It's not the game that will make his career, but it's one he needs to peform well in. Even more so taking into consideration his game at Coventry. Pique wanted to be first choice when coming back from Zaragoza, and made Ferguson aware of that. So he needs to prove a point in the games he's given a chance in.

Well a bit lucky in the end, but we managed to win, Rio, Vidic and Kuszchak were great today, Nani showed glimpses of his talent, Tevez did well, when coming in and Anderson also showed some of his talents, can't wait to see more from him

Well we got another 1-0 victory and Wayne's back on the goal trail so a good night's work I'd say, though we were let off with a couple of Roma's chances.

Ronaldo needed four stitches in his eyebrow according to Fergie - bad news about Owen Hargreaves though, they've given him the injection in his knee which will take about four weeks to heal fully. Fergie said it was an option - but they decided it had to be done to clear the problem 100%

Back to the game, I thought Nani played pretty well overall, showed some good skill - tended to overplay a bit - but he'll learn as Cristiano did. Saha got some more minutes under his belt, Wayne looked sharp. Tommy K did well and the back four looked solid once again - Rio was outstanding.

Anderson in what little time he had showed glimmers of his skill, so overall it wasn't bad. Still know there's two or three gears for us to move up into though.

nani has to improve on his decision makings and some of his passes were slack. But he did show glimpses of his talent. Lucky Roma's finishing was piss poor if not it would have been 1-1. Rio had a solid game.

I think Nani had a good game. He produced quite a number of threatening crosses into the goal mouth. And he provided Rooney's goal with a quick bit of incisive play. Anderson had a particularly good dribbling run where he ran past 3/4 Roma players. He did show some of what he could do, which is encouraging. Who can complain at getting 3 points from Roma, and keeping a clean sheet. Good night overall.

Apart from his goal i don't think he was sharp at all... don't get me wrong: for me, Wayne is one of the best strikers in the world, but he needs to regain his form... he has been underperforming

but nice goal nevertheless... only a glimpse of what he's capable of..

Help?

yeah true true, but if you remember after every single injury Rooney always took a while to regain his form back, so its nothing new, he just needs a few more games.

Michael Carrick is out for 6 weeks. Not good news at all. I guess O'shea can play in the middle of the park. But its an area where we're particularly thin at the moment with both Fletcher and Hargreaves also out. Didn't Pique play the defensive mid role a few times for Zaragoza ? It could be a good idea to give him a chance in that role.
