He's definitely going backwards, though not as backwards as Real Madrid went by signing him. :kader:

It's got to be a bad career move for him. He'd have been better to stay at Liverpool where he was getting a regular run out than to go to Madrid and warm the bench.

He's definately been going downhill since WC98. And i'm afraid there's no turning back. The kid hasnt shown anything in so long that one has to wonder, how the hell did he join Real Mierda anyways!??! I'm sure Liverpool was more than happy to let him go for a large amount of money and dont have to pay his high salary also. FOr Liverpool it was a great deal, for Real Mierda, it has been a big dissapointment.
Poor kid, he used to be so good. :kader:

The one he took is a risky bet. In a team when Raul is an Idol and captain, Figo is a non touchable, Ronaldo is a world champion and Morientes has been doing soo good with Monaco it will ba mission imposible for Owen to succed... He will need a hell of a luck..I wish him so.

i'm not the biggest michael owen fan, but some of you are ridiculous

he's what 24 or 25? Yea, his career is over

i honestly don't see him playing much at least at this point of the season, unless there are injuries

he's made only one start i believe

later on, when copa del rey, la liga and champions league are all going on at the same time, he should get opportunities

since he got all those hamstring injurys he turned really **** now he is really slow. watch the next time he plays and and watch him closely. i think defoe should definatly takes his place with rooney up front

he has played like 15 min... how can you say he's doomed?

when Madrid plays Copa del Rey, Owen will be a starter for sure... only after that, you can criticize him... or shut your mouth ;)

Starting XI
This thread should have been made about a certain other player at Madrid, Raul. Atleast Owen got 15 goals last season and continues to score for England, granted he isn't as good as he was as a youngster, but he is still world class and doing ALOT better than Raul.

I thought Macca was one of the more successful English player's who had spells abroad in Spain. Probably the most successful since Lineker (Barca). I'm sure that can be debated, though.

Its weird he agreed with coming to Madrid knowing it would be nearly impossible to be an starter. He probably tought that "impossible is nothing" :funny:

At least owen scored in Euro right? compared to............haha I love Raul!
but owen is going down because he has been getting worse since 98. He doesnt have that speed anymore, and his one jink move is really really old, especially when you have crazy Brazilians doing incredible moves all over the place(H)

Owen will prove his worth in the cup games, and I think he'll do fine, but he's not that wonder kid anymore, he's another regular striker.

YELLOW CARD - Sarcasm
Owen has been terrible for years. I'm beginning to think that the reason is that previous to World Cup 98 he was unknown on the international scene. With opposing player not knowing what to expect, he was able to sprint past and score with ease, but since World Cup 98 hes become more and more followed, nowerdays everyone knows his style of play, a defender who knows what hes doing will shut out Owen for a full game and Owen himself doesn't have enough in his game to change his style of play or be skillful enough to fool players with dribbling. With is dodgy Hamstring also he lost allot of pace and so that option is out of the window, I can see the rest of Owen's carear being down hill from now on
