So it's okay for ManU to "throw a ton of money" at a team, but it's unfair when Madrid do it?

You have some work class strikers, stop your bitching.

What the hell are you talking about? Who said it was 'unfair' of Madrid to do that? I certainly didn't.

Also, don't be mad at Madrid for trying to make their team better. Nobody was holding a gun to United's head forcing them to sell Ronaldo and nobody was forcing Milan to sell Kaka.

There is a simple way to stop that crap, do what Bayern did with Ribery and just say NO WE ARE NOT SELLING HIM.

we did lose to chelsea last season away....but still end up with the title...
still long way to go n have faith...

We didn't win against you guys last season at home. As a matter fact we were horrible against the top teams under Scolari, which contributed to our downfall from the title race.

Well I am Surprised 1-0. Only Got a chance to watch the first half then went off to the fireworks show at Weston Park. Listened to the second half in the car on the way. Sounded like Anderson, fletcher and Rooney were very good. I thought we may even win it at one point.

Then the commentators stopped talking about the game and moaning about Drogba. Lost track of what was happening then, they really were giving it him, was he really that bad? Then out of no where a goal from them.

O well, we did good. I thought it was going to be a thrashing the way we have been playing and the way Chelsea have. I guess that's a good thing, that even with out two of our most influential players of the last 3 seasons we can still hold our own.

Would of been interesting to see if Rooney played on the left and Owen or Berb alone upfront. There the goal poachers that might have made a difference.

Anderson and Fletcher combos turning into a force. Will be interesting when Hargreaves gets back.

highlights for anyone interested http://www.footytube.com/video/chelsea-manchester-united-nov08-27206

forgot to mention... VDS was exceptional, saved us a few times, yet again.

Its a shame rooney's run at the start was given offside, and then that tackle on Valencia. Another day that may have been 2-0 up. After seeing second half highlights I see why the commentators were ranting about Rooney. I'm gutted we didn't win now. We really looked good.

What the Hell was Drogba doing at 7mins 20sec on those highlights lol!! I see why the commentators wouldn't shut up about him now. Kinda ruined the listening though.

*Edit* I take that back, I just saw the boot go in, still with the dramatics though, he really shouldn't cry wolf. You automatically assume he's cheating. That was classic though, "Not a lot of sympathy from Nemanja Vidić" As the camera zooms on him laughing lol. My god he acting like he's been shot in the chest. He would be brilliant in a Vietnam war movie, meeeediiiicc!!! :D

*edit* ba that was frustrating to watch even the highlights. So much effort in at the end to score. I think they should have brought Owen on sooner, there again I guess its about keeping him fit.

I'm beyond gutted. Every single player in red won his individual battle yesterday, Evans and Brown were superb in defence, Evra was practically on the left wing and Valencia pinned Cole in his own half. Anderson, Fletch and Carrick performed the best I've seen them since last season, and Rooney was running everywhere.

And to have it taken away on yet another dodgy refereeing decision (or decisions - a blatant penalty from the England Captain in the first half) And I can see why Fergie says the boys are loosing faith in the officials. Perhaps Sir Alex's comments have sparked a backlash from referees, because we certainly don't seem to get anything.

But in anycase, however much we were robbed, we have to get on. I would also like to say that if United don't win the title then I'd prefer Arsenal to do it as at least they play football. Chelsea's cheating and gamesmanship was terrible. From Terry's rugby tackle on Valencia, to Cole's theatrical dive over Fletcher's foot.

Still there's a long way to go, and even if we didn't gain a point - I think the eleven in red out there certainly made one. We can compete with the other "big four". Hopefully now this injustice will forge a winning mentality, and United can launch on the run we know they can.

Chelsea themselves will have to come to Old Trafford, and they know now that we can batter them.

It's just a shame that after the best performance of the season, we are once again talking about the referee.

I only saw the second half, but when you talk about Evans and a blatant penalty, I have to bring this up. Evans had a horrible foul on Drogba inside the box, kicking him in the chest when they jumped for a header. The ref gave a yellow card to Drogba...

In what universe does that sort of foul earn a penalty? It was a tough challenge, but they were leaning into each other and collapsed, both of them too easily. If it was outside the box it probably would've been given.

