btw, just read that Man Utd actually paid the buyout clauses for both players.

so basically Porto and Sporting had absolutely no say.

Not exactly, Nani's buyout clause was 20 million euros, not 25,5.

But on whole its a good thing.. With no offence to any one, But Serie A, The Spanish Liga and EPL are better leagues than the portuges Liga. I reapeat, its my opinion and I dont want to offend anyone, but it seems that in those three leagues there is a higher level of football... You must however recognise that Nani is portugese himself, and, all the skill he develops will be expressed for your country when in need. Exporting football players to better leagues is always a good thing imo.

Yes, it's good for the players. But what about the portuguese fans...?

We know that the portuguese league is not one of the greatest on Europe (Portuguese league can be compared with Jupiler League(?) of Belgium, Eredivisie of Netherlands or the Scottish one) but we want the best to our teams. I don't think FC Porto will suffer with the loss of Anderson (as my father, a Porto fan, says "We didn't needed him in almost the whole season"). Sporting will miss Nani, i'm shore of that...

haha. what the hell man.

IMO, its a good publicity stunt by Man Utd signing everyone in the space of 24 hours.

But now you United fans have an empty summer to look forward to. :D

Someone from a Liverpool forum said that he spoke with some of Sportings fans, and he said that the fans won't miss Nani as he "played on his own". I doubt this is really the case with the Sporting fans though?

But the transfer may not benifit the league, but it will benifit the national team. Look at what Sir Alex has done with Ronaldo - he's a worldclass player. I'm sure he'll do the same to Nani.

you're really wrong there mate.. ok portuguese league is no Serie A or La Liga but it is seriously above of Eredivisie and Jupiler league, or even Ligue 1 in my opinion.. definitely worth to watch..

This whole thing is really bad...
Portugal is becoming a supermarket for top clubs who want some bargains...
:(

I don't think that teams selling 19, 20 year olds for 25 million euro should complain at all. That is a lot of money, which will most likely be spent on improving the youth system (which is great for the country and its kids) or it will buy another rising brazilian star for a cheaper price. Either way, teams always improve from that much money. I think for the league to improve, you need every team to become better and better, otherwise you get somebody like Lyon who dominates the french league, but because of inexperience of hard opponents, can't do anything in the CL. So, you end up having 1 really strong team and a boring title race, which ends in December every single year.

Well thats business. I'm not complaning. With academies in portugal at an all time high business will be rife if the talent is coming through. Portugal needs money to improve their league.

Nuno

Starting XI
If Nani can earn a starting role at United, Portugal will benefit greatly. Not only will Nani improve his game but he will build a connection with Ronaldo. Sweet!!!
