Manager Mode help!

I've started Manager mode with Chelsea. I've won the Community Shield, and now started the season. Won a few matches with Visual Sim managing the team etc, even though I win, after every match, I'm losing money. My sponsor is auturo or something like that, they pay the highest, I've got my ticket price on highest, still no income.

Also, if i win matches with quick sim/ visual sim, on my profiles page in the main menu, they don't show the goals, matches won and the stats won't show up. Do I have to play the matches manually and save my profile for them to show up there?

Thanx for the help

The money is just something you need to sort out i.e. loan players out or sell them to save money.

The stats only work if you actually play the matches and remember to save your profile regularly.

Will goals/win streak count on exhibition mode as well?

Lol. I'm having some problems financially as well. I invested in my stadium and sold a good amount of players. It's nice that you don't need a minimum of 16 (or was it 18) players like in Fifa 06.

Ha. Yes, I have had monetary probelms in previous FIFA incantations, but for 08 I have done exceptionally well.

I am in my 5th season with Bradford City, starting in League 2 and have built my budget up to 7 million pounds. I don't have a player worth more than 800,000 pounds, and my highest salary is around 3000 pounds a week. My total team salary per week though
is like 32K (with 28 players). I am very careful meticulous about the players I sign, ones that are good, but don't ask for high salaries. I also found some young gems as well, and in a few cases the players I sign turn out to be even better than my scout said. I am in League 1 now with an eye on the championship for next season (sadly in season 4, I lost in the playoffs).

Sounds good. But how do you know which players are "ambitious" and want a salary higher than they deserve?

Well, right off, any player who is a free agent will ask for a much higher salary. So I never sign them. I have found some really good players in foreign (non euro) leagues. generally the salaries are cosiderably lower. I look for young players. As an example,
in my 1st or 2nd season, I signed a LB from Kaizer Chiefs who plays 10 points higher at LM! So he is currently 22 and plays as a 77 at LM.

Thanks for the advice. Look for foreign talent, hunh? This is pretty off-topic, but would you say that Fifa 08 is the best footie game you've played?

Well, EA is essentially the only footie game I have played, but this is certainly the best version thus far (and I have played every one that has come out way back to.. what was it, 1996???)

Cool.

About Manager Mode:

It's just terrific this year. We finally get to use real currency, not that that was an urgent need, but still it's a nice advancement in realism. News articles appear anytime you trash a rival team, and they actually tell the score correctly. The possibility of gaining XP points to improve player ability is fantastic. The issue about the Summer Transfer window was fixed, and you can even schedule friendly matches. Board interaction has also been improved. You are given the goals that you should look to achieve with the club such as finishing mid-table and renewing a key player's contract. All in all, the Manager Mode has done many things right this year and will please many fans, who still enjoyed the "Career Mode" in Fifa 2004 when it was so incomplete.

But there are some things that can still improve like random news conferences. I was asked once what explained my low position on the standings when the season had not started yet. Also non-competitive goals should not be included on the Leader Board.

It's looks like I've just turned this thread into "How to Improve the Manager Mode" thread.

southparkfan, I don't think it's a good idea to keep ticket prices high, as I've had lower revenues with fans not willing to pay the extra money. So most of the time you are better off setting prices at medium, but in cup matches against better teams or against a rival, the fans are more willing to pay the extra cash because of the importance of the match.

The financial prediction screen will tell you whether you will make more money from medium ticket prices than from high, but generally once your fan support gets into the high 80s you will be able to set prices to High with impunity (unless you get on a long losing streak, but then your fan support will drop again)
