SAF is doing what he always does. He rarely buys big name players (unless they are worthy). Since the eighties he has always invested in young players and nurtured them into great players. The money is there to spend, but people seem to forget the fact that we have spent around 20 mln this time around for bringing in Smalling, Diouf and Hernandez, people seem to forget that considering all the bad spells we have had this season with injuries, unlucky calls etc....we ended just a minor point behind Chelsea, so we are not in a bad position as some of you are stating.... we have never been like Real or Barca whom spend loads of money on big name players....
This is what he himself said:
"They have been great owners," he said. "They have supported me in every way I have asked them. Any time we have wanted a player, they have provided the money. What people forget is that we have spent £20 million on young players this season, including Chris Smalling, Mame Biram Diouf and Javier Hernandez. We have always seen our future as based on young players developing at the club. "But because we are signing young players, not big showpiece signings, they think we are not moving. People do not recognise how we see our future."
