of season - Benitez

Kibe Kru

Starting XI
we can fight, and I have no doubt we will. the fact that it may not be enough, given the fact that city still have games in hand is just sad.

^%^^^We need to maximize our points by wining the games we're supposed to win. We can't be looking past the next game much less the last game of the season, which is the only time when OTHER teams' results(games in hand at various points in the season, form, etc. etc.) will matter.
