THIS is the one!

Well...it appears you've finally done it. You finally made a gameplay that playing on the lower settings (semi-pro) I can score on.

You know that I play on a keyboard and shooting on one is not so easy...so I've really struggled to score on most new gameplays and for the most part it's been because the keepers have been freaking unreal...catching and holding scorchers from about two yards...etc. In time...and with a little good passing I can normally crank off 10-15 shots per 12 minute game...and get anywhere from 5-10 on. In most of your earlier work and in Biggie's later gameplays it's been frustrating as h*** to get as many as 13 shots on goal...and have everyone of them saved.

But now...V6 is finally balanced properly. I'm sorry I haven't been able to beta test as much as usual...but work has been really intense lately. But in the first game I played with V6 I had nothing but action...knocking off Birmingham 2-1 with a Rooney goal in the 88th minute. I scored earlier off a corner kick that came in from C.Ronaldo...headed on by Giggs from beyond the six-yard box. Purse leaped on the line and headed it out...then stumbled into the goal. Park then jumped and headed the ball off of Purse who was standing inside the goal. It was cool! City came right back and after heavy pressure...Butt made a tremendous run through the heart of my defense and beat Van der Saar low left. Rooney's goal was a goal kick...headed on by Richardson to a flying Rooney who beat the defense and scored off the inside of the post from the left channel about 10 yards out.

In past versions...both of those opportunities would have been saves. For the game, Man U (me) finished with 9 shots and 4 on...with Birmingham at 5-2. I'm going to run some more tests with good teams playing good teams...and me playing as a run-of-the-mill team against good teams. As usual...your cpu buildups and offensive chances are spot on...goals and chances don't seem to come from nowhere. The cpu defense at this level is good...but not to the point of constant pressure as some of your earlier work.

I know that you aim your gameplays at the top end of the player spectrum. I just wanted you to know that we occasional players down here in the dregs find your work challenging and fun.

Thanks for everything!

Cheers,
mutiger

Hey man!! thanks for the feedback, love to know you are enjoying the playability of V6, it is aimed at all players' as the difficulty modes are much more balanced :) Before, I just made it kinda strict and keepers were more or less just too good and predictable.

And eurique, no problem! I'm glad I sorted it out before you gave up on it haha.

V7 is going to build upon V6, so expect a playable, yet increasingly challenging update. No longer do goalkeepers have that boring and predictable sense where you KNOW it has been saved. V7 will make the gameplay even more rewarding and fun. Hours of testing V6 myself with my friend Mike, we have come accross many area's in V6 which will be improved. Defence for both you and the CPU will be tighter and scoring will be even more technical, than pure luck.

More news to come later.

NEWS

The world cup update has a bug because of the intensty file. I believe I have a way around it so be patient please.

As for the bug, the game will crash after the match...which sucks!

Well I can't do much with the update at the moment, but I have reinstalled world cup 06 and have just started on editing the gameplay BASED around the V7 beta design. In terms of CPU difficulty, it will be very similar to V7 on FIFA 06.

Hi.
I want to edit some parametres of your gampeplay to adapt it to my level of playing.
Can you tell me what the part of cpudiff edits the semi-pro level? I only know that [CPUWC] edits the world class level

Send me a PM and tell me what you need editing. I may be able to create a custom update for you.

Just a thought; If you find the update too difficult, try reducing the difficulty level. It is intended that you go into practice mode to get used to the play, don't give up by making it easier. Editing the balance of V6 could ruin the experience.

Wow,wow,wow,wow,wow!!

I would just like to say fantastic job with this gameplay mod ,Nick. :)

You have brought Fifa 06 one step closer to PES series and re-ignited my interest in Fifa 06. I wont go into all the details but the improvements in this game are infinite, If EA need to find a new Fifa series technical programmer they need look no further than you! :jambo:
Thankyou and keep up the fantastic work m8.

Hi its ash.
I have been playing with the update for well over 20 games now and it is great... But.
There are three things that i have noticed that unfortunately i do not like.
When you try a lobbed pass towards the wing, the ball is very often booted off pitch. Secondly, it seems that the players on my team (or a human player's team) have had their running speeds limited or reduced, which means that the CPU AI constantly outrun you. I noticed this when playing with a team (Leeds U as it happens) and the running was limited in speed, howver i then played against them with another team (Chelsea) and the players could not keep up or outrun the leeds players.
Finally, i do unfortunately feel that the goalkeepers for a CPU team do, ever so slightly, have an advantage compared to a human team's goalkeeper, but it is, although being a small advantage, noticeable.
I hear you are working on the V7 (or 6 point something) so do u think u could implement this? I'm sorry if no-one agrees...
Cheers for a great GP

EDIT: Everything else is great ... don't change it! :D

I also think your player's speed and acceleration is reduced compared to the CPU's. I couldn't even outrun a defender with one of my fastest players.

CPU and human players' aren't tampered in speed. I have out-run many CPU players' and out-classed them. This is strange to be mentioned...

Everything however will be tuned for V7.

It's indeed a very interesting idea resizing field size, but don't we need to redo all the 3d models of the stadiums too to implement this?

NK: I've noticed that while the game is VERY hard with mediom-low teams (i.e. human playing with 2 stars against another 2 stars teams) it's a bit easy playing with top teams (4 stars and more): in my league with Santos of Brazil (4 and 1/2 stars) I overclass the AI with shots at goal, always more than the double :(

I agree about the problem with long pass going often outside of the field by the CPU; I agree on headers too: only lob head-shots can score now; I disagree on speed difference between human and AI: it's a good way to make the game a bit harder.

No way to make the gameplay harder? Any suggestion?

fix the headers please, i have so much fun with that game and they get one cross and do a "lob" header and always goes in, please make it like the original when the header is straight and can be changed with the lob button thanks, gr8 patch .... besides that point ;)
