Rooney played wing-ish back in the Tevez/Ronaldo days. RvP and Rooney as roamers, Kagawa as playmaker. I guess it would be weird to see Fergie trot out a diamond though.

Rooney wasn't that great on the wing. Rooney/RVP would be excellent together 10 years ago when 4-4-2 was the best formation.

I think van Persie would be better on the wing because he can curl in crosses and also score. He's one of the few players who can really hit a nice curved ball, although I see it so few times from him. I think Rooney would be a little lost like Nady said.

RvP is versatile, unlike Torres. He can play anywhere and do well. He would fit with this team perfectly

I don't think we would get the best out of him on the wing. We also have loads of wingers. We could spend this money on a DMF. The lucas bid has been rejected despite a huge bid of 27 million pounds.

We are well covered though. Vidic is back soon. Jones, Ferdinand, Evans are all fit as far as I know. We will probably have the Vidic-Ferdinand pair at the start of the season. Well I hope so.

Thats an interesting observation. He doesn't cross a lot but they are superb almost every time he hits one. However it would be pretty stupid to sign him and play him on the wing. It doesn't make much sense to sign him either when Utd need a midfielder. Don't think United are very serious.

You're not getting van Persie. You offer the same city, less money, less good teammates and less trophy winning opportunity that Manchester City, there is absolutely no reason why he would even consider your offer.
