Liverpool - Inter [R]

absolute f*cking bullsh!t refereeing ... materazzi just been sent off for 2 yellows, both of which were extremely harsh as independent yellows, are unbelievably unjust as a red ... f*ckin disgrace ... hope all anti-interistas who complain about referee favoritism for inter are watching this game ... hope inter win with 10 ....

Team Captain
even with 11 men Inter were being pressed into their own half... now with 10, barring a counter-attack goal, Inter are not going to win. if Pool weren't so ******* **** in the final 3rd, they'd probably already be up 1 or 2 goals with all the possession they have

if matches were won because teams had the lions share of possession and kept the opposition in their own half, FC Barcelona would pretty much have a 100% record in all competitions ...

Vieira's could've easily been called, but he was sort of protecting his face I guess... some refs would, some wouldn't, simple as that.

MEANWHILE, Kuyt finally broke the deadlock, deflected off Maicon and fooled Julio Cesar. then Gerrard with an absolute ARROW low far post, what a deadly accurate shot that was. 2-0 going into the 2nd leg? not looking good for Inter.

Ref ruined the game. Yes Liverpool looked better even with 11vs11 BUT that gave Inter no chance to counter. Its only haf time but goddamn allready some horrific reffing going on.

Good performance

Liverpool looked good tonight be it against 11 or 10 men. Yes the red crd was harsh, can just about understand the second yellow but the first was a nothing foul, wasn't as if Torres was going anywhere

Gerrard's shot was something only place where a defender or goalie wasn't going to get it.

Inter were really screwed up. :(

Both Milans will be going out so nothing to be ashamed of Inter Milan. What you guys fail to realize is the premiership is far far stronger than serie a. When Arsenal went to Anfield Liverpool could not even get the ball of us and sat with 10 men in their penalty area for the last 20 minutes.

It is not a science just fact.

i can agree here.
This tie just showed how big the gap between EPL and the Serie A is.
No offense, but a team that hadn't lost 28 games or so - until that one- lost to a team that was being bashed all over the place week in week out in England. And this is not about experience in the given tournament, because Inter have at least 15 great world class players, whilst imo Liverpool don't really have 11 eqaully good players. However (!!) Liverpool do make a squad out of them, play bravely and wisely, whilst Inter pull out 6 defenders, 1 defensive midfielder, 1 central midfielder and 2 strikers in the starting eleven.
And they don'y achieve anything with that.
Inter barely had a real attempt on goal. And you're calling this a champions league contender?
Liverpool just played the whole game, while Inter only participated in it. And the red card is a lame excuse, since even with 10 men Inter should do at least 1 attack per game. They had their first corner in the 68th minute for Christ sake.

Steve G goal was brilliant. He really deserves to be a captain of the Lions instead of Terry imo.

what are you trying to prove? that because the arse were superior to 'pool at anfield, and since 'pool beat ten-man inter at anfield, the arse are way better than inter in general?

ok, so, by similar logic: boro beat the arse at the riverside, but the hammers beat boro at the riverside, so the hammers are better than arsenal in general?

the answer is clearly 'no' (on both counts) ...

The ref ruined the match with that "sending-off." Inter were starting to get some more possession and were creating more then all of a sudden they lost a man.

Unless Inter score early in the return leg I don't see how they can turn around this result.

Champions League

Will admit the referee was wrong to send matarazzi off, the first yellow was especially harsh, but at the same time I would say we should have got a penalty for Viera's handball. Don't see it as protecting his face as the ball wasn't exactly a powerful shot, and he should have had no problem in heading the ball.

Inter though never looked like a team that were going to score, and the Liverpool defence had no trouble in keeping a clean sheet even before the red card. Should make the return leg more interesting though, but if they attack I can't see them keeping a clean sheet with Torres' pace a serious factor
