I'm personally quite happy with him, he'll be good for at least a couple more years i reckon. With the strikers we've got now, we can use them sparingly (and hopefully effectively) with RVP adding a bit of experience potency when Rooney's not in the side.

For me that's one of the main reasons Fergie wanted RVP. When Rooney's not there, we lack a lot of experience and drive up front.

Holy crap can't believe we signed him. I am delighted that he signed but he's more of a luxury buy than a necessity. How are we gonna play with Rooney, Kagawa and RVP at the same time? One of these 3 will have to be benched and I have a feeling it will be Kagawa.

Kagawa played as a CM in his last game and he impressed. But you're not gonna get the best out of him in this position. He only scored that goal when he switched back to AMF.

The only ways to play with Rooney, Kagawa and RVP in the same game are:

Or:

RVP has played as LW in the past hasn't he? I think I prefer this formation.

I'm more baffled as to WHY we got Van Persie.
Unless SIr Alex is planning to move Rooney into the midfield,
this signing is unnecessary. We still have Welbeck & Chicharito in the forward positions.
Ok for depth, but the midfield could use some help.

Help?

We haven't had 2 pure game winners since Ronaldo left and RvP is that guy. Rooney is injuried half the season anyway, don't worry how we will fit them all in, I can't remember a season when we had an abundance of attackers.

Oh wait, we did in 08...

I'd actually be somewhat pissed if I was a Manu fan. Spending 24£ million on a 29-year-old, injury ridden striker, when you've got plenty of striking power on the bench, and just ignoring the trouble in CM. Seems like something a novice manager of a newly rich team would do.

Still, it's Robin van Persie. It's clear Ferguson doesn't want Berba anymore, and both Welbeck and Chicharito are perhaps too young for him to really take what he wants from them in his last management years. So it's not a bad purchase by any means, but yeah perhaps he should really look for a defensive midfielder before opening the check-book for a striker. But like I said, it's van Persie!

I have no idea what's going on Fergie's mind TBH. We are now at a point where Berbatov (EPL top scorer 2011) is now 5th choice. Maybe he's hoping that it will be a breakthrough season for Cleverley for the CM role. Cleverley has really impressed so far: for Team GB, preseason games and yesterday for England (his debut). If he can maintain this form and stay fit, he will make a great partnership with Kagawa (hopefully). I still think we need another CM but Carrick has been in great form and Fletcher might be back soon. We also bought youngster Powell.

Kagawa and Cleverly? Yaya is going to rape them on the pitch, and he might rape them in the ass too just because they couldn't stop him.

We will most probably play 4-3-3 against the better teams. So, Rooney or Van Persie will have to be dropped.

Our priority on the market now should be to find a new, good, club for Berbatov, the club owes it to him.

I usually hate when people go on forums saying "Fergie knows better, shut your mouth!" but I think this is the first time I will actually shut it, as I have no idea what he's thinking but I hope he still stands on the genius side of the genius/nutter border...

Nah, not necessarily, both have spent time on the wing in their careers. Rooney has spent a lot of time in the midfield the last couple years too.

Well, you're not gonna get the best out of either player on the wing. We also spent a lot of money on wingers. If we play Rooney in midfield, where will Kagawa fit in?!
