My thoughts on PES 2008 (PC) and FIFA 08 (PC)

My english isnt so good, to allow me to say everything I want right now, but I'll try. Yesterday, I decided to try the demo of PES 2008. And I have to say, I am very dissapointed. I really am. After I played 2-3 matches I said: "What a wonderfull game". But after I played some more matches, i actually saw, that FIFA is a lot better. Everything is repeated in PES. Corners - the same every time, and when you defend a corner you cant move your keeper, and if you are lucky, you might be able to clear the ball. Free kicks - cant curve the ball, which is really bad, aint reallistic. Players are doing the same every tame... As I said, you cant have 2 really different matches. Everytime its the same. Passing's awfull. Especially long passes are awfull... They are really low (most of them). And now for the shooting in PES 2008. Its too easy... Shooting's far to easy. And most of the long shots are low... Many tackles are considered as a foul, when it's no foul. Also you cant switch your kicker... And something, that's the most important thing in my opinion, there is no athmosphere in the game. You dont feel like you are in the stadium. Why do you need all the press conferences and other things off the pitch, when there is nothing on the pitch? You dont feel excited when playing. That's what EA are working on - pure football, nothing more. That's it about PES.
And now FIFA. Well, I am a bit dissapointed from this year's FIFA, because there are a lot of commentary bugs, offside bug, and because it's still current gen. But everything else is wonderfull! The gameplay is very nice, I think it's the best FIFA ever. And free kicks, corners, even throwins are fantastic. It's perfectly ballanced. EA have done a great job about that. Even though there are so many bugs, you still have so much to do with FIFA, and you still feel excited when playing, you really feel the crowd, you enjoy when the fans sing your favourite team's chants. As I said above, there is no atmosphere in PES, but in FIFA you have one fenomenal atmosphere, you enjoy every moment. You dont need all those "off the pitch" things, like in PES, you need football! That's what EA have delivered us! Pure football!

I also prefer FIFA08 to PES.....(me playing on PSP).
It makes me fell more like i´m into a soccer world.

Whatever, but a lot prefer PES.
My question is if this PES vs FIFA thing became a sort of clubistic thing or its really just peoples opinions?

Please, your playing the demo of pes 2008. Did you play the demo of fifa 08 i wonder ?, if you did i doubt you would have felt the same about fifa 08. Just wait a week more and then compare the two full games.

Yes, I played it. And I have played at least 10 games in PES.

Mate now come on, I respect your opinions but please be fair.

Please share your opinions about the 2 games once you also play the FULL version of PES2008

Comparing a demo to a full game just isn't fair...

I personally like the new PES, I LOVE it for PC. For me it just has everything I want that FIFA lacks. For me, every game is different.

Plus, the fact that the game is said to be much more different than the demo just makes me want to play it even more.

I can't wait!!!! :D

The gameplay's going to be the same, mate ! :)
Was the gameplay in the fifa demo the same as the full game no, so why would the demo of pes 2008 be exactly the same as the unreleased version of pes 2008. It's clear you favour fifa over pes and that's fine, its your choice. Its like me saying without a shadow of a doubt that the unfinished version of pes 2008 will trounce all over fifa and we have not even played the retail version of pes2008. For the record and this is just my opinion, the demo of pes 2008 is a little to fast but it still way better than fifa's gameplay(just my opinion), if the gameplay is similar to the demo but slowed down a tad it will be an awesome game this year. A week to go cmon.

No mate, the gameplay of the demo will not be the same.

Konami said they have slowed down the gameplay very much thus making the game even more realistic.

THEY listened to their fans who said the gameplay was unrealistically fast and too 'arcadey', sooo...they changed it!

Dude, did you even try learning to play PES 2008???? Of course you can move the keeper on corners, just press Y. Of course you can curve the ball on free kicks, actually much better and realistic than fifa, jus move the stick to the side you want the ball to curve as the kicker is getting ready to kick. You can easily change kickers by pressing RB and moving the stick up or down. Long passes being low?? are you sure?? that's real...not like the balloons in FIFA. I personally find FIFA much more repetitive than PES, but that's just my opinion.

It's not an opinion if you don't know how to play the game. You said that you can't move the keeper. Wrong. You said that you can't curve the ball on free kicks. Wrong.

Hardly an opinion.

Well, only 2 points are wrong, see how many points he mentioned and elaborated there. Even if you cancel out those 2 wrong points, he'll still have far lot points to support him.

Not if he is comparing the demo of pes 2008 to the full game of fifa 2008. Which in his first post he was.

Yeah, you can't compare the 2 games right now. PES last year was slightly better than Fifa 07 in terms of playability, but Fifa 08 is now the better game. So much more realistic. Will wait to see how the new PES 08 is but I will most likelly stick with Fifa anyway. I love all the options Fifa has and I find myself playing around in manager mode just as much as the time I spend actually playing on the field. Last year's PES feels really arcadish now.
