Its rather subjective but I'm sure that any neutral fans would agree that Evra is better. Evra is better defensively definitely. Cole makes more mistakes. On the offensive, Evra makes better runs and has the speed but Cole's crosses are better. Overall Evra is better. Ashley Cole's a great fullback anyhow.

Actually, I'd say it was the exact opposite. I think Evra is better attacking, aided by his speed. Cole makes the odd mistake, like any defender, I wouldn't say more than Evra.

Did Evra play in the CL final? I can't remember if he was suspended or not.

I don't even know where to begin, kp.

yes, evra played in the final, and messi was very quite in the final, the stars for barca that night were iniesta and xabi. i think messi even started to drift more into the middle and left to avoid evra altogether.

He played the whole match in the middle and left, but because that was the tactic, not because he was afraid of Evra. Messi played more of a number ten position.

Better, much better. I still felt we could have killed Everton off quicker though. Fletcher is becoming immense, that was the best goal he has ever scored. Evra is improving with each game and definately is the best LB in the world (to anyone with eyes not blinded by blue) on current form.

Gabby Obertan injected more pace into the attack, and with Tosic, and the imminent arrival of Laljic - Nani could well have signed his marching papers. Michael Carrick looked better, and took his goal well and overall United played as a unit. Not our best, but recent evidence suggests we're going the right way. I'm curious to see the lineup for the Champions League.

Obertan needs to learn a lot before he gets into the first team. Nani looks far more effective. Obertan's movement off the ball is terrible, he gets in the player's way a lot of the time or doesn't move into space. His pace with the ball is still slow, as defenders catch-up to him easily. His dribbling leads to a back pass to Evra 85% of the time, after which Evra takes the ball and dribbles past defenders himself. He is still pretty weak for the premier league. And he doesn't chase after the players when he should 90% of the time, instead just jogs around the wing, until he gets a through ball or a pass and then tries to do something if there is space. Obertan still has miles and miles to learn before he can become a regular first team player.

I know he only had limited time in the first team, but he has got to start doing such simple things as hussling the ball when he is closest to it. Compare that to Valencia who constantly tracks back to help the defense, just like Ronaldo used to in his first 2 seasons. He is not playing the full 90 minutes of the game afterall, you can't be thinking about preserving your energy coming into the game at the 75th minute.

Ferguson said: “I will be making changes (against Besiktas). Not a lot, but enough just to freshen it up. It’s a problem keeping players happy, but everyone has that when you have a squad of players.

“We use the League Cup for that and, if we can qualify early enough in the (Champions League) group, we can then use the likes of Welbeck. He will definitely play (against Besiktas) and Macheda too probably. They are the ones that need to be challenged.

“They’ve reached a point, and it happens in football, when a footballer has the ability to be a top player and you recognise that. You have to give them the challenge. If you don’t, they lose the scent.

“But this club has been good at recognising that over the years.

“It’s unfortunate for players above them, but when the likes of Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes came through, we thought they were certainties, but we had to give them a chance. And we did.

“That’s the nature of football. A young player turns the corner and takes someone’s job.”

youth getting a run out... will be interesting. Hopefully one of them will score.

Wow wow, training pictures today... few defenders, Two Owens!

Guess its getting closer to his return. I wonder how many weeks now? 3?

and damn lol, why is he tackling like that... and around Michael 'Glass' Owen! Those private tackling coaches for Paul must be paying off. :D

I am guessing at least 1 month. He`s been out for 14 months. I don`t expect him to be back that soon. Rehab takes time.

Our reserves played today with Tosic scoring a brace. I honestly think Tosic should be given more chance to play in the first team rather than Obertan. We didn`t pay 7 millions on Tosic to play him in the reserves did we? Obertan clearly lacks composure and experience right now.

Wasteful and below par performance from most of the lads. Should have upped the tempo from the start....well we ain't Liverpool though :innocent_smile_1:....Good performance from Obertan

After their goal Besiktas defended with all the players. It was impossible to penetrate their penalty box. We dominated in the end and I think we played quite well considering that most of our lineup are youngsters. Had the first team played we would`ve seen a completely different picture.
