I don't understand what you are trying to say? If we signed a real midfielder who was younger, then Pogba definitely would have never got the chance. All he had to do was wait 6 months.

He thought he was the hottest shit around but didn't want to listen to authority. That doesn't work for Ferguson.

The issue wasn't the competition, the issue was he wasn't even given the chance over some washed up retired player, which is infinitely more offensive than signing one. He had no problem with authority he had a problem being treated like crap

That particular season, he wasn't as good as the following one. That's what you don't understand. His time was to come but it wasn't that season.

Did you watch one of his 7 games that season?! If you haven't, then you can't make an argument that he should have been picked over Scholes.

Young players aren't all about the current season, sometimes you have to safeguard your future or you finish 7th

Well, if they sold Rooney for like 60M then I'd do it if I was them.

Yeah they'd struggle to get 60m now. I am liking this situation because it means Rooney NEEDS a big world cup to exert himself (either to show he deserves a key place at united or to attract rich clubs to bid for him) and that can only help England.

really wanted the deal to fall through somehow ... but now that you're getting him, I'm fascinated to see what van Gaal can do in the Premier League ... for the first time in my life, Man Utd actually have a chance of playing good football ...

but Pogba is "the hottest shit around" ... I enjoyed hearing van Gaal talk about how he'd have loved to pick Pogba for the Dutch national team if he could ...

Who is Frans Hoek and Marcel Bout? Are they any good, ShiftyPowers?
Hoek is van Gaal's goalkeeping coach since back in the Ajax days ... can't give him more praise than that ... no idea about the other fella ...

Rooney is gonna throw a hissy fit at some point since RvP is gonna be the main man now.
all Wazza has to do is profess his undying love of Jari Litmanen in front of van Gaal, and plead to be moulded to play a similar role ... plus there's a whole World Cup between now and then, and bust-ups in the Dutch camp are not uncommon ...

Again, that "washed up" player was as good as any midfielder in the country and had as much of an influence on the title as RvP had. Whereas Pogba didn't show any signs that he was ready to carry the United midfield just yet.

Instead of working hard, learning the trade and fighting for his place he decided to bail to Italy. I'm not saying it was a bad move for him, it turned out to be a perfect decision for his career, but that is looking at things in hindsight. At that moment when he was getting signed by Juventus, he was a very talented but highly self-hyped player that didn't demonstrate much yet on the pitch.

16 games, half of those from the bench, a single goal and assist, and that's as much influence as 26 goals and 8 assists? Yeah that emoji is the right reaction.

Pogba is much better defensively than Scholes ever was

That's what you don't understand. You are assuming that 2 years ago, he was as good as he is now. You didn't watch any of the 7 games he played that season. You've only watched him play for Juventus and you're assuming he was that good since he was 15 years old.

You're also assuming he wouldnt be as good or even better if given the chance you gave someone nearly 40 years old, pogba won a junior world cup golden ball playing as a holding midfielder . scholes at best wasn't a liability defensively without Keane or someone to do his dirty work

and a group stage knockout with 0 goals for Rooney spells what for his career?

Van Gaal not really wanting him but unable to sell him because no-one is willing to match his wages and Rooney wont take a pay cut, therefore VG is forced to play him out of position, Rooney plays like shit and acts like a dick in the dressing room, atmosphere at Old Trafford goes sour, Rio Ferdinand tweets how LvG failed to "win the dressing room", bad times for United.
