Max no of faces game crashes

Hi does anyone know what is the maximum number of faces allowed in the game. I think I have reached the limit coz when I install any new face the game crashes each time I try to play at the load screen. I have quite a few faces but I feel not that many for it to crash.Anyone have any ideas on what's up?

I also facing the same problem before. I try to solve it by

1) replace the player.big, face.big, head.big and hair.big with the original file.

2) Delete fifa2000 which located in user directory.

3) use gfxpak.exe to load the face again.


(p/s: if the problem persist, try to reduce the custom face file and repeat the steps again.)

That all from me. Anyone have better ideal are welcome to share with us.

Do not install hair files unless those are unique hairs... if you are using generic hairs, then do not install the hair files....

So, how do I specify which hair type and color to the player ??

But the game started to crash after I import all the 90 custom face. I guess the max no of custom face is around 80.. What do u think ??

I think the limit is the size of the big files not the no of faces since when I use faces with AT with fsh sizes of 300-400 kb I reach the limit much faster

don't use AT for world cup!!!!!
You save the face texture as a bmp and then select import image when you import faces... And the highest number of custom faces 411... of course EA has used some of them...
And some slots are unused like 105...
that is actually mcmanaman face but as we all know, mcmanaman has another face..
Therefore, the slots for custon faces are 100-511..

No I dont normally use AT for WC . I resize the hifa fsh before importing into the game. But just for fun I tried something. I found that if I bring on players with AT faces as substitutes the game works fine but if I have them as starters the game crashes

Does that happen to anyone else or is that some freak phenomenon on my pc

Anyway is there some way I could get my hands on your .big files

Coz 202 faces sounds quite tempting

for your information, my face.big file is 27.3 mb

Hey yim I can send you a small util which will store only the difference between two files.The original face.big is approx 25 mb right? and yours is 27.3 MB . So the resulting file will only be 2.3 MB and you can send me that ?

What is the "AT" u refer too ??
I normally import the custom face using the impbig tool, there is 4 files needed for a custom face which are:
face*.fsh
head*.rav
hair*.fsh
hhair*.rav

AT -> Advanced textures

It allows the fsh file to be bigger so the face is more detailed and realistic but it is for FIFA 2002 not WC 2002 as it crashes if used unconverted in WC.

the faces are 2.13 mb together...
the hhead files is 3.17 mb
player.big is 777 kb
hair.big is 1.1 mb
and the roster files are 100 kb...

All are already compressed...
