NBA 08-09 Season Thread

Surprised a thread hasn't already been started. Anywho, let's get to the important sh*t:

-Raptors 3-0.

-The Pistons trade Billups, Mcdyess and some other skank to the Nuggets for AI. Holy ****.

That's really all I care about for now. Oh, and Shifty, who do you prefer as starting PG? I'm surprised that it took a back injury to Ridnour for Sessions to finally get some PT, he puts up some solid numbers.

Stuckey? AI? Hamilton? Not sure what to think about this trade, AI doesn't fit the Piston profile at all... Well.. he's supposed to be mr bad boy or whatever, but im not so sure he's even aware of the all mighty magic word starting with teh letter D. Too bad, I actually liked the Pistons

Amare is not human. Cant be with numbers like that.

17-21 FG, 15-15 FT, 55 pts, 11 reb, 6 ast, 5 stl, 2 blk

Im just being me... mean that is, but yeh. It all comes down to defense tho. And no matter who the coach or what the attitude they still cant play defense.

Btw wheres everyone else this year :P We went from 4-5 ppl posting in here down to 2.

Rony, let's not get on the "OMG Raps are so amazing this year with JO OMG we gonna win the East" bandwagon yet. :p As you can seen, we are still pretty much the same team as last year, with the same weaknesses and lack of swagger, only minus TJ Ford's ball-hogging. But I hope JO can settle in sooner than never and that way our front court can perhaps make up for our embarrassing wings on a good percentage of nights. And, I'll say it again for the 3rd season in a row, Bargnani is a bust, trade that p*ssy!

I think Detroit did the right thing with the trade. Iverson is not going to win them anything, or even give them a better record, but that does not matter after his contract expires next summer. I personally believe Detroit has reached its maximum potential with the Chauncey-Rip-Prince-Dice-Sheed line-up, as it has been shown year in, year out. They were not going to win the championship this year, or the next, with the Celtics and Lakers around. With this trade, they totally opened up a field of possibilities. It's a trigger for their rebuilding. Iverson will be gone next summer, and they will have cap space. They probably won't make any big moves since everybody knows that they'll probably be waiting for summer '10. But even then, they will still have their core players (Rip, Sheed, Prince) to steer the ship, as well as the solid role players that are gradually becoming better and better, e.g. Maxiell the super Tractor Traylor. Whatever happens, as long as they don't touch Chris Bosh, I won't complain.

This season has opened up fairly unusually! Hawks 4-0, Wizards 0-5, Spurs 1-4... WHAT?!

Spurs are horrible without Manu. Duncan and Parker score like 60% of their points every night, and now Parker's out for 2+ weeks. Cue the rebirth of MATT BONNER!!!

Raptors show exactly why they aren't ready to be real contenders against the Celtics last night. blew it, and let Pierce touch us inappropriately all through the 4th quarter. and KG should have been teched up for his taunting Jose, but nice to see Jose hit back at him and not back down. at least we've got some fire in us this season

Crawford out - Harrington IN
Randolph & Collins out - Thomas & Mobley IN

Well we are going to be well under the salary cap in 2010 and now we have a legitimate shot at signing one of LeBron, Wade or Amare. And since we will absolutely suck from now on for the next 2 years i wouldn't be surprised if we also get some good first rounders on the draft. I am loving this.

Honestly, if i were one of those 3 I wouldnt even think about going to the knicks. The last few... too many years this team has been all about... everything but the players, and these guys are used to being the center of attention and i cant see them wanting to go to the NYK. At least besides Lebron who is the first player since Wilt Chamberlain able to have ,just.. by being himself, enough impact to turn around a whole team/franchise... With such a bad recent history (and thats not because of bad luck).. i really doubt.. One man army-bron is the only thing, at least based on my view of.. things right now that seems possible/logical/viable. Look at them cavs. A team full of bellow avg players and lebron. They even make it to the playoffs every year! :D

The thing is now we are able to sign not one of them but 2. LeBron alone can't make it. Making it in NY is a lot harder than Ohio. Also James is not stupid. If he joins the Knicks he will make a LOT more money just from selling jerseys, commercial deals and stuff like that. It is one thing being the face of the league in a market like Cleveland, it is a completely different one being the face of the league in one of the most important franchises in it. The NBA needs the Knicks to come out of the cellar Isiah put them with ridiculous trades and systematic bad decisions. Look at Boston for instance. They were in the same shoes we are now. They stock piled first rounders and got rid of long term contracts. That alone gave them the leverage to do what they did via trades. If memory serves me well Garnett didn't even want to join Boston to begin with. Signing LeBron will attract others to come to the Knicks. It is not only LeBron, Wade and Amare. Dirk and Bosh will be FA that very same year. I excpect them to go after the big bucks so there is no reason in hell they wouldn't come to NY. As a matter of fact i would go as far as calling it dumb not to consider joining the Knicks when it is clear that the NY market can offer players a hell lot more revenues than other markets.

Damn VC just dunked the Nets into victory in OT. That silence in Toronto with 1.5 sec to go was priceless. For everything else there is Vince Carter. (H)

Rony, Hope how does it feel? I mean to lose from a dunk by the most hatted person in the arena? :D

oh oh! and lose JO in the process??? that knee looked like it was done when i saw it happen initially. think livingston on a smaller scale.

Bron will make enough in his lifetime not to consider $$$ as his first and only request when he chooses a new team. he wants to win. He'll pick cleveland for 100 mil rather than NY for 140. cleveland is home, they can actually win now, and he doesnt have to worry about instability within the team and the front office. a lot can change in two years, but we can only assume with what we know. too many people are focusing on lebron. if some of these teams with cap space focus on the "lesser" free agents they could make out like bandits.

Yeah that's right, you don't want none of this. BTW, I went right now to their website and I see we traded for Zach Randolph, nice.

It's gonna be ANOTHER long season for me again. I can't wait for the playoffs already man. :(

Yeah, hopefully they get old enough so they become irrelevant again. This place isn't so bad when the Spurs fans are quiet.
