I think Robihno is a realistic posibility, there has been a general sense that he has never peaked and well here in Madrid people like to see results quick...Last season was his best with us and baring the fact he got injured He probably would have finished wth even better numbers...things about Robihno that have been brough up is his work ethic at times is poor Reminescent of Big Ronaldo, also that he sometimes seems to forego his defensive responsabilities however tiny they might be, and finally that he would not pass the ball to save his life choosing instead to dribble all day long, but that has been corrected a lot under Schuster this year...so but the Ramos thing not gonna happen, we really dont have a replacement nor can we buy one as the RB market is extremely thin right now...so that Ramos part was purely media talk, I would be Stunned if he went anywhere, they were talking about giving him a life contract like Casillas, Raul and Guti have with us...anyway, Robihno, could happen

Youre somewhat spot on about Robinho but remember a younger Cristiano? He had similar problems. Players need to develop and time and space need to be given. If Schuster can mold him he would be even better. Up to the injury, he was by far our best player. I can definately see him being that good a whole season and imroving and building on top of that! Im afraid if Cristiano goes, Robinho goes.

Speak volumes really about how a club can develop a player more than the other club. If Ronaldo had gone to Real Madrid when he was at Sporting, would he have become the player he is now at Manchester United? The same goes for Robinho, would he have developed better if he was at Manchester United? SAF has moulded Ronaldo into the player he is today, just like other players like Beckham, Scholes and so on and so forth.

Cristiano hasn't had an injury yet - the way he plays does put him at high risk (in the way pacey players get hamstring tears etc) I hope when the deal is done we get players in exchange, because even with £100M straight cash, it's going to be very hard to get the players we want - Chelsea are going into hoovering mode again.

At least with Robinho and Ramos, United would get some quality back - although I really, really, really hope United ask for Sneijder.

Starting XI
RM's Sneijder's is only the second leading assist man we had and fourth leading scorer, and a key piece in most of our BIG win this year...surely he would be no help.....but it is important to note, he wont go anywhere, neither will Ramos, both have stated their desire to continue in Madrid, so...unlike Ronaldo they have made their future clear....Robihno on the other hand has stated that he would be open to a move....

It depends on who you get: RM Sneijder's or Euro's Sneidjer. The latter would improve any team, the first not.

Right, two completely different people. I actually think the former is from Zimbabwe.

I would think any player would have to very very unhappy, to want to leave Real Madrid for any club. In fact they would need to be desperately unhappy.

Just another player looking for a wage increase Daz. From what the agent is reported to have said, Real Madrid might just be considering whether to report Man U to Fifa for tapping up Ramos. That's what it looks like to me mate. Man U need to be very careful indeed.

Help?

lol, wouldn't that be a slap in the face.

In my opinion he's lost cause already and we should just cash him in sooner rather than later and be done with it. He'll never have such a good season again so the value can go only down.

"not for sale"

cant wait to see if we get berb. Wonder when saf will start the spending.

As soon as we get rid of the disingenuous number 7. Looks like he was pulling the strings in the saga all along. The action depends on who we get of Madrid in return - and how much cash we can get.

Berbetov would be a great signing, but I wonder if he's got the right attitude for Sir Alex. Podolski was on fire again last night, Bayern apparently will sell - so I think we should snap him up.

We'll also need a good pacy winger too, wonder if we could prise Ashley Young from Aston Villa? The only alternatives I can think of are;

Messi (then I woke up)
Kaka (nice dream still)
Ribery (take shedloads of cash)
Quaresma (United have followed him since he was a kid - so perhaps possible)
Moutinho (Good links with Sporting)
Simao (Perhaps too old now for Fergie's policy)
Bentley (different kind of winger - Blackburn could sell for the right money)
Wright-Phillips (Not likely, but might be easier to get)
Joaquin (Hasn't really lived up to the hype)

I quite like the sound of those 2, but then I'm pro English. I wonder if he will snatch up a English player this summer, he's been grabbing the token Brit for every few foreigners it seems. Richards would be nice but then brown did well with gary coming back. Not sure Gary will last much longer, I noticed they grabbed him on as a pundit for the Euro's the other day. Seems he's starting to line up his next career move, maybe in case he gets injured again? There again teddy used to go on a lot nothing came of that.

Read an article in the Sun today. I was gob smacked that it was actually a good read haha. Check it out. Its talking about the Ronaldo situation and how some fans now think hes going to hell etc (H)

The only bit I didn't like was this statement

Well, so is this. Except Real are an even bigger beast. One that has won 31 Spanish titles and nine European Cups against United’s figures of 17 and three.

Our league being more competitive with different teams winning, our team getting wiped out. No English club taking part in the very first tournament due to football league rules. Since the 1960's British teams have won many more titles then the Spanish etc.

Ok, they had a run of five straight wins in the first five years of the tournament but that's a comment on the level of competition there was at the time. In the period since then 1960 they've won it four times, 6 if you include Spanish teams in comparison too 12 from the Brits.

doesn't seem right, that they go on about it.

I shall just point out that the Sun is a London based newspaper, and Steven Howard is particularly prejudiced against Man Utd. Also I will also point out that £25M he quoted is stupid.

Furthermore he goes on about the transfers of Ferdinand and Rooney - United never publicly pursued these players in the way Real do, United made a bid and then another and the clubs accepted it's called business - clubs reject offers but eventually the offer is high enough. Manchester United have stated time and again that they will not listen to offers (which Real haven't actually made a bid properly anyway) yet Madrid continued to talk about the "Ronaldo project"

In any case, in the cold light of day - it rather looks like the one pulling the strings all the time was the deceitful and devious Ronaldo.

In anycase I'm sick and tired of talking about Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid - he is not a United player anymore as far as I'm concerned.

The reason Real Madrid have won so much is because they were the favorite soccer club of none other than Francisco Franco, Dictator/Regent(stand-in king) of Spain from 1936 to 1975. i would defy anyone to be competitive in that kind of climate.

15 out of their 31 domestic titles were won while he ruled and 6 of their 9 champs trophies.

now, once you subtract all the titles won under Franco, Madrid's title count starts to resemble much more closely those of all the other Byg clubs in Europe.

Must be nice being the only state funded Club in the league.
