You mean the "Red Knights"? No offer has been made yet. These were just rumours.

Football fans maybe, fans of United?? Thats debatable. What fan is goin to transfer their personal debt onto the club which they support just so they can pay it off??

If it's the only way you can own the biggest club in the world? Probably a lot of fans.

WRONG it was not and is not the only way! Chelsea's owner keeps his debt seperate from chelsea pfc aswell as many owners. The Glazers are infact the first owners of massive club I know that did this.

Abramovic is a multi-billionaire Russian oligarch. The Glazer way is the only way to do it if you aren't one of the 50 richest people in the world.

bummer about the draw. i had a feeling it was going to end that way when the commentators mentioned only tottenham had won there all season. we were a bit lackluster in the final third but i think that was more due to the blackburn defense, nani and valencia were kept pretty well under wraps. so now we need 2 loses from chelsea, :( things are looking bleak.

He didn't have to buy the club in the first place when he didn't have the money. Simple as that.

Wrong again the glazers could of pooled their money with other people or could have joined a consortium of some sort. Now because of them we're in at the deep end for the next 5-10 maybe even 15 years. These guys also had the "common sense" to take out one of the most costly loans possible in terms of interest,a trust fund loan. Incredible

So Giggs, Rio and O'Shea all got hurt this weekend. What a joke.

This season has really turned into a disaster.

What made me laugh was him resting Patrice Evra against Blackburn for a clearly unfit John O'Shea in the first place, I mean we don't have a champions league tie upcoming do we?

I'm beginning to think it's time for Scholes and Giggs to be used far less, they clearly cannot sustain form and energy for more than a couple of games at a time.

As for the Glazer stuff, as uneasy as we all are (myself included) we only have word of the press that United don't have a transfer warchest set aside - and the press are hardly reliable at the best of times, are they?

Imagine that, Rooney doesn't play and we can't score a goal, even against a garbage team. There's no point in saying I told you so...but, I told you so.

I've been saying it for God knows how long and I guess I'll say it again- a creative midfielder and a proven striker, top two priorities for this summer. SAF needs to STOP BEING CHEAP and spend the goddamn money the Glazers give him for players.

Blackburn are mid table in, what is imo, the best league in the world, and have lost just twice at home I believe. Hardly garbage. Last time Fergie spent big money he bought Dimitar Berbatov, so be careful what you wish for.

I felt there was a certain inevitability about yesterday's result with Blackburn's home form and the absence of Rooney. It will be tough to win the title now and Chelsea will have to slip up big time. I can't feel too angry about it however because I remember around christmas time the gap was bigger and it looked over back then, so we've made more of a fight of it than I thought we would.

I think in Fergie's defence he's in a difficult position this summer with regards to transfers. I think its widely accepted that Berbatov simply hasn't worked out and, because of the huge fee for him, if Fergie spent big again on say someone like Villa and it didn't work again then he comes under huge pressure and criticism. We definitely need another striker in case Javier Hernandez doesn't settle quickly but I'd settle for a medium priced player, for example someone like Carlton Cole if West Ham were to go down. As I've mentioned before, I'd like to see an attempt to swap Berbatov with Dzeko but I don't think Wolfsburg would be keen.

Help?

LOL, you have no concept of what a Leveraged Buyout is.

From Wikipedia: "Glazer has owned a diverse portfolio of nationwide investments which include food service equipment, food packaging and food supplies, marine protein, broadcasting, health care, property, banking, natural gas and oil, the Internet, stocks and bonds."

Hardly a fan of any of those. All this is, is an investment. That's the way things work, you usually put up 20% of your equity and borrow the other 80% to purchase an investment (ex. Manchester United) at a certain multiple of operating income (ex. United's income was around 100 million, so Glazer bought them for 8x that). Over the years, you pay down debt with most of your cash flows and use the remaining cash to pay yourself dividends from the business (ex. All 3 sons got 20 million pounds/annually since takeover). Then after a few years you resell the business to another private owner or the public for usually the same multiple of operating cashflows. So if the cashflows increased to 150 million in that time, then you sell the investment for 1,200 million (8 x 150). So Glazers borrowed around 640 million and put up around 160 million of their own. They sell the club at 1200 million and for illustrative purposes 140 million of debt has been paid down by then, then they get 700 million of their equity to keep. Now that's a 338% (700/160-1) return not including any of the dividends Glazers paid themselves over the years of owning the business. THAT'S why they bought United, not because they are football fans and really wanted to own a piece of history.

Why did the Glazers then say that they won't accept "Red Knights" bid?
1. Because you NEVER say you will take the first offer given to you
2. Because the Red Knights have not tabled anything yet
3. The rumoured bid was 1 billion, which after paying down debt would equal to two years of Dividends for the Glazers, that's a ****ty investment return that nobody in their right mind would accept.

I was speaking to a mate about this the other day. Its on of them odd things. Remember a year or so ago, everyone was writing Giggs off. Saying her should Retire. Then... Giggs, scholes has some top games and some brilliant run of form.

I remember writing such comments as "I think they have found the fountain of youth" or words to that effect.

The moment you start to doubt those guys they come back player harder and better then ever. But I guess we will see.

Scholes has scored some very important goals for us this season and Giggs is 4th in the assists ranking with 10. He's the one with most assists for us this season. Giggs is one of the few who can show some magic sometimes. Remember that super pass to Owen against City?

They still have a role imo but can't be expected to play every game anymore. I hate the idea of playing the 3 of them at the same time. This makes our team lack pace. Either Giggs or Scholes should play at a time. They are can be very effective as sub players.

I still say we need to try signing Chamakh...his contract is up with Bordeaux so there would be no transfer fee and therefore absolutely zero risk involved. Ditto with Joe Cole.

Hopefully someone in the front office of United will be able to make Ferguson understand that.

I think Chamakh would be a great signing, but I don't see you guys getting him.

I think Arsenal will swoop him up, he seems to have his mind set on going there to play with Arsene and is his priority for this summer. Also they are up for sale with the russian billionare Usmanov fighting for them for a 1bn price. They aren't gonna be as cash strapped as Fergie, but we have also seen Arsene doesn't like to shell out money so there might be a chance.

Glazers have truly destroyed United, it's really sad because you are one the European power houses with a lot of great history and tradition. I have a lot of respect for your club.

Hope everything gets better for you guys(Y)

Why do we need Chamakh when we just got Chicharito? Chamakh would be a good 3rd choice striker, not a starter. We have Chicharito already who could be a great 3rd choice backup. What we need is a top striker like Dzeko or someone similar to start with Rooney. And someone to replace Scholesy.

Hamsik (Napoli) is a great successor for Scholes, but we have Anderson whom was brought in to replace him. He has the potential to become a great player for us, just a matter of time, just like Nani

If Anderson is allowed to play his natural game, then yes - but Fergie has been playing him as a more defensive midfielder.
