Weirdest formation ever. I was fuming when I saw that lineup. WTF, 7 defenders, 2 strikers and 1 midfielder and that ONLY midfielder was bloody GIBSON! How the hell would we win with this kind of lineup against Arsenal? Only Fergie can win with these types of lineups. I'm surprised it worked.
I was wondering who the hell would provide balls and apparently Rooney played in midfield most of the time defending and attacking. He was instrumental today. Gibson as usual misplaced lots of goals but O'Shea did OK in midfield. But I think the key man in the middle was Rooney.
I said several times that either Rafael or Fabio should be tried in the wing position but I never thought Fergie would play BOTH of them on the wings in the same game, that too against Arsenal. It was a huge gamble that actually worked out. That buildup for the Fabio goal was a great one. Fabio and Rafael seem to play well together although they are on different wings. That was awesome combination between them. I love those twins.
Numerous outstanding saves from VDS and a solid defense was key for us winning IMO. Vidic is a rock and an exemplary captain. Everything looks so organised with him. We never looked like conceding with him. Good composed performance from Smalling too. Well done Chris.
There's a chance we'll play C*ty in the final now. Would be sweet to win it against them. Also, Giggs and Scholes have been rested for the game so they'll be fit for Marseilles. Also, I expect Valencia to play too. Things starting to look good. I'm confident of a victory against Marseilles at OT regardless of the lineup.
