I know there used to be an old UFC thread but I'll start a new one to discuss the world of mix martial arts. It will probably just be me posting in it, maybe shinji will drop in once in a while. I don't know who else here is a fan.

So UFC 142 in Rio Brazil is happening later tonight. I'm excited to see Belfort, he's been spectacular in his last fights, very dynamic and explosive. His opponent, Anthony Johnson, came in 11 pounds over the middleweight limit which is ridiculous, Dana White is apparently very upset at that unprofessional-ism. He could have come in under 11 pounds but for health reason his doctors advised him to rehydrate well.

The Aldo fight is nice too but Aldo has basically admitted that he just want to win no matter how exciting the fight is so it might be a snoozer... But if he unleashed those leg kicks or if his opponent is aggressive it might bring out the best from him.

So far a knockout of the year candidate has happened. The first spinning kick heel KO in the UFC. Etim went stiff before he even hit the floor. Nasty. Also the worst ref call I have ever seen where Eric Silva got disqualified for hitting the back of the head even though they were unintentional and happen in more than half of the fights.

edit: Toquinho with another sick heel hook submission, of course!

edit2: Belfort gets the win, man but tonight has some dodgy refereeing, they were standing up that fight way too fast.


Wow!!! Most epic after fight celebration. After an amazing KO Aldo runs into the crowd gets carried in celebration.

Looks like Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipović is ending his career. As his UFC contract is finished, he's back at K-1 and will fight against Ray Sefo in "Cro Cop Final Fight", but knowing him he won't stop there.

Me and my father used to follow K-1 and UFC a lot cause of him. I will always remmember his fights in Pride, especially fight against Fedor, which is considered as one of the 10 best fights of all time. Then, fight against Bob Sapp, Wanderlei Silva, Minotaur and others... Amazing career, deadly left foot. He used to say: "right foot = hospital, left foot = grave". Most of his fights I have recorded on VHS.

A true legend!

Mirko Crocop is a legend. I watched his Pride fights and he had the most powerful head kick ko's, he was a very gifted fighter.

The Gonzaga head kick loss was the second most crazy fight I have ever witnessed over the years of watching. It was the most unlikely thing to ever happen. To me, he never had confidence in the UFC, in japan he was a legend and was feared. I don't know if he was injured or got older or lost ability but he seemed a changed fighter He was put against really tough people.

The Anderson Silva -Chael Sonnen fight was most intense, to me anderson is the greatest champion that ever was. His winning streak is legendary as well as others like Crocop which I mentioned and Shifty Henderson, Chuck the iceman etc... and soon to be Overeem.

WTF.. Jeff Monson, he's fought a few tough guys and is decent. He is a step below UFC level. He has good strength and wrestling, but is pretty well rounded - something he probably acquired with his vast experience. I know hew got in some domestic altercations as well.

Yeah Sir_Didier_Drogba, I was shocked to see a reply here. Waldo and Clash are my peeps now, I can pretend I"m talking to them.

Horatiu, you follow Boxing also? Vitalij Kličko vs Derek Chisora at Saturday, could be nice match. Derek is Lennox Lewis school if I'm not wrong, but I dont belive he might heart Kličko. Derek slaped Kličko at weighing... lol... that will probably be his only real punch.

But lets go back to MMA, you know this chick?

Hmm, I see UFC 144 is tonight, and this time in Japan, could be nice event. Checik Kongo vs Mark Hunt, well, that might be very nice. I remember Mark Hunt back in Pride days, good boxer, and very though guy. He can receive so many punches and still be able to stay on his feets. I hope he is still good. And main fight is Frankie Edgar vs Ben Henderson, damn I don't even now these two at all.

Edgar is a solid fighter, he beat BJ Penn twice for the title.

I'm hoping Rampage wins tonight, I'm a fan of his.

Seems like a good card.

I predict Hunt will lose.

So, Henderson is a new Champion. Good fight, that leg punch was crucial.

Too bad for Okami, he dominated almost all the time and then in 3rd round amazing K.O. by Tim, just amazing turnover, nice uppercut K.O.! Hunt vs Kongo
was a big surprise. What a guy this Hunt is. Nice avoding and counter punch. He still have it. I can't belive Kongo lost this one. And why the f**k Quinton Carlos*son didn't attack Bader after that throw? Carlos*son had few nice punches after and Bader was visibly shaken, and Carlos*osn stood still, that cost him a lot at the end. And that throw could have ended very bad for Baders arm, very unconfortable landing.

Anyway, nice UFC event.

And Arianny did a good job! Though, that Japanese chick was good also.

Carlos*son's done man, he didn't even look for the win, he just wanted to put on a good fight he said prior. Listening to the post fight conference Carlos*son is saying he was injured and told not to fight but did anyway. That plus Bader doing anything for the win (wrestling) meant a win for him. I wanted Rampage to win but before the fight I thought Bader was the favorite.

The Boesch and Hunt KOs were awesome. The Boesch KO was one of the best come backs I've ever seen. I like Hunt's style, Kongo has had some boring fights because all he cares about is getting a win and I'm glad Hunt derailed that. I really liked the title fight, I thought Henderson looked really good. I can't believe some people are saying Frankie won, I thought he got dominated.

And yesterday was that "Cro Cop Final Fight" in Zagreb against Sefo. Two K-1 legends. Not spectacular fight, but decent. There was even Buffer as announcer! And guess what, Mirko said he would like to participate in this years K-1 Grand Prix if it'll be held. "Final Fight", ay? HERE are all 3 rounds.

Anyway, I read that Fedor Emelianenko might sign UFC contract. That would be nice. I don't expect any spectacular performance in UFC if he's gonna fight, but it would be nice too see him.
