im kinda liking carrick as a CB, the other teams give him a massive amount of time to pick his passes, he had some killer long ball passes today. but in reality he hasnt come up against a world class striker so in that regard he is untested.

Considering the problems we are having atm, we are doing well. The loss against Villa was very unlucky. If we had played at another stage with a few players more fit we would have won. I think we have one of the worst injury crisis compared to other teams and I'm happy that we are coping quite well with it. It can only get better ones a few players are back... Surviving this month will prove if we are in a good position or not....On the positive side, SAF is forced to play some of the younger players. Gibson has been playing a lot, Welbeck and De Laet are also getting a lot of playtime, they have all done well

I think we have really coped well with the injury crisis. Really is frustrating. We havent been able to play with a settled back four. Each game we have a different back four. But we have been doing well. I just think we need abit more in the attacking department. This is the time for berba & rooney to step up but i am just disappointed with their performances. Especially rooney.. i dont know what's wrong with the lad. Hopefully Giggs will be back for saturday's game.

Aside from the fact that he's massively overrated?

That's irrelevant either way. The fact is on average he scores around 20 goals a season consistently every year.

He's on 13 at the moment played 20 with around 30 more to go. Thats better then a goal every 2 games which has given him 2nd place in the top goal scorer tally. Second to only Drogba at the moment who's one ahead. Statistically this is the best he's ever done, even so he seems to be missing goals we have seen him score many times before.

He's scored 12 in 16 games in the EPL. If he continues with this rate he might score nearly 30 goals this season. I don't think he's overrated. I would rather say that he's inconsistent sometimes.

I honestly think he is overrated by the fans and the media. Don't get me wrong, he's a great player, but I wouldn't put him in the same bracket as the likes of Messi, Drogba and Torres.

damn it looks like Chelsea have got through with a 78th minute penalty. Don't think Portsmouth will score again. Really stupid tackle.

I think Rooney is too inconsistent to be put together with these players. He's way behind them. Sometimes he's brilliant but sometimes he's so frustrating. I think he's a quality player, but to be compared to the likes of Villa, Torres, Drogba etc he needs to improve in some departments e.g heading, finishing etc. But yeah I agree that the English media always tend to overrate young players e.g Walcott. Btw I think Rooney was most effective while playing with Van Nistelrooy. There was a good understanding between them.

That's a strong choice of words there
You're right, it's just my opinion.

But my point is that Rooney is a good striker, but not a great one. The buzz that he created around his name when he was younger has taken him a long way.

Sure we do.

Not the most favourable of draws but well they're not as good as they used to be now. Should be great to watch though. I am very confident we can get past them.

EDIT: Just realised we might see Beckham playing against us... I think its the first time we are playing against Becks since he left in 2003. Should be interesting to watch... but hopefully he won`t cause much damage :) I remember he said a few days ago that he hoped to play against us. Hope he gets a good reception at OT which I expect he will. Respect for the guy (Y)

I think it's a good draw for us. Milan are in very good form now, but we are a changed team since they defeated us heavily in the semis. We learned a lot from that experience....good to see Becks back. I am sure he will get a good reception from us, even though he didn't leave the club on positive terms, he always showed his love and respect towards the club and later towards SAF aswell

Hopefully Becks gets a warm welcome back.

If everyone is healthy by the time these games happen (mid-February I think?) I think we will be alright.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we try to land Ronaldinho after Becks left? And he said no to us? Could be interesting to see him play at OT.

Ryan Giggs has signed a 2 year contract which will see him play until 2011. :)

Btw Evra said on Becks: "I like that type of player. He is still one of the best right-footed players in the world. But I hope he plays badly and I intend to make sure he doesn't do very well." lol

Indeed we did, but that idiot Kenyon was trying to play games with PSG and allowed Barca to get a bid in. Ronaldinho immediately decided that Barcelona was the more attractive option. We met Barca in the preseason that year, in the USA.

And in the present - Oh why did it have to be Danny bloody Murphy! :swear2:

I was going to laugh at Liverpool, but I think I might wait to see if we can pull this back.
