What a relief! Another 1-0 win after a below par performance. Sunderland weren't much offensively or defensively. In the first half there was just no striker upfront and whenever somebody would brake away on counter-attack, that player would either have to lose the ball or turn back and pass to somebody behind him, while Sunderland player comeback. We are most dangerous on counter-attack and today we didn't do a single one. Luckily, Saha regained his fitness and saved our asses. As soon as he came on, he would do what stikers do and that's stretch the defense and chase the ball. The goal was nothing out of the ordinary and more like bad defending from Sunderland, but Saha overall was really good today. He hasn't played a game in so long and yet looked as sharp as ever and to even think that some of you wanted to sell him. Apart from injuries he saved our asses a lot last season and he did again today.
Anderson had a lacklusture performance, however he sorted of played out of his position and he just came back from a hamstring injury, so that's not an easy thing to do.
Anyway, i'm happy that we got a win and next game is in two weeks against Everton. Ronaldo will be back, Saha is back, Rooney quite possibly on the bench. And with Saha and Tevez attacking, while Ronaldo and Nani controlling the wings, we should see a totally different game then, mark my words.
BTW anybody else is surprised at Evra's performances so far? He was always good going forward but this season it seems that his dribbling and ball handling improved significantly and most importantly, he doesn't lose sight of the player he is marking, as well as his defending and tackling sky rocketed compared to last season. So far he seems to defend just like Heinze if not better and doesn't use his elbows and shoves to keep the ball, added to that, his attacks always seem dangerous.