I've seen Vidic and Brown out-muscle players countless of times with similar if not, even worse shoulder to shoulder barges. So I have no idea what you're on about with that one.

Just saw the MOTD highlights. From what I have seen and read the two teams were even. Fletcher's foul was a bit harsh to be given and the goal itself shouldn't have been allowed, even though Drogba didn't touch the ball, he made an effort of it in an offside position. But in all honesty I don't think Terry's challenge on Valencia was a penalty. They both went for the ball and slipped. A draw would have been fair as I feel Chelsea got more then deserved, but no worries, we were in a similar situation last season when Pool managed to get on top of the league. As always we perform better from January going.....Chelsea is playing well atm, but I don't feel that they are a tough nut to crack compared to Mourinho's Chelsea....add a little bit of spice in the mix during games and they are in trouble just as we saw against Villa and Wigan....I'm more worried about l'Arse

That Evans challenge on Drogba didn't seem intentional IMO. they both went for the ball and Evan's boots end up on Drogba's chest in the process. It was a foul though but definitely not a red card as the Chelsea fans are claiming.

I couldn't watch the game since I was off to Toronto during the weekend. Just watched the highlights though. Some controversial decisions... but I'm happy we played well even though we had many players out missing. Everton is next now. Glory glory Man United!

I have a strong suspicion this will be the turning point for us, United are so much better when Sir Alex convinces them there's a cause to fight for - and now given the injustices of recent games I think Fergie will have the perfect way to give them a "seige mentallity"

I think we'll see a great team togetherness and passion from now on. Bring on the Toffees.

We didn't really buy Owen, he was a free transfer so it's not like we went out and decided to invest money and time into him.

You still got a striker. It'd be redundant to get another one. Fergie considered whether to get Owen for free or pay a lot for another striker, he went with Owen and you should give him more time to prove himself before you say you should've gotten someone else/another striker.

Also, Evans' unintentional?

At 0.18 you can clearly see he deliberately kicks him in the chest.

He sold it like a WWE wrestler, he looked like he was having a fit.

Just admit it was a wrong call, no need to say anything like that. You have any idea how much that can hurt? He's lucky he didn't break any ribs.

Yea, and btw, I'm not a Chelsea fan, and I hate Drogba.

Doesn't justify Evans' high boot to the chest. Intentionally or not if it was someone with less physical build than Drogba, that could've potentially end up disastrous.

If Drogba received a yellow for simulation, then Evans should've been off. In hindsight, at least thats what I think.

Evans was jumping for a ball, his foot collided with Drogba's chest, I'm sure it hurt but the way he sold it was ridiculous. It certainly didn't warrant a red card. That was the only thing the referee got right.

Sorry you cant condone what Drogba does week in week out to a one off evans did. He shouldn't of done it and he wont do it again. Drogba on the other hand and others like him should be punished with a yellow card every time.

And you cant say its an over reaction, drogba does it that often, commentators and players were laughing at him. His own teams mate initially walked off before they realised he was actually "down". Made himself a victim of his own stupidity. The sad thing is... unlike others will he learn his lesson, I think not.

that could've potentially end up disastrous.

Don't be so mellow dramatic... your 'pulling a drogba'. The worst a kick to the solar plex would do is wind him. That poxy back flick would have done little more then scratch or bruise him. Hit him right on the pectoralis major too, That huge muscle in your pec. Very hard to cause damage there.

Not that I condone that. just pointing out the over reaction.

Drogba has cut back on his theatrics a lot since Guus, but everyone is still stuck with that image of him. He doesn't do it every week, he did before, but he doesn't now. You can't keep judging a player for a tendency he's leaving behind. He still does it from time to time, but if he didn't have that mantra surrounding him, you wouldn't make a big deal out of it.

And I can't believe, with video proof in this very thread, that anyone can say Evans didn't kick him intentionally, or that it wasn't a foul. And considering that it's clearly intetnional, it's a straight red. All the neutrals are saying the same thing. I get backing your players, but you're being ridiculous.

You can't even say he somehow heads and kicks at the same time because he started kicking after his head started moving. He jumped, saw Drogba, and kicked him. It was a quick, short movement but it's there, clear as day.

Here's the video again, in case you missed it:
